QC Deploys Relief Convoys for Flood-Affected People in Sudan

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC), with the support of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), is implementing a series of relief convoys for those affected by the floods and rains in Sudan’s Al Jazirah, River Nile, and Kassala states.
This comes within the framework of the urgent Qatari response efforts to help the flood-hit people at a time when the field teams of QFFD and Qatar Charity are assessing the needs on the ground to expand the intervention efforts to include other sectors such as health, shelter, and environmental sanitation.
Qatar Charity, as part of its relief interventions, managed to distribute 600 tents to the affected families in the most affected areas of Al Manaqil and El Makaylab.
Qatar Charity, through its relief interventions, targeted the affected areas in the various states of Sudan. First, it carried out food and shelter interventions in the El Makaylab area of the Nile River state, then in the flooded areas of the El Manaqil district in the Al Jazirah State. Relief aid is now being distributed to the affected families in the villages of Kassala, eastern Sudan.
HE Director-General of QFFD Khalifa bin Jassem Al Kuwari said that QFFD always seeks to provide the necessary relief aid in many crisis-hit areas around the world and will be ready to provide urgent humanitarian aid to the affected communities. He indicated that QFFD’s relief and developmental efforts, in cooperation with Qatar Charity, will continue to help those most in need to reduce the damage and supply humanitarian aid, which will be expanded to include housing, food, and health aid.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Sudan Abdul Rahman bin Ali Al Kubaisi affirmed the continuation of Qatar’s support to the families affected by the floods to help them overcome this plight. He explained that Qatar’s urgent response to provide the affected with shelter and food materials was based on the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, within the framework of Qatar’s firm commitment to support the brothers in Sudan.
Qatar Charity CEO’s Assistant for the International Operations and Programs Sector Nawaf Abdullah Al Hammadi said that the field teams of Qatar Charity, with the support from QFFD, are working to strengthen the resilience of families affected by the disaster and expand the humanitarian interventions to cover other areas and villages in many affected states.

الدوحة: أعلنت قطر الخيرية عن قيام فرقها الميدانية بالسودان بتنفيذ سلسلة من القوافل الإغاثية للمتضررين من السيول والأمطار في عدد من ولايات السودان، بدعم وتمويل من صندوق قطر للتنمية.
وتأتي قوافل المساعدات في إطار جهود الاستجابة القطرية العاجلة لإغاثة المتضررين، في وقت تدرس فيه فرق صندوق قطر للتنمية وقطر الخيرية تحديد الاحتياجات ميدانياً لتوسيع رقعة التغطية لتشمل مناطق وقطاعات عمل أخرى مثل الصحة والإيواء وغيرها.
وتمكنت قطر الخيرية ضمن تدخلاتها الإغاثية من توزيع (600) خيمة للأسر المتضررة بمنطقتي المناقل والمكايلاب الأكثر تضرراً في خريف هذا العام.
واستهدفت تدخلات قطر الخيرية الإغاثية المناطق المتضررة بولايات السودان المختلفة، حيث بدأت أولى تدخلاتها الغذائية والإيوائية بمنطقة المكايلاب بنهر النيل، ثم انتقلت للمناطق المتضررة في محلية المناقل بولاية الجزيرة، ثم إغاثة المتضررين بولاية نهر النيل مرة أخرى.
ويجري الآن إغاثة الأسر المتضررة بقرى كسلا شرقي السودان، حيث كشفت السلطات الرسمية السودانية عن تضرر (36) قرية بالكامل.
وفي هذا السياق صرح سعادة السيد خليفة بن جاسم الكواري، مدير عام صندوق قطر للتنمية، بأن “صندوق قطر للتنمية يسعى دائماً لتقديم العون الإغاثي اللازم في كثير من الأزمات حول العالم، وسيظل مستعداً لتقديم المساعدات الإنسانية العاجلة لإغاثة المجتمعات المتضررة.
وأضاف أن الجهود الإغاثية والتنموية في الصندوق ستتواصل مع الشريك الاستراتيجي قطر الخيرية لمساعدة الفئات الأكثر احتياجاً بهدف تقليل ورفع الأضرار وإمداد المعونات الإنسانية التي ستتوسع لتشمل عدداً أكبر من المساعدات الإيوائية والغذائية والصحية.
من جانبه أكد سعادة السيد عبد الرحمن بن علي الكبيسي سفير دولة قطر بالسودان على استمرار وتواصل دعم دولة قطر للأسر السودانية المتضررة من السيول حتى تتجاوز هذه المحنة.
وأوضح السفير الكبيسي أن استجابة دولة قطر العاجلة لإغاثة المناطق المنكوبة بمواد الإيواء والغذاء تمت بناء على توجيهات سامية من حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى وذلك في إطار التزام دولة قطر الثابت بدعم الأشقاء في السودان، مشيراً إلى اشرافهم المباشر ومتابعتهم عن كثب لجهود الجمعيات والمنظمات القطرية العاملة في السودان لتقديم المساعدات الميدانية للمتضررين.
من جانبه، قال السيد نواف الحمادي، مساعد الرئيس التنفيذي لقطاع العمليات والبرامج الدولية في قطر الخيرية، إنه استمراراً للجهود الإنسانية الرامية للاستجابة لمتضرري السيول في السودان تعمل فرق قطر الخيرية الميدانية بدعم من صندوق قطر للتنمية على تعزيز صمود الأسر المتضررة من الكارثة وتوسيع رقعة التدخلات الإنسانية لتشمل مناطق وقرى أخرى في عدد من الولايات المتضررة.
