Qatar Charity launches ‘Soqya’ project for workers

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) has launched ‘Soqya’, an annually implemented water project, to help outdoor workers stay well hydrated while performing their jobs in the heat of the sun during summer.
The project is being implemented by distributing water and dates to the workers at their workplaces, in addition to raising awareness on avoiding harmful effects of the sun and drinking enough water.
The project aims to distribute 52,000 bottles of water, in addition to dates and water containers.
Some 5,000 municipality and construction workers across the country are expected to benefit from the project.
Qatar Charity, in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality represented by the Department of Agricultural Affairs, NologyStore, and Al Kawther Water Treatment (Qatarat), has distributed nearly 10,000 bottles of water, 700 cartons of dates and 200 water containers among the workers of Umm Salal Municipality and the Industrial Area.
Abdul Rahman Mohamed al-Hajri, director of the Programmes and Community Development Department at QC, thanked the Ministry of Municipality, NologyStore and Qatarat for their contribution to the project in support of the workers.
“This annual project of Qatar Charity keeps workers well hydrated and helps them protect themselves from the negative effects of summer heat,” said al-Hajri. “Qatar Charity, through this project, seeks to strengthen the values of solidarity, establish a connection between philanthropists and workers, and improve partnership with the government and private sectors.”
He also indicated that the project aims to strengthen the social fabric in the community.
Zaid al-Qatami, CEO of NologyStore, expressed delight at co-operating with Qatar Charity in distributing water containers to workers, to help them during the scorching summer.
He noted the company’s desire to co-operate with Qatar Charity in future in implementing projects and campaigns, which would allow the company to benefit from the expertise of Qatar Charity in the field of humanitarian and charitable work.
“Our participation in the project is part of our solid partnership with Qatar Charity,” said Rawan Baasher, marketing manager at Al Kawther Water Treatment (Qatarat) and Alfahad Food Product Factory (Q-Bisc). “This is to support the outdoor workers during summer.”
She underlined the factories’ keenness to deepen and expand co-operation with Qatar Charity in the future.

الدوحة: أطلقت قطر الخيرية “سقيا” ، وهو مشروع مياه يتم تنفيذه سنوياً، لحماية العاملين في الهواء الطلق من فقدان السوائل أثناء أداء وظائفهم في حرارة الشمس خلال فصل الصيف.
ويتم تنفيذ المشروع من خلال توزيع المياه والتمور على العمال في أماكن عملهم، بالإضافة إلى التوعية بتجنب الآثار الضارة للشمس وشرب كميات كافية من الماء.
ويهدف المشروع إلى توزيع 52 ألف زجاجة مياه بالإضافة إلى التمور وخزانات المياه.
ومن المتوقع أن يستفيد من المشروع حوالي 5000 من عمال البلدية والبناء في جميع أنحاء البلاد.
وقامت قطر الخيرية، بالتعاون مع وزارة البلدية ممثلة في إدارة الشؤون الزراعية ونولوجي ستور والكوثر لمعالجة المياه (قطرات)، بتوزيع ما يقرب من 10000 زجاجة مياه و 700 كرتونة من التمور و 200 حاوية مياه على عاملين بلدية أم صلال والمنطقة الصناعية.
وتقدم عبد الرحمن محمد الهاجري، مدير إدارة البرامج وتنمية المجتمع في قطر الخيرية، بالشكر لوزارة البلدية ونولوجي ستور وقطرات على مساهمتهم في المشروع لدعم العمال.
وقال الهاجري: “هذا المشروع السنوي لجمعية قطر الخيرية ييحمي العمال من فقدان السوائل ويساعدهم على حماية أنفسهم من الآثار السلبية لحرارة الصيف”. وتسعى قطر الخيرية من خلال هذا المشروع إلى تعزيز قيم التضامن وإقامة صلة بين المحسنين والعاملين وتحسين الشراكة مع القطاعين الحكومي والخاص.
كما أشار إلى أن المشروع يهدف إلى تعزيز النسيج الاجتماعي في المجتمع.
أعرب زيد القطامي ، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة نولوجي ستور، عن سعادته بالتعاون مع مؤسسة قطر الخيرية في توزيع صهاريج المياه على العمال، لمساعدتهم خلال فصل الصيف الحارق.
وأشار إلى رغبة الشركة في التعاون مع قطر الخيرية في المستقبل في تنفيذ المشاريع والحملات التي من شأنها أن تتيح للشركة الاستفادة من خبرات قطر الخيرية في مجال العمل الإنساني والخيري.
وقالت روان بعشر، مديرة التسويق في شركة الكوثر لمعالجة المياه (قطرات) ومصنع الفهد للمنتجات الغذائية: “إن مشاركتنا في المشروع هي جزء من شراكتنا القوية مع قطر الخيرية”. “هذا لدعم العاملين في الهواء الطلق خلال فصل الصيف.”
وأكدت حرص المصانع على تعميق وتوسيع التعاون مع قطر الخيرية في المستقبل.
