Qatar Announces $2 Million Contribution to Address Threat of ‘Safer’ Oil Tanker off Yemeni Coast

The Hague: The State of Qatar announced a $2 million contribution to address the threat posed by the floating oil tanker “Safer” off the Yemeni coast.
This came in the State of Qatar’s speech, delivered by HE Qatar’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Nasser bin Ibrahim Al Langawi, at the high-level pledging conference for Yemen, co-sponsored by the UN and the government of the Netherlands, to address the threat of “Safer” oil tanker.
HE Al Langawi hailed UN’s continued efforts to negotiate with the authorities in Sana’a as well as the Yemeni government regarding the floating oil tanker “Safer” off the Yemeni coast, and the role played by UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen David Gressly.
His Excellency also expressed sincere appreciation for the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ invitation to the State of Qatar to participate in this conference, in order to meet the immediate need to transport oil on board the Safer tanker and to avoid this environmental threat.

لاهاي: أعلنت دولة قطر عن مساهمة بقيمة 2 مليون دولار أمريكي، لمواجهة التهديد الذي تشكله ناقلة النفط العائمة “صافر” قبالة الساحل اليمني.
جاء ذلك في كلمة دولة قطر، التي ألقاها سعادة السيد ناصر بن إبراهيم اللنقاوي، سفير دولة قطر لدى مملكة هولندا أمام مؤتمر “المانحين لليمن” المعني بالتعهدات رفيعة المستوى لناقلة النفط العائمة “صافر”، والذي نظمته الأمم المتحدة بالتعاون مع حكومة هولندا.
وأشاد اللنقاوي بجهود الأمم المتحدة المستمرة في التفاوض مع السلطات في صنعاء وكذلك الحكومة اليمنية فيما يتعلق بناقلة النفط العائمة “صافر”، الموجودة على الساحل اليمني والدور الذي يضطلع به السيد ديفيد جريسلي، المنسق المقيم للأمم المتحدة ومنسق الشؤون الإنسانية لليمن.
وأعرب سعادته عن خالص تقديره لدعوة مملكة هولندا لدولة قطر للمشاركة في هذا المؤتمر، لتلبية الحاجة الفورية لنقل النفط من على متن ناقلة “صافر” وتفادي هذا التهديد البيئي.
