WHO Delegation Visits Al Wakrah Municipality in Preparation for Its Adoption as “Healthy City”

Doha: A delegation from the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean of the World Health Organization (WHO) visited Al Wakrah Municipality to review the sustainable development file and the most prominent projects and initiatives of the municipality in preparation for its adoption as the third healthy city in the State of Qatar after the adoption of Doha and Al Rayyan in 2021.
The delegation was acquainted with the most important projects and programs implemented by Al Wakrah, which contributed to obtaining the UNESCO Learning Cities Award for 2021, as one of the WHO objectives within the criteria of the Healthy City program, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health.
The program of the visiting delegation included attending the 3rd “Al Wakrah Read” event, visiting the old Al Wakrah market and Al Wakrah Hospital, which is the main provider of treatment services in the city, and learning about the diagnostic and therapeutic services it provides and the role it contributes to creating a healthy, disease-free community in the city and its surrounding areas.
The visiting delegation praised the distinguished level of services provided by Al Wakrah Hospital to the patients, its quality certificates and international accreditation from several international accreditation institutions, and its commitment to international standards for the services it provides.

الدوحة: زار وفد من المكتب الإقليمي لشرق المتوسط بمنظمة الصحة العالمية بلدية الوكرة للاطلاع على ملف التنمية المستدامة وأبرز المشاريع والمبادرات التي أنجزتها البلدية تمهيداً لاعتمادها كثالث مدينة صحية في دولة قطر بعد اعتماد مدينتي الدوحة والريان عام 2021.
وتعرف الوفد على أهم المشاريع والبرامج التي نفذتها الوكرة وساهمت في حصولها على جائزة اليونسكو لمدن التعلم لعام 2021، باعتبارها أحد المرتكزات والأهداف التي تعتمدها منظمة الصحة العالمية ضمن معايير برنامج “المدينة الصحية ” وذلك بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة العامة.
وتضمن برنامج الوفد الزائر حضور فعالية “الوكرة تقرأ” في نسختها الثالثة وزيارة سوق الوكرة القديم ومستشفى الوكرة الذي يمثل المزود الرئيسي للخدمات العلاجية في المدينة والتعرف على الخدمات التشخيصية والعلاجية التي يوفرها والدور الذي يساهم به في إيجاد مجتمع صحي خال من الأمراض في المدينة والمناطق المجاورة لها.
من جانبه أشاد الوفد الزائر بالمستوى المتميز للخدمات التي يوفرها مستشفى الوكرة للمرضى والمراجعين وحصوله على شهادات الجودة والاعتماد الدولي من عدد من مؤسسات الاعتماد الدولية والتزامه بالمعايير العالمية للخدمات التي يقدمها.
