QFFD Sign 7 Agreements to Support Education Sector in Africa, Asia, Latin America

Doha: In cooperation with the Education Above All Foundation (EAA), the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) signed seven agreements to support the education sector in a number of least developed countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America through EAA’s Educate A Child program.

QFFD signed agreements in the Republic of Uganda, the federal republic of Somalia, the Republic of Sierra Leone, the Republic of Tanzania, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Haiti, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum, which concluded Sunday.

These agreements support projects designed to enable access to education for more than 1.6 million out of school children and youth. The agreements focus on several important activities to provide learning skills, including developing educational curricula, refining educational techniques and methods, global citizenship, and improving infrastructure for schools and classrooms. As for the projects, they seek to address the livelihood requirements of water and good food for students, teachers, and teaching staff and ensure the cleanliness of schools with good sanitation.

Awareness campaigns for parents will address the importance of education and combating the problems of child labor and children dropping out of school and will be done in cooperation with local community leaders and influential personalities in the beneficiary countries.

It also aims to empower youth and local stakeholders in the Republic of South Sudan with knowledge and skills essential for human rights advocacy with a focus on the right to education, being the first key to peace, peacebuilding, and sustainable development to become active global citizens in fragile and conflict-affected communities of South Sudan.

HE Director General of QFFD Khalifa Al Kuwari affirmed that these agreements, in cooperation with our strategic partner EAA, are an affirmation of the State of Qatar’s keenness to support education and secure a decent life, achieve peace and justice, which supports the process of sustainable human development through which the desired development goals of the United Nations are achieved.

For his part, Chief Executive Officer of EAA Fahad Al Sulaiti said that the Foundation continues to provide access to quality education opportunities for millions of the world’s most invisible children and is committed to ensuring that all children go to school after having surpassed our goal of enrolling 10 million children into primary education across the world.

الدوحة: وقع صندوق قطر للتنمية 7 اتفاقيات لدعم قطاع التعليم في عدد من الدول الأقل نموا في إفريقيا وآسيا وأمريكا اللاتينية، وذلك في سبيل توفير فرص التعليم الجيد للأطفال خارج المدارس وإلحاقهم بصفوف المدارس النظامية عبر برنامج “علم طفلا” التابع لمؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع.

وقع الصندوق على الاتفاقيات مع وزارات التعليم في كل من جمهورية أوغندا وجمهورية الصومال الفدرالية وجمهورية سيراليون وجمهورية تنزانيا الاتحادية وجمهورية باكستان الإسلامية وجمهورية جنوب السودان وجمهورية هايتي، وذلك على هامش منتدى الدوحة الذي اختتمت أعماله أمس.

وتستهدف الاتفاقيات أكثر من 1.6 مليون طفل خارج المدارس، وتعمل على تطوير المناهج التعليمية وتطوير التقنيات والأساليب التعليمية والعمل على تطوير البنية التحتية للمدارس والصفوف الدراسية وتطوير أنظمة تسجيل الطلاب وحل مشكلة اكتظاظ الصفوف والمساهمة في تحسين سبل وصول الطلاب لمدارسهم وتوفير متطلبات المعيشة من ماء وطعام جيد للطلاب والمعلمين والطاقم التدريسي وضمان نظافة المدارس.

كما تهدف الاتفاقيات إلى تنظيم حملات توعية لأولياء الأمور حول أهمية التعليم ومحاربة مشكلة عمل الأطفال وتسرب الفتيات من المدارس، وذلك بالتعاون مع قادة المجتمعات المحلية في الدول المستفيدة والشخصيات المؤثرة فيما تعمل اتفاقية جنوب السودان على تمكين الشباب والفاعلين المحليين لاكتساب الخبرات والمهارات اللازمة للدفاع عن حقوق الإنسان والتركيز على الحق في التعليم وتحقيق السلام والتنمية المستدامة.

وأكد سعادة السيد خليفة الكواري مدير عام صندوق قطر للتنمية حرص دولة قطر على دعم التعليم لتأمين الحياة الكريمة وتحقيق السلام والعدل من خلال الاتفاقيات الاستراتيجية بين الصندوق وشريكه الاستراتيجي التعليم فوق الجميع ما يدعم عملية التنمية البشرية المستدامة التي تحقق الأهداف التنموية المنشودة للأمم المتحدة.

من جهته قال السيد فهد السليطي الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة “التعليم فوق الجميع” إن المؤسسة تعتزم توفير فرص تعليم جيد لملايين الأطفال الأكثر حرمانا حول العالم بإمكانية الحصول على تعليم جيد والتزامها بضمان ذهاب جميع الأطفال إلى المدرسة بعد أن تجاوزت هدفها المتمثل في إعادة تسجيل 10 ملايين طفل في التعليم الابتدائي في جميع أنحاء العالم.
