3rd International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy Opens in Doha

Doha: The 3rd International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy (SGRE 2022) opened in Doha Sunday, in conjunction with the 7th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity, amidst a large local and international presence.

In remarks on the sidelines of the opening of the two conferences, HE President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari said that the organization of the two conferences, in addition to the accompanying exhibitions, at the same time and location, represents a valuable opportunity to meet and interact specialists.

He noted that more than 600 specialists are taking part in the two events, while the number of submitted papers that will be presented in both conferences reached 120 working papers, in addition to 13 specialized workshops covering the most relevant topics.

Al Kuwari underlined that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to renewable energy in the mixture of clean energy, indicating that Al-Kharsaah renewable energy plant will start production during the second quarter of 2022, with a production reaching 800 megawatts.

He pointed to the State’s tendency to open other stations, in coordination with Qatar Energy to produce an additional 1,400 megawatts, as part of an ambitious plan to produce a mixture of low-carbon energies.

The General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity, which opened earlier today, is considered the largest Arab gathering to discuss issues and challenges facing the electricity sector in the Arab region, and to explore prospects for joint Arab cooperation and action. The current edition is marked by the multiplicity of the events accompanying it, including the meetings of the 14th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, the 37th meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for Electricity, and the meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Union for Electricity.

The conference is being held amidst increasing economic and environmental challenges facing the electric power sector in the Arab world, which prompt decision-makers and specialists in this vital sector to work on developing electric power systems to meet the needs of the population and the various economic sectors.

This edition is also characterized by a series of accompanying events and, most importantly is the exhibition of electrical equipment and supplies for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity in the Arab countries in its tenth edition, which was merged with the main exhibition of the conference. The exhibition aims to develop and introduce this industry, as part of the continuous endeavor to support and encourage the local electrical industries and develop their businesses.

Among the most important topics on the agenda are the common Arab electricity market, which reflects a long process that began since 2001; and the shift towards green energy which was recently included on the agenda of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity.

Meanwhile, the hybrid International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy (SGRE 2022) will bring together experts, researchers and representatives of universities, institutes and the related industry from around the world to discuss ways to integrate smart grids with renewable energy resources in current energy systems.

The conference will discuss over three days the ongoing and future research on next-generation power electronics, and renewable energy technologies and applications through a number of seminars, workshops and public lectures that the conference will include in particular on contemporary industry topics that include smart grids, renewable energy, power electronics, control devices and manufacturing, in addition to communications and computer intelligence.

The 3rd International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy aims to set a long-term agenda for smart grid and renewable energy research by discussing the current smart grid technologies and the extent of their integration with renewable energy sources, thus contributing to the sustainability of energy resources, achieving economic growth, improving the social lifestyle and supporting the provision of a healthy and green environment.

The conference also works on spreading awareness of new industries, presenting the latest smart grid technologies and their benefits, and reviewing their challenges and how to overcome them. The conference will focus in particular on the diversification of energy sources and how to improve investment in f renewable energy and its integration with the smart grid and information and communication technology.

Smart and innovative grids are the key to the energy transformation required to fulfill the responsibilities of climate and energy in the world. The conference may hopefully lead to many opportunities for future cooperation in the field of smart grid to enhance this field in Qatar and abroad.

The 2nd International Conference on Smart Grid and Renewable Energy was held in Doha in November 2019, organized by Texas A&M University in Qatar in cooperation with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), while the 6th General Conference of the Arab Union of Electricity was held in Jordan.

Over the past period, Kahramaa has worked closely with the Arab Union for Electricity, in coordination with Qatar Energy, to ensure the success of these events, by coordinating all necessary organizational and logistical operations, in recognition of their great importance and realizing the vision of the State of Qatar and its pioneering role emphasizing the importance of the Arab unity at all levels and in various vital sectors of strategic importance.

الدوحة: افتتحت يوم أمس بالدوحة، أعمال /المؤتمر الدولي الثالث للشبكات الذكية والطاقة المتجددة 2022 SGRE/ بالتوازي مع المؤتمر العام السابع للاتحاد العربي للكهرباء، وسط حضور محلي ودولي كبير في الحدثين.

وقال سعادة المهندس عيسى بن هلال الكواري رئيس المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء /كهرماء/، إن تنظيم المؤتمرين بالإضافة إلى المعارض المصاحبة لهما في الوقت والموقع ذاته، فرصة قيمة للقاء المختصين والتفاعل فيما بينهم.

وأضاف أن مجموع عدد المشاركين في هذه الفعاليات المتزامنة بلغ أكثر من 600 مشارك من المختصين والمهتمين، فيما بلغ عدد الأوراق المقدمة التي سيتم عرضها فيهما 120 ورقه عمل، إضافة إلى تنظيم 13 ورشة عمل متخصصة تغطي أبرز الموضوعات ذات الصلة.

وأكد الكواري، في تصريح على هامش افتتاح المؤتمرين، أن دولة قطر تولي الطاقة المتجددة اهتماما كبيرا في مزيج الطاقة النظيفة، مبينا أن محطة الخرسعة للطاقة المتجددة ستبدأ الإنتاج خلال الربع الثاني من العام الجاري بإنتاج يصل 800 ميغاواط.

وأشار إلى توجه في الدولة لافتتاح محطات أخرى بالتنسيق مع قطر للطاقة لإنتاج 1400 ميغاواط إضافية، وذلك في إطار خطة طموحة لإنتاج خليط من الطاقات منخفضة الانبعاثات الكربونية.

ويعتبر المؤتمر العام للاتحاد العربي للكهرباء، الذي افتتح في وقت سابق اليوم، التجمع العربي الأضخم لمناقشة القضايا والتحديات التي تواجه قطاع الكهرباء في المنطقة العربية، واستكشاف آفاق التعاون والعمل العربي المشتركة.

وتنبع أهمية الدورة الحالية من المؤتمر العربي للكهرباء، من تعدد الفعاليات المصاحبة لها، حيث تعقد خلالها اجتماعات الدورة الرابعة عشرة للمجلس الوزاري العربي للكهرباء، والاجتماع السابع والثلاثون للمكتب التنفيذي للمجلس الوزاري العربي للكهرباء، كما يعقد اجتماع مجلس الإدارة للاتحاد العربي للكهرباء واجتماع الجمعية العمومية للاتحاد العربي للكهرباء.

وتعقد هذه الدورة في وقت تتزايد فيه التحديات الاقتصادية والبيئية التي يواجهها قطاع الطاقة الكهربائية في الوطن العربي، ما يفرض على صناع القرار والمختصين في هذا القطاع الحيوي العمل على تطوير أنظمة الطاقة الكهربائية في بلدانهم، بما يلبي احتياجات السكان والقطاعات الاقتصادية المختلفة.

كما تتميز بإقامة مجموعة من الفعاليات والأنشطة ذات الصلة بالمؤتمر، على رأسها معرض صناعة المعدات والتجهيزات الكهربائية لإنتاج ونقل وتوزيع الكهرباء في الدول العربية بنسخته العاشرة الذي دمج مع المعرض الرئيسي للمؤتمر. ويهدف معرض صناعة المعدات إلى تنمية هذه الصناعة والتعريف بها، وذلك في إطار السعي المتواصل لدعم وتشجيع الصناعات المحلية الكهربائية وتطوير أعمالها.

وتنظر الدورة في عدة بنود مدرجة على جدول أعمال المؤتمر، من أهمها على الإطلاق موضوعا السوق العربية المشتركة للكهرباء الذي يعبر عن مسيرة طويلة بدأت منذ العام 2001، والتحول نحو الطاقة الخضراء الذي أدرج مؤخرا على جدول أعمال المجلس الوزاري العربي للكهرباء.

أما المؤتمر الدولي الثالث للشبكات الذكية والطاقة المتجددة الذي يعقد (حضوريا وعبر الإنترنت)، فيبحث خلاله خبراء وباحثون وممثلون لبعض الجامعات والمعاهد ورجال هذه الصناعة من أنحاء العالم، سبل تكامل الشبكات الذكية مع موارد الطاقة المتجددة في أنظمة الطاقة الحالية.

ومن المقرر أن يناقش المؤتمر على مدى ثلاثة أيام، الأبحاث الجارية والمستقبلية حول إلكترونيات الطاقة من الجيل التالي، وتقنيات وتطبيقات الطاقة المتجددة من خلال عدد من الحلقات النقاشية وورش العمل والمحاضرات العامة التي سيتضمنها المؤتمر بشكل خاص عن موضوعات الصناعة المعاصرة التي تشمل الشبكات الذكية والطاقة المتجددة وإلكترونيات الطاقة وأجهزة التحكم والتصنيع، إضافة إلى الاتصالات والذكاء الحاسوبي.

ويهدف المؤتمر الدولي الثالث للشبكات الذكية والطاقة المتجددة إلى وضع جدول أعمال طويل المدى لأبحاث الشبكات الذكية والطاقة المتجددة عن طريق مناقشة جدوى التقنيات الحالية للشبكات الذكية ومدى تكاملها مع مصادر الطاقة المتجددة بما يسهم في استدامة موارد الطاقة وتحقيق النمو الاقتصادي وتحسين نمط الحياة الاجتماعية ودعم توفير بيئة صحية وخضراء.

كما يعمل المؤتمر على نشر الوعي بالصناعات الجديدة وتقديم الأحدث في تقنيات الشبكة الذكية وفوائدها واستعراض تحدياتها وكيفية التغلب عليها، ويركز بشكل خاص على تنويع مصادر الطاقة وكيفية تحسين الاستثمار في مجال الطاقة المتجددة وتكاملها مع الشبكة الذكية وتكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات.

وتعتبر الشبكات الذكية والمبتكرة مفتاح تحول الطاقة المطلوب للوفاء بمسؤوليات المناخ والطاقة في العالم، ويؤمل أن يؤدي هذا المؤتمر إلى العديد من فرص التعاون في المستقبل في مجال الشبكة الذكية لتعزيز هذا المجال في قطر وخارجها.

وكانت الدورة الثانية من المؤتمر الدولي للشبكات الذكية والطاقة المتجددة قد عقدت في الدوحة في نوفمبر 2019، بتنظيم من جامعة /تكساس ايه اند ام/ في قطر، وبالتعاون مع المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء /كهرماء/، فيما عقدت النسخة السادسة من المؤتمر العام للاتحاد العربي للكهرباء بالأردن.

وقد عملت المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء /كهرماء/ خلال الفترة الماضية عن قرب مع الاتحاد العربي للكهرباء وبالتنسيق مع قطر للطاقة لإنجاح أعمال هذه الفعاليات، عبر تنسيق كافة العمليات التنظيمية واللوجستية اللازمة، إدراكا لأهميتها الكبيرة وتحقيقا لرؤية دولة قطر ودورها الرائد المؤكد على أهمية وحدة الصف العربي على كافة الأصعدة وفي مختلف القطاعات الحيوية ذات الأهمية الاستراتيجية.
