Qatar Participates in Global Disability Summit 2022

Doha: The State of Qatar is participating in the second Global Disability Summit, which began its work Wednesday in the presence of 800 high-level personalities, including state leaders, heads of government and ministers from various countries of the world.

The virtual summit is jointly hosted by the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Ghana, and the International Disability Alliance.

The delegation of the State of Qatar to the Summit is headed by HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.

The two-day summit will discuss a number of issues and topics aimed at revitalizing global efforts to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and accelerating the efforts aimed at enhancing global and governmental awareness of the rights of this category.

The first summit was held in London in 2018, and sought to shed light on the issues of discrimination and social stigma against one billion people with disabilities around the world.

الدوحة: تشارك دولة قطر في القمة العالمية الثانية لذوي الإعاقة والتي بدأت أعمالها يوم أمس باستضافة مشتركة بين مملكة النرويج وجمهورية غانا، والاتحاد الدولي للإعاقة، بحضور 800 شخصية رفيعة المستوى بينهم قادة دول، ورؤساء حكومات، ووزراء من مختلف دول العالم.

ويترأس وفد دولة قطر في القمة، التي تعقد عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، سعادة السيدة مريم بنت علي بن ناصر المسند وزير التنمية الاجتماعية والأسرة.

وتناقش القمة على مدى يومين عددا من القضايا والموضوعات الهادفة إلى تنشيط الجهود العالمية لتنفيذ معاهدة الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الأفراد من ذوي الإعاقة، وتسريع الجهود الهادفة لتعزيز الوعي العالمي والحكومي بحقوق هذه الفئة من صحة وتعليم وغيرها من الحقوق التي توفر سبل العيش الكريم.

كما تسعى القمة إلى تبني دول العالم والمنظمات والتحالفات المعنية بقضية الإعاقة للميثاق العالمي من أجل التغيير.

وكانت القمة الأولى قد عقدت في لندن خلال العام 2018، وسعت لتسليط الضوء على قضايا التمييز والوصم الاجتماعي الذي يتعرض له مليار شخص من ذوي الإعاقة حول العالم.
