QC Commences WASH Project for Afghan Refugees in Pakistan

Doha: Qatar Charity (QC), in partnership with UNICEF, has recently commenced the implementation of an emergency water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) project in the Afghan camps of Pakistan’s Baluchistan province.
The QR 3.69-million project, which is funded by UNICEF and will be implemented during an eight-month period, is expected to benefit 178,500 Afghan refugees and other people from the host communities of Pakistan.
The emergency WASH project will be implemented in the Afghan refugees’ camps located in 6 districts of Baluchistan. It aims to provide WASH services to the expected beneficiaries, including women and children. The WASH services will include providing safe drinking water, sanitation system, and hygiene awareness, in addition to providing WASH facilities in government health facilities and schools.
This project will enable the target groups to enjoy their rights to a better health by improving sanitation and hygiene services, and contribute to protecting them from water-borne diseases.
Besides, Qatar Charity (QC), in partnership with the UNICEF, is continuing the implementation of a 22-month project Improved health, nutrition and well-being of poor and vulnerable people’ in the Jhang district of Punjab and Quetta and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan.
The project is expected to benefit nearly one million people in the three districts where Qatar Charity has formed village committees, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) clubs, school committees, held training sessions, and displayed awareness materials in public places.
Nearly 23,100 Afghan refugees and orphans benefited from Qatar Charity’s 2021 Udhiyah project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In 2020, Qatar Charity distributed 3,400 hygiene items and dry food packages to Afghan refugees residing in the camps as part of the COVID-19 response.

الدوحة: بدأت قطر الخيرية بالشراكة مع منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة /اليونيسف/ في تنفيذ مشروع المياه والصرف الصحي والنظافة بالمخيمات الأفغانية في ست مقاطعات بباكستان.
ويهدف المشروع، إلى توفير خدمات المياه والصرف الصحي والنظافة المستدامة للمجتمعات الضعيفة والأطفال والنساء، والذي يشمل توفير مياه الشرب الآمنة ونظام الصرف الصحي والتوعية فيما يتعلق بالنظافة والوقاية من العدوى من الأمراض المختلفة ومكافحتها وتوفير سبل النظافة في المرافق الصحية الحكومية والمدارس.
وينتظر أن يستفيد من المشروع، الذي يتم تمويله لمدة ثمانية شهور من قبل /اليونيسف/، أكثر من 178 ألف شخص من اللاجئين والمجتمعات المضيفة، حيث تقدر التكلفة الإجمالية للمشروع بـ3.69 مليون ريال.
وسيمكن هذا المشروع الذي يتم تنفيذه خلال 22 شهرا، المستهدفين من التمتع بحقهم في صحة أفضل من خلال تحسين الصرف الصحي والنظافة والتركيز على الحد من الأمراض المرتبطة بالمياه والصرف الصحي والوقاية منها.
وبالتزامن مع تنفيذ المشروع، تواصل قطر الخيرية بالشراكة مع /اليونيسف/ تنفيذ مشروع لتحسين الصحة والتغذية للفقراء بباكستان، وينتظر أن يستفيد من المشروع نحو مليون شخص في ثلاث مناطق هي جانغ بنجاب ومنطقة كويتا ونصير آباد بلوشستان.
وقال السيد نعمت الله بابر المدير العام للحكومة المحلية في بلوشستان، “إن هذا المشروع قائم على تلبية احتياجات الفئات الفقيرة ونأمل أن تكون قطر الخيرية شريكا رئيسيا على المدى الطويل وأن يفيد مشروعها عددا كبيرا من الناس في المنطقة المستهدفة”.
من جهته، نوه السيد شهيد عباد جويا نائب المفوض في منطقة جانغ بالمشاريع التي تنفذها قطر الخيرية، لافتا إلى أن قطر الخيرية تقوم بتحسين الوضع الاجتماعي والاقتصادي للأشخاص في منطقة جانغ منذ العامين الماضيين، مضيفا أن دور قطر الخيرية خلال الموجة الأولى من جائحة كورونا /كوفيدـ19/ كان ملحوظا.
