Arab League Council at Permanent Delegates Level Condemn Attacks against UAE Civilian Areas

Cairo: The Council of the Arab League at the level of permanent delegates strongly condemned the recent attacks against civilian areas in the United Arab Emirates, which led to the explosion of three oil tankers and left three people killed and six others wounded.
This came in the decision issued by the emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent delegates, held on Sunday under the chairmanship of the State of Kuwait, President of the Council’s current session.
The State of Qatar took part in the meeting with a delegation headed by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League Ambassador Salem Mubarak Al Shafi.
The Council welcomed the solidarity of countries as well as regional and international organizations with the United Arab Emirates, and its condemnation of the attacks that targeted civilian areas and facilities as a “terrorist” attack.
It also welcomed the unified position expressed unanimously by the UN Security Council in its statement issued on Jan. 21, 2022, in which the members of the Council condemned the attacks in the strongest terms.
The Council underlined that these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a real threat to vital civilian facilities, energy supplies and the stability of the global economy.
These attacks also constitute a threat to regional as well as international peace and security, undermine Arab national security, and pose a threat to international commercial shipping lanes, the Council added.
It also affirmed support for UAE’s right to self-defense and response to aggression under international law, commending UAE’s keenness to respect international law, and its compliance with relevant UN resolutions.
It underscored the need for the international community to stand united in the face of this terrorist act that threatens regional along with international peace and stability, urged the UN and the Security Council to assume its responsibilities.
The Council requested the Arab League Secretary-General to follow up on the implementation of this resolution and to submit a report in this regard to the Council at its next 157th ordinary session.

القاهرة: أدان مجلس جامعة الدول العربية على مستوى المندوبين الدائمين بشدة الاعتداءات الأخيرة ضد مناطق مدنية بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، والتي أدت إلى انفجار 3 صهاريج نقل محروقات بترولية، ووفاة ثلاثة أشخاص وإصابة 6 آخرين.
جاء ذلك في قرار صدر في ختام أعمال الاجتماع الطارئ للمجلس برئاسة دولة الكويت رئيس الدورة الحالية لمجلس الجامعة.
وشاركت دولة قطر في أعمال الاجتماع بوفد ترأسه سعادة السفير سالم مبارك آل شافي المندوب الدائم لدولة قطر لدى جامعة الدول العربية.
ورحب المجلس بتضامن الدول والمنظمات الإقليمية والدولية مع الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وتنديدها بالاعتداءات التي وقعت ضد مناطق ومنشآت مدنية بوصفها هجوما “إرهابيا”.
كما رحب بالموقف الموحد الذي عبر عنه مجلس الأمن الدولي التابع للأمم المتحدة في بيانه الصادر يوم 21 يناير 2022، الذي أدان فيه أعضاء المجلس بأشد العبارات تلك الهجمات.
وأكد أن هذه الهجمات تشكل انتهاكا صارخا للقانون الدولي والقانون الدولي الإنساني، وتهديدا حقيقيا على المنشآت المدنية الحيوية وإمدادات الطاقة واستقرار الاقتصاد العالمي، كما تشكل تهديدا للسلم والأمن الإقليميين وتقوض الأمن القومي العربي، وتضر بالأمن والسلم الدوليين، وتشكل خطرا على خطوط الملاحة التجارية الدولية.
وأكد القرار على التضامن المطلق مع دولة الإمارات والوقوف إلى جانبها ودعمها في كل ما تتخذه من إجراءات للدفاع عن أمنها وأمن شعبها والمقيمين على أرضها ومصالحها الوطنية ومقدراتها.
كما أكد المجلس تأييده ودعمه لحق دولة الإمارات في الدفاع عن النفس ورد العدوان بموجب القانون الدولي، مثمناً حرص دولة الإمارات على الالتزام بالقانون الدولي واحترامه وامتثالها لقرارات الأمم المتحدة ذات الصلة.
وأكد ضرورة وقوف المجتمع الدولي صفًا واحدًا في مواجهة هذا العمل الإرهابي الآثم الذي يهدد السلم والاستقرار الإقليمي والدولي، ودعا مجلس الجامعة العربية الأمم المتحدة ومجلس الأمن الدولي إلى تحمل مسؤولياتهما.
وطلب مجلس جامعة الدول العربية على مستوى المندوبين إلى الأمين العام للجامعة العربية متابعة تنفيذ هذا القرار وتقديم تقرير في هذا الشأن إلى المجلس في دورته العادية القادمة في مارس المقبل.
