MOCI Seizes Several Violations at Trade Fairs in Qatar

Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) conducted a surprise inspection campaign at the trade fairs that have recently been held in Qatar.

The operation aims to monitor the extent to which companies participating at the Fairs were complying with their obligations stipulated in Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection.

These investigations form part of the Ministrys efforts to monitor markets and commercial activities across Qatar, control prices and protect consumer rights as well as detecting abuses along with commodities that are falsified, counterfeit or non-conforming to standard specifications.

The campaign resulted in the seizure of various samples of honey, incense and essential oils of unknown origin. The laboratory results proved that the samples do not conform to the standard specifications.

Several violations were released, including displaying and selling fraudulent goods, displaying goods in a manner that contains false and deceptive information and failure to write explanatory data related to the commodity.

In this regard, the Ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its executive regulations, and that it would intensify its inspection campaigns to curb violations. Any party that violates laws and Ministerial decisions will be referred to the relevant authorities who would respond appropriately to protect consumer rights.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة التجارة والصناعة عن ضبط عدد من المخالفات التجارية، خلال الحملة التي نفذتها مؤخراً على المعارض التجارية التي أقيمت بالدولة خلال الفترة الماضية، لمراقبة مدى تقيد الشركات المشاركة بالمعارض بالتزاماتها المنصوص عليها في القانون رقم (8) لسنة 2008 بشأن حماية المستهلك.

وقالت الوزارة، في بيان، إن الحملة التفتيشية المفاجئة أسفرت عن ضبط عينات متنوعة من العسل والبخور والعود والزيوت العطرية مجهولة المصدر، أثبتت النتائج المخبرية أنها غير مطابقة للمواصفات القياسية.

وأشارت إلى أنه تم تحرير عدد من المخالفات تنوعت ما بين عرض وبيع سلع مغشوشة، وعرضها بأسلوب يحتوي على بيانات كاذبة وخادعة، وعدم الالتزام بتدوين البيانات الإيضاحية المتعلقة بالسلعة، الأمر الذي يعد مخالفاً لأحكام المادة رقم (6) من القانون رقم 8 لسنة 2008 بشأن حماية المستهلك.

وأكدت الوزارة أنها ستواصل تكثيف حملاتها التفتيشية لضبط الممارسات المخالفة، وستحيل كل من يخالف القوانين والقرارات الوزارية إلى الجهات المختصة لاتخاذ الإجراءات المناسبة وذلك حماية لحقوق المستهلكين.

كما شددت على أنها ستواجه بحزم كل من يتهاون في الإيفاء بالتزاماته المنصوص عليها في القانون رقم 8 لسنة 2008 بشأن حماية المستهلك ولائحته التنفيذية.

وحثت وزارة التجارة والصناعة جميع المواطنين والمقيمين على الإبلاغ عن أي تجاوزات أو مخالفات عبر مركز الاتصال: 16001 وحساب وزارة التجارة والصناعة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي.
