Ministry of Transport Signs Financial Subsidy Agreement with Qatar Rail

Doha: The Ministry of Transport has signed a Financial Subsidy Agreement with Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) pertaining to the operations of the railway transport network in line with best global practices and standards, thus ensuring providing high-quality, affordable transportation services to the public, in addition to carrying out all works relating to maintaining the railway networks and services to ensure their sustainability.
The agreement was signed by Director of the Technical Affairs Department at the Ministry of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid bin Jassim Al-Thani and Chief of Corporate Support at Qatar Rail Khalifa Hassan Al Jehani, in the presence of HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and HE Minister of Municipality Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, who is the Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Rail.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Transport will support all the measures that promote public transit demand management, including the railways.
The agreement comes in the context of the Ministry of Transports efforts to providing an integrated, world-class, multimodal transit system that offers safe and reliable services in line with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, in a way that promotes social, economic and environmental development objectives, in addition to developing the modes of transportation using the latest universal ecofriendly approaches, and optimally deploying alternative and clean energy in the transportation industry to reduce harmful emissions.

الدوحة: وقعت وزارة المواصلات وشركة سكك الحديد القطرية (الرّيل) اتفاقية دعم مالي لعمليات تشغيل خدمات شبكة النقل بالسكك الحديدية، وفقاً لأفضل الممارسات والمعايير الدولية، بما يضمن توفير خدمات نقل ومواصلات بجودة عالية وأسعار معقولة للجمهور، بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ جميع الأعمال المتعلقة بصيانة الشبكات ومرافق الخدمات الخاصة بالسكك الحديدية للمحافظة على استدامتها.
وقَّع الاتفاقية كل من الشيخ محمد بن خالد بن جاسم آل ثاني مدير إدارة الشؤون الفنية بوزارة المواصلات، والسيد خليفة حسن مبارك الجهني رئيس قطاع الدعم المؤسسي في شركة (الرّيل)، بحضور سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات، وسعادة الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز بن تركي السبيعي وزير البلدية العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لشركة سكك الحديد القطرية .
وبموجب الاتفاقية ستدعم وزارة المواصلات كافة التدابير التي تعزز إدارة الطلب على النقل العام بما فيها السكك الحديدية.
وتأتي هذه الاتفاقية في إطار الجهود التي تقوم بها وزارة المواصلات لتوفير نظام نقل متكامل متعدد الوسائط على مستوى عالمي يقدم خدمات آمنة وموثوق بها، بما يتماشى مع تحقيق ركائز رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 ويعزز أهداف التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والبيئية، بالإضافة إلى تطوير وسائل النقل وفق أحدث الأنظمة العالمية الصديقة للبيئة، وتوظيف الطاقة البديلة والنظيفة في مجال النقل والمواصلات على النحو الأمثل، للحد من الانبعاثات الضارة.
