Commencement of A-Ring Road Development Project
بدء تنفيذ مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الأول
As part of its efforts to enhance traffic flow and ease congestion in the centre of Doha, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ commenced implementation of the A-Ring Road Development project.
Eng. Mohammed Arqoub Al-Khaldi, Head of Doha City Projects in Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department, said: “The importance of the project is that it will develop a vital road characterised by its heavy traffic movement as it connects many commercial and residential areas as well as development projects in Doha such as the Msheireb Downtown Doha project.”
Eng. Mohammed Arqoub Al-Khaldi explained that the project aims to enhance the capacity of the A-Ring Road by increasing the number of its lanes from two to four lanes in each direction along the road length of about 6.7 km. This is in addition to developing some of the streets perpendicular to the A-Ring Road, and developing service roads on both sides of the road.
Eng. Al-Khaldi added that the A-Ring Road project includes the development of nine intersections, which will contribute to enhancing the traffic flow and improving movement in the area. This includes converting Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection, as well as developing all of Al-Rifaa Intersection, Al-Diwan Intersection, Hamad Al-Kabeer Intersection, Nasser bin Khalid Intersection, Al-Kahrabaa Intersection, the AKA Msheireb Intersection, the AKA Al-Asmakh Intersection, and the AKA Sofitel Intersection.
The A-Ring Road Development Project also includes increasing the number of parking bays, installing street lighting, constructing pedestrian and cycle lanes, providing road signs and pedestrian crossings to enhance road safety, and landscaping. Infrastructure services will also be developed as part of the project, such as upgrading the stormwater drainage system to avoid water accumulation during the rainy season, and developing the existing potable water network and irrigation network, , and drainage network.
Ashghal has started implementing the first phase of the project which has been divided into five phases. Implementation of the other four phases will start in the coming period. All phases of the project will be completed by the end of 2019.
In order to reduce the impact of construction works on the area’s residents and visitors during the project period, all entrances to residential areas and commercial establishments will remain open to traffic, in addition to maintaining the same number of lanes on the A-Ring Road along the implementation period.
Ashghal will also implement a number of measures to reduce noise from construction works, such as using special equipment that produce less noise, implementing excavation works during certain hours of the day to minimise inconvenience for area’s residents, and using water tanks to spray water during excavation works to control the resulting dust.
في إطار جهودها لتعزيز الانسيابية المرورية وتخفيف الازدحام بمناطق وسط الدوحة، بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” بتنفيذ أعمال مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الأول.
وبهذه المناسبة، صرّح المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي، رئيس قسم مشاريع مدينة الدوحة بإدارة مشاريع الطرق في “أشغال”: “تكمن أهمية المشروع بأنه سيعمل على تطوير طريق حيوي يتميز بكثافة الحركة المرورية عليه، كونه يربط العديد من المناطق التجارية والسكنية وكذلك المشاريع التطويرية في منطقة الدوحة مثل مشروع مشيرب قلب الدوحة.”
وأوضح المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي أن المشروع يهدف إلى تعزيز الطاقة الاستيعابية للطريق الدائري الأول من خلال زيادة عدد مساراته من مسارين إلى أربعة مسارات في كل اتجاه على امتداد الطريق بطول حوالي 6.7 كيلومتر، هذا بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ أعمال لتطوير بعض الشوارع المتعامدة على الدائري الأول، وكذلك تطوير الطرق الخدمية على جانبيه.
وأضاف المهندس الخالدي أن أعمال مشروع الطريق الدائري الأول تشمل تطوير تسعة تقاطعات مما سيساهم في تعزيز الانسيابية المرورية وتحسين التنقل بالمنطقة، بما في ذلك تحويل دوار دار الكتب إلى تقاطع بإشارات مرورية، و وتطوير كل من تقاطع الرفاع، وتقاطع الديوان، وتقاطع حمد الكبير، وتقاطع ناصر بن خالد، وتقاطع الكهرباء، والتقاطع المعروف بتقاطع مشيرب، والتقاطع المعروف بتقاطع الأصمخ، والتقاطع المعروف بتقاطع السوفيتيل.
تشمل أعمال تطوير الطريق الدائري الأول أيضاً زيادة عدد مواقف السيارات، وتركيب أنظمة إنارة الشوارع، وإنشاء ممرات للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، وتوفير اللوحات الإرشادية وعلامات الطريق وممرات عبور المشاة لتعزيز السلامة المرورية على الطريق، بالإضافة إلى تنفيذ أعمال التشجير والتجميل. كما يتضمن المشروع أعمال لتطوير خدمات البنية التحتية بالمنطقة مثل تحديث شبكة تصريف مياه الأمطار لتفادي تجمعات المياه خلال موسم الأمطار، وكذلك تطوير شبكة مياه الشرب القائمة وشبكة الري وشبكة الصرف الصحي
هذا وقد بدأت “أشغال” بتنفيذ المرحلة الأولى من المشروع الذي تم تقسيمه إلى خمس مراحل، وسيتوالى بدء تنفيذ المراحل الأربعة المتبقية خلال الفترة القادمة، على أن يتم الانتهاء من جميع مراحل المشروع في نهاية عام 2019.
وبهدف تخفيف تأثير الأعمال على سكان ومرتادي المنطقة خلال فترة تنفيذ المشروع، سيتم إبقاء جميع مداخل المناطق السكنية والمنشآت التجارية مفتوحة، إضافة إلى المحافظة على نفس عدد المسارات الحالية للطريق الدائري الأول مفتوحة أمام المرور طيلة فترة تنفيذ المشروع.
كما ستقوم “أشغال” بتنفيذ مجموعة من الإجراءات للحد من الضوضاء الناتجة عن الأعمال مثل توفير معدات خاصة ذات ضوضاء أقل، وتنفيذ أعمال الحفر خلال ساعات محددة من اليوم بما يضمن تقليص الإزعاج لسكان المنطقة، بالإضافة إلى استخدام صهاريج لرش المياه خلال تنفيذ أعمال الحفر وذلك للسيطرة على الغبار الناتج عنها، مع إبقاء نواتج الحفر والدفان مغطاة بشكل دائم.
