Qatar Committed to Peace, Stability Process in Afghanistan

Doha: In its editorial Monday, The Peninsula underlined Qatar’s commitment to peace and stability process in Afghanistan, and its commitment to support partners and allied countries in evacuations from Afghanistan and in providing the necessary platform for them to facilitate dialogue between them and the interim government of Afghanistan.
The newspaper said that the State of Qatar is constantly urging the parties concerned to engage in a dialogue that brings together the Afghans, stressing the importance of adhering to international laws and agreements, including the Doha Agreement reached between the US and the Taliban in 2020,0 and what was agreed upon in regard to the fight against terrorism.
The Peninsula added that the United States and the Taliban have resumed talks, the first in-person meeting since the US forces withdrew from Afghanistan in August and the Taliban took over control of the country after 20 years of US military presence.
The newspaper noted that this development confirms that the State of Qatar not only encourages the parties to reach an agreement but also works to follow up on the implementation of what was agreed upon and bring the parties closer for a positive cooperative relation that serves the Afghan people.
The paper also stressed that the State of Qatar believes that enhancing peace in Afghanistan and preserving what the Afghan people have gained over the past years requires not to isolate Afghanistan, rather to invest in peace and stability by launching implementation of development programmes, creating jobs and addressing the root cause for migration and terrorism.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that the State of Qatar is known for its serious and fruitful partnerships in promoting international peace, security, human rights, and respect for the international obligations as well as its initiatives in various fields to support multilateral international action.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن دولة قطر تحث باستمرار الأطراف المعنية على الانخراط في حوار يجمع الأفغان، مؤكدة على أهمية الالتزام بالقوانين والاتفاقيات الدولية، بما في ذلك اتفاقية الدوحة التي تم التوصل إليها بين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية و/طالبان/ عام 2020، بالإضافة إلى ما تم الاتفاق عليه حول مكافحة الإرهاب.
وأضافت أن الولايات المتحدة و/طالبان/ استأنفتا المحادثات، في أول لقاء شخصي منذ انسحاب القوات الأمريكية من أفغانستان في /أغسطس/ وسيطرة /طالبان/ على البلاد بعد 20 عامًا من الوجود العسكري الأمريكي.
وأشارت إلى أن هذا التطور يؤكد أن دولة قطر لا تشجع الأطراف على التوصل إلى اتفاق فحسب، بل تعمل أيضًا على متابعة تنفيذ ما تم الاتفاق عليه وتقريب الأطراف من أجل علاقة تعاون إيجابية تخدم الشعب الأفغاني.
وشددت /البننسولا/ على أن دولة قطر تؤمن بأن تعزيز السلام في أفغانستان والحفاظ على ما اكتسبه الشعب الأفغاني خلال السنوات الماضية يتطلب عدم عزل أفغانستان، مؤكدة على أهمية الاستثمار في السلام والاستقرار، من خلال إطلاق برامج تنموية وخلق فرص عمل ومعالجة الأسباب الجذرية للهجرة والإرهاب.
واختتمت الصحيفة افتتاحيتها بالإشارة إلى أن دولة قطر تشتهر بشراكاتها الجادة والمثمرة في تعزيز السلم والأمن الدوليين وحقوق الإنسان واحترام الالتزامات الدولية ومبادراتها في مختلف المجالات، لدعم العمل الدولي متعدد الأطراف.
