Hamad Port to Become First MENA 5G-Enabled Seaport

Doha: Ooredoo announced the completion of its 5G rollout for Phase 1 of deployment at Hamad Port Container Terminal 2, a project that commenced in June 2020 in partnership with the terminals operator, QTerminals. This milestone means that Hamad Port is the first 5G-enabled seaport in Middle East, powered by Ooredoo.

Implementation of Ooredoos groundbreaking 5G network at Container Terminal 2 covers an area of more than 571,000 square meters, and the two partners are now rolling out actual 5G use cases that leverage the phenomenal capabilities of 5G to increase the benefits the terminal offers its customers. Key operations at Container Terminal 2 will now benefit from ultra-fast speed, low latency and real time-data that can be used for remote crane and rubber-tyred gantry operations, connected assets, remote inspection and maintenance, data center connectivity, and much more.

The completion of Phase 1 rollout was celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony, attended by Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Bin Nasser Al Thani, Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo and Neville Bissett, Group Chief Executive Officer at QTerminals, on 3rd October 2021.

This latest rollout completion brings Ooredoo 5G coverage to some 90% of populated areas in Qatar, with tested mobile data speeds proven to reach up to 1.2Gbps with a 5G handset. The capabilities of Ooredoos phenomenal 5G network have also been tested with other use cases, including a virtual fan experience and autonomous vehicles.

الدوحة: استكملت شركة “أُريدُ” المرحلة الأولى من نشر شبكة/ 5G / في محطة الحاويات( 2 ) بميناء حمد، وهو مشروع بدأ العمل فيه في يونيو 2020 بالشراكة مع شركة “كيوتيرمنلز” التي تتولى إدارة الميناء.

وبذلك يصبح ميناء حمد أول ميناء بحري في الشرق الأوسط يعمل بتكنولوجيا 5G المتطورة من “أُريدُ”.

ويغطي المشروع مساحة تزيد على 571 ألف متر مربع، ويستعد الطرفان في الوقت الحالي للانتقال إلى نشر استخدامات شبكة 5G التي تسهم في الاستفادة من القدرات الاستثنائية لهذه التكنولوجيا، والمساهمة في زيادة المزايا والفوائد التي توفرها محطة الحاويات للعملاء.

وستتمكن العمليات الرئيسية التي تجري في محطة الحاويات( 2 ) الآن من الاستفادة من السرعات الفائقة وانخفاض فترات التأخير والبيانات الفورية، وستتمكن أيضاً من الاستفادة من هذه التكنولوجيا في التحكم عن بُعد في تشغيل الرافعات، والقاطرات العملاقة ذات العجلات المطاطية، والأصول المتصلة والتفتيش والصيانة عن بعد والاتصال بمراكز البيانات، وغيرها، حيث تم اختبار قدرات شبكة 5G من “أُريدُ” في استخدامات أخرى تشمل التجربة الافتراضية للمشجعين، والمركبات ذاتية القيادة.

وبهذه المناسبة، عبر سعادة الشيخ ناصر بن حمد بن ناصر آل ثاني، رئيس الشؤون التجارية في “أُريدُ” عن سعادته بالإنجازات التي حققتها الشركة في مسيرتها لنشر تكنولوجيا 5G.

وقال إن شبكة 5G من “أُريدُ” تُعد أحد أهم العناصر التي تمكّن الشركات من الاستفادة من الاستخدامات المبتكرة والمتطورة التي ستشكل الأساس الذي يشغل مختلف الخدمات والأعمال في الدول الذكية، بالإضافة إلى أن التعاون مع العديد من الشركات القطرية الكبرى يدل على الالتزام الراسخ باستغلال قوة التكنولوجيا للتمكن من دعم العملاء في سعيهم للبقاء في المقدمة في القطاعات التي يعملون بها.

من جانبه، أعرب السيد نيفيل بيسيت، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة /كيوتيرمنلز/ عن سعادته بالعمل مع “أُريدُ”، في نشر تكنولوجيا 5G في الميناء بحيث يصبح ميناء حمد أول ميناء بحري في الشرق الأوسط مزود بهذه التكنولوجيا.. موضحا أن رؤية شركته هي تحويل دولة قطر إلى مركز إقليمي رئيسي للأعمال يستخدم أحدث التكنولوجيا والأنظمة الحديثة.

وأشار إلى أن هذا الإنجاز يعد خطوة أخرى في تمكين استخدامات جديدة ترتقي بممارسات الشركة وعملياتها الحالية وتحويلها إلى ممارسات آلية، مما سيسهم في زيادة المرونة والإنتاجية.

وتعمل شركة /كيوتيرمنلز/ في تشغيل محطات الموانئ البحرية، وأسست بالشراكة بين موانئ قطر وشركة ملاحة.

وتتمثل رؤية الشركة في أن تكون أفضل مشغل للموانئ البحرية في المنطقة.

ومع انتهاء هذه المرحلة، أصبحت شبكة 5G من “أُريدُ” تغطي حوالي 90 بالمائة من المناطق المأهولة في قطر، وقد وصلت سرعات بيانات الجوال المثبتة التي تم التحقق منها إلى 1.2 غيغابت بالثانية باستخدام جهاز متوافق مع 5G.
