Transportation Plans in Qatar Do Not Stop: MoTC

Doha: HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti underscored that the plans of the transportation sector linked to Qatar National Vision 2030 do not stop at a certain limit, noting that in 2022 everyone will see an integrated public transport system in the country, with applications and an integrated linkage system for access destinations that could be the first of its kind in the Middle East if not in the world.

This came in a statement by HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti on the sidelines of the three-day Transport Engineering Conference and Exhibition, which started yesterday.

Organized by the Qatar Society of Engineers under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MOTC), the Transport Engineering Conference and Exhibition is the first of its kind, as it is characterized by its comprehensiveness in discussing the three recognized branches of transportation (Land, Air, and Sea). The conference is not only concerned with means of transportation, but also discusses the ability to use engineering standards and prepare appropriate designs, research, development, and follow-up everything new in the transportation engineering sector, and even offering alternatives to engineering solutions for road, railway and airport projects, as well as choosing the most appropriate technical and economic solutions, in an attempt to develop and update everything related to this sector.

HE the Minister of Transport and Communications stressed the importance of this conference and the accompanying exhibition in capacity-building, strengthening cooperation and exchanging ideas between all the participating parties or those associated with transportation, whether from MOTC or the Qatar Society of Engineers, as well as the supporting bodies and those operating in the Qatari market, pointing out that the process of linking all these people with one system and idea, will allow them to see the developments in the transportation sector.

The conference and the accompanying exhibition represent a great opportunity to present what has been accomplished, whether before or after 2022 in the transportation sector, he added.

HE the Minister pointed out that the transportation sector is linked to the Qatar National Vision 2030, explaining that a very large part was implemented before the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and that a large part will also be implemented from the beginning of 2023. He stressed that transportation plans in Qatar do not stop at a certain point. HE the Minister explained that there is always a clear vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and a clear vision of the strategies of MOTC to build an advanced transportation system that emulates the most advanced countries.

He said that during the coming year, everyone will see an integrated public transport system in the State of Qatar, with applications and an integrated linkage system for access destinations that could be the first of its kind to be adopted in the Middle East region and even in the whole world, in addition to that 30 percent of transportation in Qatar will become environmentally friendly.

HE the Minister pointed out that public transportation does not mean only passengers, but also goods, supplies, and other means of transportation from “bicycles to planes,” stressing that Qatar’s future in this sector is prosperous and constantly advanced.

Regarding the Hamad International Airport expansion project, HE the Minister of Transport and Communications said that the ministry is committed to the date set by the Steering Committee in the second quarter of 2022, and it is working in full swing to complete this project on time so that the airport will be almost ready on or before this date.

He added that Qatar will have two airports ready to receive any increased numbers arriving in the country, stressing that the ability of the State of Qatar to host the FIFA World Cup event will amaze the world.

HE the Minister of Transport and Communications inaugurated the specialized exhibition accompanying the conference. During his tour of its pavilions, he was briefed on the quality of its participation in the various sectors of transportation as the exhibition allows the participating public and private agencies to display their products, engineering solutions, and everything new in this field. HE the Minister honored the sponsors of the conference. 

For his part, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society for Engineers Eng. Khalid bin Ahmed Al Nasr said that the Transport Engineering Conference and Exhibition is the first of its kind organized by the Society in the State of Qatar, and it will address the three main axes of the land, sea and air transportation sector and engineering.

During the speech that he delivered at the beginning of the conference, he explained that in the land field, the conference will address issues related to infrastructures, such as roads, bridges, tunnels, the rail network, trams, and highways, while in the maritime sector, the conference will highlight ports, and the latest methods of customs clearance and organizing the storage of goods in the ports.

As for the axis of air transport, the conference will address the subject of airports, recreational areas associated with them, types of aircraft and everything new in the field of aviation, in addition to other findings in the three areas, as well as topics that highlight the transportation engineering techniques, he added.

He thanked the sponsors and participating parties, explaining that the three-days conference will deal with about 25 papers and that 24 parties will participate in the accompanying exhibition.

In his speech during the opening ceremony, Deputy CEO at Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA) Abdulla Al Misnad said that the authority is one of the institutions that seek to attract investments in vital sectors.

In this context, he reviewed a number of global partnership projects that it is hosting in the transport and communications sector, including those related to modern technical solutions.

He also pointed out the authority’s ongoing relations with the concerned authorities and local investors, to provide the appropriate environment by hosting a number of transport-related projects in its various sectors, which reflects the state’s ambition and commitment to become a leading regional center in this field – based on its belief in its significance.

It is worth mentioning that the State of Qatar had an early understanding of the importance of developing and modernizing the infrastructure of the transportation sector to support the various economic, industrial and service sectors, especially in light of the rapid population growth and the strong economic expansion that the country has witnessed during the past years.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications continues to work effortlessly to establish a global transport infrastructure, and establish a smart land, sea and air transport system that operates according to the latest sustainable-development-supporting technologies, while keeping pace with the requirements of the government, and aims to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.

الدوحة: أكد سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات ، أن خطط قطاع المواصلات المرتبط برؤية قطر 2030 لا تتوقف عند حد معين ، مشيرا بهذا الصدد إلى أن الجميع سيشاهد خلال السنة المقبلة نظام نقل عام متكامل في الدولة ، بتطبيقات ونظام ربط متكامل لجهات الوصول يحتذى به يمكن أن يكون الأول من نوعه في منطقة الشرق الأوسط إن لم يكن في العالم.

جاء ذلك في تصريح لسعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي على هامش /مؤتمر ومعرض هندسة المواصلات/ الذي بدأت فعالياته يوم الأمس وتستمر لمدة ثلاثة أيام.

ويعد /مؤتمر ومعرض هندسة المواصلات/ الذي تنظمه جمعية المهندسين القطرية برعاية وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات ، هو المؤتمر الأول من نوعه، ويتميز بشموليته في مناقشة فروع المواصلات الثلاثة ، البرية والجوية والبحرية ، وأيضا موضوع القدرة على استخدام المعايير الهندسية وإعداد التصاميم المناسبة والبحث والتطوير ومتابعة كل ما هو جديد في قطاع هندسة المواصلات، فضلا عن طرح بدائل الحلول الهندسية لمشاريع الطرق والسكك الحديدية والمطارات والموانئ، واختيار الحل الأنسب فنيا واقتصاديا ، في محاولة لتطوير وتحديث كل ما يتعلق بهذا القطاع .

وأكد سعادة وزير المواصلات والاتصالات أهمية هذا المؤتمر والمعرض المصاحب له ، وتحقيق الاستفادة من انعقاده في بناء القدرات وتعزيز التعاون وتبادل الأفكار بين جميع الجهات المشاركة أو المرتبطة بالمواصلات ، سواء من الوزارة أو جمعية المهندسين القطرية ، وكذا الجهات الداعمة وتلك التي تعمل في السوق القطري ، لافتا إلى أن عملية ربط كل هؤلاء بمنظومة وفكرة واحدة ، سيتيح لهم الاطلاع على كل ما هو جديد في قطاع المواصلات.

وقال إن المؤتمر والمعرض المصاحب يمثل فرصة كبيرة لعرض ما تم انجازه سواء قبل عام 2022 أو ما يتم بعد هذا التاريخ في قطاع المواصلات.

وأشار سعادته إلى أن قطاع المواصلات مرتبط برؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 ، موضحا أنه تم تنفيذ جزئية كبيرة جدا في هذا الخصوص وقبل بطولة كأس العالم في كرة القدم بدولة قطر 2022 ، كما أن جزءا كبيرا سيتم تنفيذه أيضا من بداية عام 2023 ، لافتا إلى أن خطط المواصلات في قطر لا تتوقف عند حد معين ، مضيفا القول في هذا الصدد ” هناك دائما رؤية واضحة من قبل حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى ، وكذلك رؤية واضحة لاستراتيجيات وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات نحو بناء نظام مواصلات متقدم يحاكي أكثر الدول تقدما “.

وقال إن الجميع سيشاهد خلال السنة القادمة نظام نقل عام متكامل في دولة قطر، بتطبيقات ونظام ربط متكامل لجهات الوصول يحتذى به ، يمكن أن يكون الأول من نوعه الذي يتم تبنيه في منطقة الشرق الأوسط بل وفي العالم كله، فضلا عن أن 30 بالمئة من وسائل النقل العام بدولة قطر ستصبح صديقة للبيئة .

وأشار سعادته إلى أن كلمة المواصلات عامة لا تعني الركاب فقط بل البضائع والامدادات وغيرها من وسائل النقل الأخرى من /السايكل إلى الطائرات/ ، مؤكدا أن مستقبل قطر في هذا القطاع زاهر ، ومتقدم باستمرار وسينعكس كل ذلك على أرض الواقع.

وفيما يعنى بمشروع توسعة مطار حمد الدولي ، قال سعادة وزير المواصلات والاتصالات ” نحن ملتزمون بالتاريخ الذي حددته اللجنة التسييرية في الربع الثاني من عام 2022 ، وأنها تعمل على قدم وساق للانتهاء من هذا المشروع في الوقت المحدد ، ليكون المطار جاهزا تقريبا في هذا التاريخ أو قبله “.

وأضاف قائلا في سياق ذي صلة ” سيكون لدينا مطاران جاهزان لاستقبال أي أعداد متزايدة تصل البلاد ، فقدرة دولة قطر على استضافة حدث كأس العالم في كرة القدم ستبهر العالم”.

وقد افتتح وزير المواصلات والاتصالات المعرض المتخصص المصاحب للمؤتمر ، واستمع خلال جولته في أجنحته عن نوعية مشاركاتها في قطاعات المواصلات المختلفة ، فضلا عن كون المعرض يتيح للجهات الحكومية والخاصة المشاركة فيه،عرض منتجاتها وحلولها الهندسية وكل ما هو جديد في هذا المجال ، كما كرم سعادته بهذه المناسبة رعاة المؤتمر.

من ناحيته قال المهندس خالد بن أحمد النصر رئيس مجلس إدارة جمعية المهندسين القطرية ، إن /مؤتمر ومعرض هندسة المواصلات/ هو الأول من نوعه الذي تنظمه الجمعية في دولة قطر، وسيتناول المحاور الرئيسية الثلاثة لقطاع وهندسة المواصلات البرية والبحرية والجوية.

وأوضح في الكلمة التي ألقاها في مستهل المؤتمر، أنه في المجال البري سيتناول المؤتمر موضوعات تعنى بالبنية التحتية من طرق وجسور وأنفاق وشبكة /الريل / والترام والطرق السريعة، وفي القطاع البحري سيتم تسليط الضوء على الموانئ وأحدث الطرق في التخليص الجمركي وتنظيم تخزين البضائع في الموانئ ، بينما سيتم في محور النقل الجوي تناول موضوع المطارات والمناطق الترفيهية المرتبطة بها وأنواع الطائرات وكل ما هو جديد بمجال الطيران، وغير ذلك مما تم التوصل اليه في المجالات الثلاثة والمواضيع والعناوين الهامة التي تسلط الضوء على تقنيات هندسة المواصلات.

وأعرب عن الشكر للرعاة والجهات المشاركة، موضحا أن المؤتمر سيتناول نحو 25 ورقة عمل على مدى أيامه الثلاثة ، فيما تشارك 24 جهة في المعرض المصاحب له.

من جهته قال السيد عبدالله المسند، نائب الرئيس التنفيذي لهيئة المناطق الحرة، في كلمته خلال حفل الافتتاح، إن الهيئة تعد إحدى المؤسسات التي تسعى لاستقطاب الاستثمارات في القطاعات الحيوية، مستعرضا في هذا السياق عددا من مشاريع الشراكات العالمية التي تستضيفها في قطاع النقل والمواصلات بما في ذلك تلك التي توظف الحلول التقنية الحديثة بما يتماشى وأهداف الدولة.

كما أشار إلى تواصل الهيئة مع الجهات المعنية والمستثمرين المحليين لتوفير البيئة المناسبة باستضافة عدد من المشاريع المتعلقة بالنقل في قطاعاته المختلفة وبما يعكس طموح الدولة والتزامها في أن تصبح مركزا اقليميا رائدا في هذا المجال ايمانا منها بأهميته.

يذكر أن دولة قطر قد أدركت مبكرا أهمية تطوير وتحديث البنية التحتية لقطاع المواصلات لدعم القطاعات الاقتصادية والصناعية والخدمية المتنوعة ، خاصة في ظل النمو السكاني السريع والتوسع الاقتصادي القوي الذي شهدته الدولة خلال السنوات الماضية، وذلك انطلاقا من أن قطاع النقل والمواصلات يعتبر ركيزة أساسية لاي عملية تطوير تتم ضمن خطط التنمية الاقتصادية والصناعية والاجتماعية التي تشهدها مختلف دول العالم.

وفي ضوء توجه الدولة الهادف الى التحول للاقتصاد الرقمي القائم على المعرفة ، تواصل وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات العمل بدأب لإرساء بنية تحتية عالمية للنقل وانشاء منظومة مواصلات برية وبحرية وجوية ذكية ، تعمل وفق أحدث التقنيات التكنولوجية الداعمة للتنمية المستدامة، وتواكب في نفس الوقت متطلبات حكومة قطر الذكية ، وتصب في تحقيق رؤية قطر.
