‘Adopting Integrative Government Approach Was Essential to Address Big Challenge Like COVID-19’

Doha: HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari underlined that importance of collaborative work, noting that the adoption of an integrative government approach based on the principles of science and comprehensive healthcare was an essential element to address a great challenge like the COVID-19 pandemic.
HE the Minister of Public Health indicated that the availability of an integrated, strong, and well-prepared health system for emergencies, in addition to the good management of this system during the crisis, helped save many lives and keep the death rate low, as well as keeping the country’s economy as active as possible.
This came during HE the Minister of Public Health’s participation as a guest of honor and a keynote speaker in the first day of a webinar organized by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) under the title “Towards a Post-Pandemic World: Lessons from COVID-19 for Now and the Future”.
The first day of the webinar featured two keynotes for HE Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari titled “A Blueprint for a Whole-of-Society Approach to Health Care”; and for HE former Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark titled “A Vision for the Future”.
HE the Minister of Public Health believed that health systems in some countries can become more resilient and stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic and the enormous challenges associated with it, by learning from the lessons obtained during the pandemic and building future strategies and plans on them.
HE the Minister noted that harnessing the collective experiences gained during this pandemic can help ensure that the health systems are well prepared for future challenges and able to detect future health crises early, thus avoiding a state of paralysis in societies and ensuring a quick and safe recovery from these health crises.
The webinar, which continues till Friday, examines broadly the response to COVID-19 in the United States and abroad, and explores how analyzing COVID-19 through a syndemic approach could help contextualize health consequences and disease interactions in a populations underlying social, environmental and economic characteristics.
Based in the United States, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) are private, nonprofit institutions that provide expert advice on some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation and world. Their work helps shape sound policies, inform public opinion, and advance the pursuit of science, engineering, and medicine.

الدوحة: أكدت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزير الصحة العامة، أهمية العمل التعاوني، لافتة إلى أن اتباع منهجية حكومية تكاملية وقائمة على مبادئ العلم والرعاية الصحية الشاملة مثل عنصرا أساسيا لمواجهة تحد بحجم جائحة كورونا /كوفيد-19/.
وأشارت سعادتها إلى أن توفر نظام صحي متكامل وقوي ومعد جيدا لحالات الطوارئ، بالإضافة إلى حسن إدارة هذا النظام خلال الأزمة، ساعد على إنقاذ العديد من الأرواح وإبقاء معدل الوفيات منخفضا، إلى جانب إبقاء اقتصاد البلاد نشطا لأقصى درجة ممكنة.
جاء ذلك خلال مشاركة سعادة وزير الصحة العامة كضيف شرف ومتحدث رئيسي في اليوم الأول من ورشة عمل الأكاديميات الوطنية للعلوم والهندسة والطب بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية (NASEM) والتي تعقد افتراضيا تحت عنوان /نحو عالم ما بعد جائحة “كوفيد-19”.. الدروس المستفادة من الجائحة للحاضر والمستقبل/.
وشهد اليوم الأول لورشة العمل إلقاء كلمتين رئيسيتين.. فبالإضافة لكلمة سعادة الدكتورة حنان الكواري تحت عنوان /التخطيط لمنهجية رعاية صحية تشمل المجتمع بأكمله/، ألقت سعادة السيدة هيلين كلارك رئيسة وزراء نيوزيلندا السابقة كلمة بعنوان /رؤية للمستقبل/.
وأعربت سعادة وزير الصحة العامة، عن ثقتها في أن الأنظمة الصحية في بعض الدول يمكنها أن تصبح أكثر مرونة وقوة بعد هذه الجائحة وما ارتبط بها من تحديات هائلة، وذلك من خلال التعلم من الدروس المستفادة خلال الجائحة وبناء الاستراتيجيات والخطط المستقبلية عليها.
وبينت قائلة “إنه من خلال تسخير خبراتنا الجماعية المكتسبة خلال هذه الجائحة، نضمن أن تكون أنظمتنا الصحية مستعدة بشكل جيد للتحديات المستقبلية وقادرة على اكتشاف الأزمات الصحية المستقبلية في وقت مبكر لتجنب حدوث حالة شلل في المجتمعات وضمان التعافي من هذه الأزمات الصحية بصورة سريعة وآمنة”.
وتتناول العروض التقديمية المشاركة في ورشة العمل، التي تستمر حتى بعد غد /الجمعة/، منهجيات الاستجابة المختلفة لجائحة فيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/ داخل الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وخارجها، كما تتضمن الجلسات مناقشات حول تأثيرات الجائحة على صحة الإنسان والمجتمع.
جدير بالذكر أن الأكاديميات الوطنية للعلوم والهندسة والطب (NASEM) هي مجموعة من المؤسسات المستقلة وغير الربحية بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية تقدم الاستشارات في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والسياسات الصحية، وتتألف من ثلاث أكاديميات هي الأكاديمية الوطنية للعلوم، والأكاديمية الوطنية للهندسة، والأكاديمية الوطنية للطب.
