Qatari technical team arrives in Kabul to discuss airport reopening: Reports

Doha: Media reports circulated news of the arrival of a Qatari team of technical specialists in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday, to discuss the reopening of the airport.
According to AFP and CNN, the technical team travelled to Kabul on a Qatari plane at the request of the Taliban.
The aim was to resume flights to and from Kabul in order to provide humanitarian assistance and freedom of movement in security and peace.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, noted during a press conference with the German Foreign Minister yesterday, that the issue of the management of Kabul airport is still in the process of discussion and evaluation, stressing that there are many aspects that need to be evaluated both in the security and technical aspects.
His Excellency explained that it was not possible to judge now whether assistance could be provided.
“This will be seen in the coming days, but we consider the reopening of the airport to be one of the most important issues for Afghanistan in order to achieve one of the commitments that the Taliban have mentioned in the past, namely, to allow freedom of movement.”
“We believe that freedom of movement is one of the most important things that the Taliban can prove to the international community that the situation in Afghanistan is stable, and we believe that this is an important indicator for us in Qatar and also important for our allies in all countries.”

الدوحة: تداولت تقارير إعلامية أنباء وصول فريق قطري من المختصين التقنيين إلى العاصمة الأفغانية، كابول، الأربعاء، لمناقشة إعادة افتتاح المطار.
ووفق وكالة فرانس برس وشبكة CNN الأمريكية فإن الفريق التقني سافر إلى كابول على متن طائرة قطرية بناء على طلب من حركة طالبان.
وأشارت إلى أن الهدف هو استئناف الرحلات من وإلى كابول من أجل تقديم المساعدة الإنسانية وحرية الحركة بأمن وسلام.
وكان سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، قد أشار خلال مؤتمر صحفي مع وزير الخارجية الالماني أمس، إلى أن مسألة إدارة مطار كابول لاتزال في طور النقاش والتقييم، مؤكداً أن هناك كثيرا من الجوانب التي تحتاج إلى تقييم سواء في الشق الأمني أو الفني.
وأوضح سعادته أنه من غير الممكن الحكم الآن على ما إذا كان يمكن تقديم المساعدة أم لا.
وأضاف سعادته قائلاً “سيتبين ذلك خلال الأيام القادمة ولكن نحن نعتبر أن مسألة إعادة فتح المطار من أهم المسائل بالنسبة إلى أفغانستان من أجل تحقيق أحد الالتزامات التي ذكرتها /طالبان/ في السابق وهي السماح بحرية الحركة.
وتابع: نعتقد أن حرية الحركة وحرية التنقل هي من أهم الأشياء التي من الممكن أن تثبت /طالبان/ من خلالها للمجتمع الدولي أن الوضع في أفغانستان مستقر، ونعتقد أن هذا مؤشر مهم بالنسبة لنا في دولة قطر ومهم أيضا بالنسبة لحلفائنا في كل الدول”.
