Qatar joins Nuclear Security Contact Group

Qatar has joined the Nuclear Security Contact Group (NSCG).

The Permanent Mission of Qatar to the International Organisations in Vienna has sent a note to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stating that Qatar has joined the NSCG and its commitment to the objectives set forth in the Statement of Principles of the Group as contained in document INCIRC/899, and requested that it be published as an official document and circulated to member-states.

The Nuclear Security Contact Group (NSCG) was established at the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit in Washington through the joint statement on Sustaining Action to Strengthen Global Nuclear Security.

The co-sponsors of the joint statement agreed to help address continuing and evolving nuclear security challenges, with the objectives of advancing implementation of nuclear security commitments and building a strengthened global nuclear security architecture.

أعلنت دولة قطر انضمامها لفريق الاتصال المعني بالأمن النووي، وقامت البعثة الدائمة لدولة قطر لدى المنظمات الدولية في فيينا بتوجيه مذكرة إلى الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية تفيد بانضمام دولة قطر إلى الفريق والتزامها بالأهداف الواردة في بيان مبادئ الصادر عن فريق الاتصال على النحو الوارد في الوثيقة INCIRC/899 وطلب نشرها كوثيقة من الوثائق الرسمية وتعميمها على الدول الأعضاء.

يذكر أن مجموعة من الدول الداعمة لمسألة حفظ الأمن النووي الدولي قد أسست الفريق في العام 2016 خلال أعمال قمة الأمن النووي التي عقدت في العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، ودعت الدول الأعضاء في بيانها المشترك إلى المساعدة في مواجهة التحديات المستمرة والمتطورة للأمن النووي مع تعزيز أهداف النهوض بتنفيذ التزامات الأمن النووي وبناء هيكل عالمي للأمن النووي معزز ومستدام وشامل بما في ذلك تحديد الاتجاهات الناشئة التي قد تتطلب المزيد من الاهتمام المركز في نشر فكر الأمن النووي.;
