MOFA Participates Virtually in World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Doha: The Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) participated Tuesday in a virtual symposium organized by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in cooperation with the United Nations Migration Mission in the State of Qatar, on the occasion of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
The symposium highlighted Qatar’s efforts to combat human trafficking, identified lessons learned and best practices, and presented potential challenges in this regard.
HE Director of the Department of Human Rights at MOFA Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud gave a presentation on the national mechanism in combating human trafficking, the strategy adopted by the State of Qatar to combat human trafficking and forced labor, and the state’s international obligations in this field, as well as the role of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.
The symposium was attended by HE Vice-chairman of the National Human Rights Committee Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari, Chief of Mission of United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Qatar Iman Ereiqat, HE Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar Narad Bharadwaj, HE Charge d’Affaires at US Embassy John Desrocher, and Head of ILO Project Office for the State of Qatar Max Tunon.

الدوحة: شاركت إدارة حقوق الإنسان بوزارة الخارجية، يوم الأمس في ندوة افتراضية نظمتها اللجنة الوطنية لمكافحة الإتجار بالبشر بالتعاون مع بعثة الأمم المتحدة للهجرة في دولة قطر، بمناسبة اليوم العالمي لمكافحة الإتجار بالبشر.
سلطت الندوة الضوء على جهود دولة قطر في مكافحة الإتجار بالبشر وتحديد الدروس المستفادة وأفضل الممارسات وعرض التحديات المحتملة في هذا الشأن وتحويلها إلى عوامل قوة.
وقدّم سعادة الدكتور تركي بن عبدالله آل محمود مدير إدارة حقوق الإنسان بوزارة الخارجية، عرضاً عن الآلية الوطنية في مكافحة الإتجار بالبشر، والاستراتيجية التي تعتمدها دولة قطر لمكافحة الإتجار بالبشر والعمل الجبري والالتزامات الدولية للدولة في هذا المجال .. فضلا عن دور اللجنة الوطنية لمكافحة الإتجار بالبشر والأهداف التي تعمل على تحقيقها.
وشارك في الندوة سعادة الدكتور محمد سيف الكواري نائب رئيس اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان ، والسيدة إيمان عريقات رئيسة بعثة الأمم المتحدة للهجرة في دولة قطر، وسعادة السيد ناراد ناس برادواج سفير جمهورية نيبال، وسعادة السيد جون ديسروشر القائم بأعمال السفارة الأمريكية ، والسيد ماكس تيونون رئيس مكتب منظمة العمل الدولية لدى الدولة.
