QRCS Continues Supporting Gaza’s Healthcare System

Gaza: Qatar Red Crescent Society’s (QRCS) mission in Gaza, in cooperation with Palestines Ministry of Health (MOH), continues to execute the Gaza Specialized Surgeries Support Project, which involves hiring medical experts to offer surgical and other medical services, with a total budget of $1.4 million (QR 5,103,000).
The overall objectives of the project are to back the health sector of Gaza, ensure the availability of high-quality medical and surgical services, and build the capacity of staff at health facilities of the blockade. The number of beneficiaries is estimated at 18,000 patients per year, in addition to the local medical professionals.
Executive Director of Relief and International Development Division at QRCS Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi said that “an executive agreement was signed with MOH as a beneficiary and partner. Our mission there worked together with MOH to nominate the consultant physicians to be hired under the project and identify their respective tasks. Some already contracted physicians under the previous health system support project were re-contracted, to preserve the merits and targets of the project”.
Then, the contracted experts gradually commenced their work at Gazas hospitals. They covered the following specialties: cardiothoracic surgery, urology, pulmonology, cardiology, anesthesia, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedics, and plastic surgery.
Over the course of the project, they performed 3,786 surgical interventions, offered 14,128 outpatient consultations, and treated 156 injured victims of the recent war on Gaza.

غزة: تواصل بعثة الهلال الأحمر القطري في قطاع غزة، بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية، تنفيذ مشروع دعم الجراحات التخصصية في قطاع غزة، والذي يتضمن استقدام الخبرات الطبية لإجراء عمليات جراحية تخصصية وتقديم سلسلة من الخدمات والأنشطة الأخرى، بتكلفة إجمالية قدرها 1.4 مليون دولار أمريكي (ما يعادل حوالي 5 ملايين و103 آلاف ريال).
ويهدف المشروع إلى دعم النظام الصحي بغزة، والمساهمة في تقديم خدمات طبية وجراحية ذات جودة عالية، وبناء قدرات الطواقم العاملة في المنشآت الصحية.
ويقدر عدد المستفيدين من أنشطة المشروع بحوالي 18 ألف مريض سنويا من أهالي القطاع، إلى جانب الطواقم الطبية المحلية.
وعن تفاصيل هذا المشروع، قال السيد فيصل محمد العمادي المدير التنفيذي لقطاع الإغاثة والتنمية الدولية بالهلال الأحمر القطري: “تم في البداية توقيع اتفاقية تنفيذية مع وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية كجهة مستفيدة وشريكة في المشروع، ثم عملت بعثتنا التمثيلية في غزة بالتنسيق مع الوزارة لإعداد قائمة الأطباء الاستشاريين المراد التعاقد معهم ضمن المشروع، وتحديد المهام التعاقدية لكل منهم، فيما تم تجديد التعاقد مع عدد ممن سبق التعاقد معهم ضمن مشروع تعزيز النظام الصحي السابق، وذلك حتى لا يفقد البرنامج قيمته والأهداف المرجوة منه”.
وأشار إلى أنه على مدار فترة المشروع، نجح الأطباء والاستشاريون المتعاقد معهم في إجراء إجمالي 3 آلاف و786 عملية وتدخلا جراحيا، وتقديم 14 ألفا و128 متابعة واستشارة للمراجعين، علاوة على علاج 156 حالة من مصابي العدوان الأخير على قطاع غزة.
