Developing Women’s Football was Priority in 2022 – FIFA Says

Zurich: The international Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) said that the year 2022 ended with a spectacular final at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as Argentina were crowned champions. Women’s football also enjoyed a banner year, with two major youth tournaments held the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.

The development of women’s football was also a priority throughout the year, in conjunction with the Vision 2020 2023 of the FIFA President, said the FIFA in a statement adding that April saw the publication of the first ever Guide to Club Licencing in women’s football, followed by the launch of the second edition of the FIFA Coach Mentorship Programme in May and the release of the second study into elite women’s football in October, to name just a few of the projects.

Various personalities from women’s football spoke to us about FIFA’s development programme, as well as special events and unique experiences from the year.

Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Coach Dona Rajab said “Of course there are still people who doubt that we can play football. But when a woman or a girl has an objective in life, they can achieve it and just forget about the people who don’t support others.” Former Canadian national player Diana Matheson said “When it comes to leadership personalities, people often think of extroverted, loud leaders, but we know that’s not true. One of the things that definitely came across to me over and over again during the programme (Women in Football Leadership) was authenticity. You need to be true to who you are and make sure you’re doing everything in an authentic way, because people notice if you’re not! You can lead in all sorts of ways as long as you’re being true to yourself.” For her part Coach of the country’s women’s national team Shilene Booysen said “The menstrual hygiene project is a pilot project that FIFA was kind enough to bring to South Sudan. I believe it is the first of its kind. And yes, it is hugely important for us because if you look at the poverty line in a country like South Sudan, 80-82 per cent of the people in that country are below that line and live on two dollars a day. This project is really eye-opening and gives us a platform to create more ambassadors for the programme, but also to raise awareness of the problem that female athletes and women in general face in this country.” Seychelles National Coach Angelina Chua said “Football is for everyone and gives everyone a chance to showcase their talent. It doesn’t matter where you come from, whether it’s a small country or a big one everyone should have an equal chance to succeed. I think it’s an ideal situation in that respect.” In the meantime National Coach of Costa Rica and Participant FIFA Coach Mentorship Programme Amelia Valverde Villalobos stated “It’s a historic journey for our country. We’ve never played two matches in two different countries in a FIFA window before. It enabled us to learn so much about the weather, the pitches, our game plan and everything we need to know for Australia & New Zealand. We’re so grateful to the Netherlands and Portugal for the opportunity.” For her part, women’s national team manager and head of women’s football development in Serbia Bojana Veselinovic said FIFA’s support is more than significant. The question is whether it would be possible to realise any of these projects without the help of football’s biggest institution. If FIFA continues to promote women’s football, then I’m sure the future will be bright. Girls in Serbia have already experienced this because they can now play football in smaller cities and villages, too. This is also impacting the senior game, because we now have a much larger base of players. And we’re just getting started.”

زيورخ: أكد الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم /فيفا/ أن عام 2022 شهد عدة مشاريع تطوير لكرة القدم للسيدات.

وقال /فيفا/ في بيانه إن مسك ختام سنة 2022 كان نهائيًا استثنائيًا في كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 وشهد تتويج الأرجنتين على العرش الكروي العالمي، لكن العام المنصرم كان مهمًا أيضًا على مستوى كرة قدم السيدات، إذ تم تنظيم بطولتين هما كأس العالم للسيدات FIFA تحت 17 سنة في الهند وتحت 20 سنة في كوستاريكا.

وأوضح البيان أن تطوير كرة قدم السيدات كان بمثابة أولوية طوال السنة، وذلك بما يتماشى مع رؤية 2020 – 2023 لرئيس الفيفا جياني إنفانتينو.. حيث شهد شهر أبريل نشر أول دليل لترخيص الأندية في كرة قدم السيدات، ثم تبعه إطلاق النسخة الثانية من برنامج التكوين للمدربين /فيفا/ كرة قدم السيدات في مايو، ونشر الدراسة الثانية عن مستوى النخبة في عالم كرة قدم السيدات في أكتوبر، وغيرها من المشاريع.

وتحدّثت عدة شخصيات من عالم كرة القدم للسيدات عن برنامج التطوير الذي وضعه /فيفا/ عام 2022، بالإضافة إلى تسليط الضوء على فعاليات خاصة وتجارب فريدة شهدها العام الماضي.. وقالت دانا رجب مساعدة مدرب المنتخب السعودي للسيدات:”ما من شكّ في أنه لا يزال هناك أشخاص يشككون بقدرتنا على لعب كرة القدم، لكن عندما تضع فتاة أو سيدة هدفًا في حياتها، سيكون بوسعها تحقيق ذلك، وتجاهل أولئك الذين لا يدعمون الآخرين”.

بدورها، قالت ديانا ماتيسون، لاعبة سابقة في المنتخب الكندي للسيدات:”عندما يتعلّق الأمر بالشخصيات القيادية، غالبًا ما تتداعى إلى الذهن شخصية منفتحة وصاخبة، ولكننا ندرك أن ذلك غير صحيح. أحد الأمور التي لاحظتها مرارًا وتكرارًا خلال برنامج القيادات النسائية في كرة القدم هو المصداقية.. يجب أن يكون المرء صادقًا مع نفسه ويحرص على القيام بكل شيء بطريقة أصيلة، لأن الناس يلاحظون إن كنت لا تقوم بذلك! يمكن للمرء أن يضطلع بالقيادة بكافة الأشكال طالما أنه صادق مع نفسه”.

أما أنجلينا تشوا، مدربة منتخب سيدات سيشيل فقد أكدت أن كرة القدم هي للجميع وتمنح الجميع فرصة لإظهار مواهبهم، لا يهم أصل الشخص وما إذا كان من دولة صغيرة أم كبيرة، يجب أن تُتاح أمام كل شخص فرص متساوية للنجاح.. “وأعتقد أنه ظرف مثالي في هذا المجال”.

من جانبها، قالت أميليا فالفردي فيلالوبوس، مدربة منتخب سيدات كوستاريكا :”إنها رحلة تاريخية لبلادنا، لم نلعب على الإطلاق مباراتين في دولتين خلال نافذة /فيفا/ للمباريات الدولية، وقد مكننا ذلك من تعلّم الكثير عن الطقس وأرضيات اللعب وخطة اللعب وكل ما نحن بحاجة لنعرفه من أجل نهائيات كأس العالم في أستراليا ونيوزيلندا العام المقبل.. إننا ممتنون لهولندا والبرتغال على هذه الفرصة”.

من جهتها، أكدت بويانا فيسيليتوفيتش، مدربة منتخب السيدات ورئيسة قسم تطوير كرة قدم السيدات في صربيا أن دعم /فيفا/ أكثر من مهم،.. وقالت:”يبقى السؤال ما إذا كان هناك مجال لتحقيق أي من هذه المشاريع دون دعم أكبر مؤسسة كروية، إذا استمر /فيفا/ بالترويج لكرة قدم السيدات، فأنا متأكدة من أن المستقبل سيكون باهراً، اختبرتْ الفتيات في صربيا هذا لأن بوسعهن الآن لعب كرة القدم في مدن وقرى صغيرة أيضًا.. ويؤثر هذا على كرة قدم فئة السيدات، لأن لدينا الآن قاعدة أوسع من اللاعبات، رغم أننا بدأنا لتوّنا”.
