PCR test costs 450 QR in private sector

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health announced yesterday that PCR tests at health centers of primary health care cooperation were temporarily suspended for people wishing to travel abroad, pointing them to the private health sector, which will provide all nasal swabs for the detection of COV-19, where the Covid-19 virus PCR testing service has been transferred to private health facilities to ease the pressure on the medical teams at the Primary Health Care Corporation’s health centres, enabling it to focus on providing services to people with Covid-19 and people eligible for the vaccine, this service will be resumed, according to a publication of the Primary Health Care Corporation posted on its official Twitter account, when the second wave is contained, and if the pressure on primary health care facilities is reduced.

In conjunction with this decision, Al-Sharq followed the implementation of the decision in a number of private medical facilities that are allowed to conduct PCR scans for the detection of the coronavirus “Covid-19” for those wishing to travel, as it was found that there was a slight discrepancy between prices ranging from 400 riyals to 500 QR, stressing that the cost of the swab did not vary since the private health facilities were allowed to conduct tests.

A number of medical directors and concerned were unanimous that the cost of the swab was approved by the relevant authorities, especially since the swabs are sent to Hamad Medical Laboratories for analysis, indicating that the examination must be conducted 72 hours before leaving the country, and that the result appears between 24 hours and 36 hours and sometimes in lesser time.

The doctors stressed that health facilities are working together with the government health sector to address this second wave pandemic, calling on members of the community to abide by precautionary measures and not to tolerate them, pointing out that the lax application of them through family gatherings and events has contributed to the increase in the number of infections recorded daily through the Ministry of Public Health.

Dr. Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab, Medical Director and Chief Surgeon of a private hospital, commented, “Our hospital has been providing corona testing service since the Ministry of Public Health approved a number of hospitals in the private sector to provide this service, so with the ministry’s recent decision yesterday to point travellers to conduct a corona test in hospitals and private medical complexes, we have doubled our capacity and set a price of 450 riyals for a single PCR test, knowing that pricing was agreed upon with the Ministry of Public Health.”

Dr. Abdul Azim Abdul Wahab added, “The hospital also and in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers suspended the work of clinics except emergency cases, and follow-up patients after surgery, but we were looking forward to the Ministry of Public Health clarifying the decision of the Council of Ministers through a detailed circular clarifying the mechanism of action, especially since the word emergency cases may vary from doctor to doctor, especially since the emergency departments of some private hospitals are witnessing overcrowding.”

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة أمس إيقاف إجراء مسحات الـ (PCR) للكشف عن فيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19” في المراكز الصحية التابعة لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية مؤقتا للأشخاص الراغبين في السفر إلى الخارج، موجهة إياهم للقطاع الصحي الخاص الذي سيقوم بتوفير جميع مسحات الأنف للكشف عن فيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19″، حيث تم اتخاذ إجراء نقل خدمة مسحات الأنف لفيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19” للراغبين في السفر إلى المرافق الصحية الخاصة بهدف تخفيف الضغط على الفرق الطبية في المراكز الصحية التابعة لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، وتمكينها من التركيز على تقديم الخدمات للأشخاص المصابين بفيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19” والأشخاص المستحقين للقاح المضاد للفيروس، حيث سيتم استئناف هذه الخدمة – بناء على ما أورده منشور لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية تم نشره على موقعها الرسمي على تويتر- عند احتواء الموجة الثانية، وفي حال خف الضغط على مرافق الرعاية الصحية الأولية.

وتزامنا مع هذا القرار تابعت الشرق تنفيذ القرار في عدد من المرافق الطبية الخاصة المسموح لها بإجراء مسحات الـ (PCR) للكشف عن فيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19” للراغبين في السفر، حيث اتضح أن هناك تفاوتاً طفيفاً بين الأسعار يتراوح ما بين 400 ريال إلى 500 ريال قطري، مؤكدين أنَّ تكلفة المسحة لم تختلف منذ أن تم السماح للمرافق الصحية الخاصة بإجراء الفحوصات لديها.

وأجمع عدد من المديرين الطبيين والمعنيين بأنَّ تكلفة المسحة تمت الموافقة عليها من قبل الجهات المعنية، سيما وأنَّ المسحات تُرسل لمختبرات حمد الطبية لتحليلها، مشيرين إلى أنَّ الفحص يجب أن يُجرى قبل 72 ساعة من مغادرة الدولة، كما أنَّ النتيجة تظهر ما بين 24 ساعة إلى 36 ساعة وفي بعض الأحيان بوقت أقل.

وشدد الأطباء على أنَّ المرافق الصحية تعمل جنبا إلى جنب مع القطاع الصحي الحكومي، للتصدي لهذه الجائحة التي تمر بموجة ثانية، داعين أفراد المجتمع إلى التقيد بالإجراءات الاحترازية وعدم التهاون بها، لافتين إلى أنَّ التهاون في تطبيقها من خلال التجمعات والمناسبات العائلية، أسهم في زيادة أعداد الإصابات التي تسجل يوميا من خلال وزارة الصحة العامة.

علق الدكتور عبدالعظيم عبدالوهاب – المدير الطبي وكبير جراحي مستشفى خاص-، قائلا “إنَّ مستشفانا يقدم خدمة فحص كورونا منذ أن اعتمدت وزارة الصحة العامة عددا من المستشفيات في القطاع الخاص لتقديم هذه الخدمة، لذا ومع قرار وزارة الصحة العامة الأخير الذي صدر أمس في توجيه المسافرين لإجراء فحص كورونا للمستشفيات والمجمعات الطبية الخاصة، فنحن ضاعفنا طاقتنا الاستيعابية، وخصصنا مبلغ 450 ريالا لفحص الـ(PCR) الواحد، مع العلم أنَّ التسعيرة هي أمر تمت الموافقة عليه من قبل وزارة الصحة العامة”.

وأضاف الدكتور عبدالعظيم عبدالوهاب قائلا “إنَّ المستشفى أيضا وتنفيذا لقرار مجلس الوزراء قام بتعليق عمل العيادات باستثناء الحالات الطارئة، ومتابعة مرضى العمليات ما بعد الجراحة، إلا أننا كنا نتطلع أن تقوم وزارة الصحة العامة بتوضيح قرار مجلس الوزراء من خلال تعميم تفصيلي يوضح آلية العمل، سيما وأن كلمة حالات طارئة قد تختلف من طبيب لآخر، خاصة أن أقسام الطوارئ لبعض المستشفيات الخاصة باتت تشهد زحاما”.
