Dr. Al-Muslimani: vaccinating 80% is the beginning of pandemic’s end

Doha: Dr. Yousef Al-Muslimani, Medical Director of Hamad General Hospital, stressed that vaccination from 70 to 80% of the population means the beginning of the end of the coronavirus (Covid-19), stressing the need to follow precautionary measures until this percentage is reached even for those who received the two doses of the vaccine, pointing out that those who received the vaccination may be protected but may transmit the virus.

“We must use all the weapons, we have the first weapon, which is masks, social spacing, continuous sterilization, and the second weapon, which is the vaccine ” this does not mean that the second weapon (vaccine) will compensate 100% for the first weapon, and we must use all the weapons we have to prevent the spread of the epidemic” dr. Al-Muslimani said in an interview with Al-Rayyan TV.

He added: In order to make sure that the spread of the epidemic declines, we must reach the vaccination of 70 or 80% of the population, and until we reach this percentage, everyone must abide to wearing masks and social spacing and staying away from gatherings in closed areas and washing hands even for those who have received the vaccination, because those who have received the vaccination may protect themselves but can not protect others.

He stressed that everyone must abide, and those who are allowed to sit outside (5 people), they must take precautionary measures of masks and spacing and allowing 5 people to gather does not mean that the virus does not transmit between them because it can be transmitted.

He added: The most important thing is to commit to precautions until 70 or 80% of the community is vaccinated and this is the beginning of the end of the epidemic.

On whether the five people were all vaccinated and got two doses of the vaccine and two weeks after the second dose have passed, should they take precautionary measures, Dr. Al-Muslimani said: So far no decision has been taken in Qatar, and there are recommendations from some scientific councils but the strategic committee has not taken these recommendations. He added: For example, four young people who have been vaccinated may allow a fifth person who has not received the vaccine to mingle with them without precautionary measures because they are vaccinated, and this is a mistake and the instructions must be strictly adhered to in order to reach the required protection, and if we do not comply, the virus will remain among us.

He continued: The date of vaccination within the health centers comes by phone appointment, if the person meets the priority criteria he/she will get an appointment, and the second way is to register on the internet to request an appointment to take the dose of the vaccine.

الدوحة: أكد الدكتور يوسف المسلماني المدير الطبي لمستشفى حمد العام أن تطعيم من 70 إلى80% من السكان يعني بداية النهاية لفيروس كورونا (كوفيد -19)، مشددا على ضرورة الاتباع الإجراءات الاحترازية حتى الوصول لهذه النسبة وحتى من حصلوا على جرعتي اللقاح، ولافتا إلى أن من حصلوا على التطعيم قد يكونوا محميين ولكنهم قد ينقلون الفيروس .

وقال الدكتور المسلماني – في مقابلة مع قناة الريان – يجب أن نستخدم كل الأسلحة، لدينا السلاح الأول وهو الكمامة والتباعد الاجتماعي والتعقيم المستمر، والسلاح الثاني وهو اللقاح، وأضاف هذا لا يعني أن يغني السلاح الثاني (اللقاح) بنسبة 100 % عن السلاح الأول، ويجب أن نستخدم كل الأسلحة لدينا لمنع انتشار الوباء .

وأضاف: لكي نتأكد الحد من انتشار الوباء يجب أن نصل إلى تطعيم نسبة  70 أو 80% من السكان، وإلى أن نصل إلى هذه النسبة يجب على الجميع الالتزام بالكمامة والتباعد الاجتماعي والابتعاد عن الاجتماع بالمناطق المغلقة وغسيل اليدين حتى لمن حصلوا على التطعيم، لأن من حصل على التطعيم قد يحمي نفسه ولكنه لا يستطيع حماية غيره .

وأكد أن الكل يجب يلتزم، ومن هم مسموح لهم بالجلوس في الخارج (5 أشخاص)، فهؤلاء يجب أن يقوموا بالإجراءات الاحترازية من الكمامة والتباعد وليس معنى السماح بـ 5 أشخاص أن الفيروس لا ينتقل بينهم لأنه من الممكن أن ينتقل .

وأضاف : أهم شيء الالتزام بالاحترازات إلى أن يتم تطعيم 70 أو 80% من المجتمع وهذا هو بداية النهاية للوباء .

وحول إذا ما كان الخمسة أشخاص كلهم مطعمون وحصلوا على جرعتي اللقاح ومر عليهم أسبوعان بعد الجرعة الثانية هل يجب أن يتخذوا الإجراءات الاحترازية، قال الدكتور المسلماني: إلى الآن لم يتخذ قرار في قطر، وهناك توصيات من بعض المجالس العلمية لكن اللجنة الاستراتيجية لم تأخذ بهذه التوصيات.. وأضاف: مثلا قد يرى أربعة من الشباب حصلوا على التطعيم أن يدخلوا بينهم خامساً بدون إجراءات احترازية بسبب أنهم مطعمون، وهذا خطأ ويجب الالتزام حرفيا بالتعليمات لتصير الحماية المطلوبة، وإذا لم نلتزم سيظل الفيروس بيننا.

وتابع: موعد التطعيم داخل المراكز الصحية يأتي عبر الاتصال الهاتفي عن طريق المواعيد فإذا الشخص تنطبق عليه معايير الأولوية سيحصل على موعد، والطريقة الثانية هي التسجيل على صفحة الإنترنت لطلب موعد لأخذ جرعة اللقاح .
