QU Career Fair offers 300 opportunities of employment, training and sponsorship

Doha: Qatar University Career Fair, which is held for the 13th year in a row, was opened yesterday at Qatar University with the participation of about 70 participants from different sectors of the country such as energy, industry, finance and business, as well as education, health, sports and services.

The four-day fair is one of the most important events offered by the QU’s Career Development Center to provide students and graduates with the opportunity to learn about the career opportunities available in the Qatari labor market through the participating bodies and to offer promising career opportunities such as employment, field training and academic sponsorship.

The fair offers students about 300 opportunities covering employment, training and sponsorship, as well as awareness activities about the labor market, the required majors and the skills required in this context.

President of Qatar University Dr Hassan Al Derham said after opening the fair that this event is an important platform and a window to introduce students to the nature of the skills required by the labor market, and the opportunities available to them in the areas of training and sponsorship, and others.

He added that the fair is also an important occasion for Qatar University to learn about the opinions of the participating parties from ministries, companies and institutions about the QU’s programs and their suitability for the labor market, which allows the University to develop and expand its programs and training facilities according to this feedback.

Assistant Vice-President for Student Academic Success and Development Dr Haya Nasser Al Attiyah said that Qatar University represented by the University’s Career Development Center is keen to organize various professional events throughout the yea, pointing out that the Career Fair is one of the most important of these events, which hosts about 70 employer and training bodies from various sectors in the country.

She explained that the Career Fair is aimed at three main categories: high school students, university students and graduates.

Al Attiyah said that hosting a number of secondary schools to visit the fair has been coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. She also noted that QU students can learn about the opportunities offered by academic sponsorship and summer training, which provides them with opportunities to develop their various skills and gain in-depth knowledge in their field of study, as well as employment opportunities for those who are about to graduate or already graduated.

Director of Career Development Center Maha Al Marri said that this year’s fair provides about 300 opportunities for Qatari students and graduates, including employment, training and sponsorship (sponsored scholarships), making it an important window on the labor market.

انطلقت اليوم بجامعة قطر فعاليات (معرض جامعة قطر المهني) الذي ينظم للسنة الثالثة عشرة على التوالي، بمشاركة نحو 70 جهة من مختلف قطاعات العمل بالدولة كقطاع الطاقة والصناعة وقطاع المال والأعمال، بالإضافة إلى التعليم والصحة والرياضة والخدمات.

ويعد المعرض الذي يستمر أربعة أيام أحد أبرز الفعاليات التي يقدمها مركز التطوير المهني بالجامعة بهدف إتاحة الفرصة للطلبة والخريجين للتعرف على الفرص المهنية التي يقدمها سوق العمل القطري من خلال الجهات المشاركة وتقديم فرص مهنية واعدة لهم كالتوظيف والتدريب الميداني والرعاية الأكاديمية.

ويوفر المعرض للطلبة في نسخته الحالية نحو 300 فرصة تشمل مجالات التوظيف والتدريب والرعاية الأكاديمية، إلى جانب أنشطة التوعية حول سوق العمل والتخصصات المطلوبة والمهارات اللازمة في هذا السياق.

وقال سعادة الدكتور حسن الدرهم رئيس جامعة قطر في تصريح صحفي عقب افتتاحه المعرض “هذه الفعالية عبارة عن منصة ونافذة مهمة لتعريف الطلاب بطبيعة المهارات التي يتطلبها سوق العمل، والفرص المتاحة أمامهم في مجالات التدريب والرعاية الأكاديمية، وغيرها”.

وأضاف أن المعرض مناسبة مهمة لجامعة قطر أيضا للتعرف على آراء الجهات المشاركة من وزارات وشركات ومؤسسات حول برامج الجامعة، ومدى ملاءمتها لسوق العمل، وهو ما يتيح للجامعة تطوير وتوسيع برامجها ومرافقها التدريبية وفقا لهذه التغذية الراجعة.

بدورها قالت الدكتورة هيا ناصر العطية مساعد نائب رئيس الجامعة للنجاح الطلابي والتطوير، إن جامعة قطر متمثلة بمركز التطوير المهني تحرص على تنظيم الفعاليات المهنية المختلفة طوال العام.. مشيرة إلى أن المعرض المهني من أهم هذه الفعاليات التي تحتضن نحو 70جهة عمل وتدريب من مختلف القطاعات بالدولة.

وأوضحت أن المعرض المهني يستهدف ثلاث فئات رئيسية وهي: طلبة الثانوية العامة وطلبة الجامعة والخريجون.. وقالت “تم التنسيق مع وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي لاستضافة عدد من المدارس الثانوية لزيارة المعرض، وذلك بهدف التعرف على مجالات العمل الحالية والمستقبلية والتي بدورها تساهم في التخطيط المهني السليم والمبكر للطالب وبالتالي اختيار المهنة المناسبة لاستعداداته وقدراته وميوله”.

كما أشارت إلى أن طلبة الجامعة يمكنهم التعرف على الفرص المتاحة من رعاية أكاديمية وتدريب صيفي يتيح لهم فرص تطوير مهاراتهم المختلفة واكسابهم معرفة متعمقة في مجال تخصصهم الدراسي، إلى جانب فرص العمل المتاحة لمن هم على وشك التخرج أو للخريجين”.

وحثت الدكتورة هيا العطية جميع الطلبة على حضور المعرض المهني والاستفادة من الفرص المتاحة والتعرف على أصحاب العمل والمسؤولين عن هذه الجهات وطرح أسئلتهم واستفساراتهم، والاستفادة من عيادة السيرة الذاتية الموجودة في المعرض والتي تساعد الطلبة على كتابة سيرتهم بصورة سليمة.

من جانبها، قالت مها المري مديرة مركز التطوير المهني بجامعة قطر، إن معرض هذا العام يوفر نحو 300 فرصة أمام الطلبة والخريجين القطريين تشمل توظيف وتدريب ورعاية أكاديمية ( منح دراسية ترعاها الجهات) مما يجعل منه نافذة مهمة على سوق العمل.

وأكدت حرص المركز على تعزيز التواصل مع مختلف الجهات المشاركة في المعرض لاستكشاف مدى نجاحه في توفير فرص حقيقية أمام الطلبة والخريجين.. وقالت “نسعى جاهدين ووفق آلية معينة لمتابعة مدى استفادة الطلبة وخريجي الجامعة من الفرص التي تعرضها الجهات المشاركة، ومعرفة عدد المستفيدين، باعتبار ذلك معيارا مهما لنجاح المعرض”.
