Doha: Dr. Soha Al-Bayat – Head of the Immunization Department in the Health Protection and Communicable Disease Control Department at the Ministry of Public Health – confirmed that viruses reach their peak during the winter period, so weather fluctuations play a role, but the main reason for the high infections curve of the emerging coronavirus “Covid-19” is due to Some segments of society who were negligent in adhering to the precautionary measures, as an increase in family gatherings and social events such as weddings was observed, pointing out that laxity in precautionary measures contributes to the increase in the number of new infections with the new Coronavirus “Covid-19”.

Dr. Al-Bayat said in exclusive statements to Al-Sharq, “The negligence of some in the precautionary measures is due to the availability of the new anti-coronavirus vaccine, as the availability of the vaccine does not mean in any way complacency in the precautionary measures for those who received the vaccine, so how is it for those who did not receive it?

The vaccine is not a justification for family gatherings, and social events that have become crowded with people, as the vaccine produces immunity up to 95% and requires a period until it gives effective results ranging from one to two weeks after obtaining the second dose, so if the person who received the vaccine was exposed to an infected person before it takes effect there is a possibility of infection, But after the two-week period has passed, the infection rate may decrease, so the Ministry of Public Health always stresses adherence to the precautionary measures even in the event of getting the vaccine, because the person who received the vaccine does not know whether he is among the 95% or of the 5%, because the response of people with the vaccine varies from person to person, this is why it is important to protect ourselves and others by adhering to precautionary measures such as using protective face masks, avoiding crowded places, as well as taking care of a safe distance, with washing hands with soap and water or using alcoholic sterilizers, in order for community immunity to be achieved, between 75% -80% of the community must be vaccinated so that the strength of the virus in transmitting infection decreases, so that most of it has immunity and antibodies, so the infection is less, and then the precautionary measures will be reduced, based on an official decision by the authorities Concerned”.

Dr. Al-Bayat emphasized that the precautionary measures and their adherence to them contributed to reducing the seasonal influenza infections due to the use of protective face masks, and thanks to the social distancing, and it also reduced asthma crises among asthmatics due to the use of face masks that have a role in avoiding dust, so these measures had a positive effect for protecting people from viruses such as seasonal influenza, and not only from the emerging coronavirus “Covid-19”, as healthy habits reduce seasonal flu and asthma attacks.

Dr. Soha Al-Bayat explained the number of cases, “The new cases of infection with the Coronavirus have increased, but their rise is not sharply higher than in some countries, but we are witnessing an increase in the number of new cases of Coronavirus, in addition to the increase in the number of infected people who need to be hospitalized and be in care units.” The focus reached 85%, but we are keen to raise awareness in the community to adhere to the precautionary measures so that we do not reach a second wave of the virus outbreak, and what we want is to control the number of cases, so reclining at this stage is on the awareness of individuals in society, so complacency may lead to a second wave of the epidemic. “

On the new variant strain of the emerging coronavirus “Covid-19”, Dr. Al-Bayat explained in this context, saying, “The new strain of the virus has not reached the country, but I want to clarify something which is that these strains are the virus itself and not more dangerous than the current virus, but it spreads faster.” The infection is faster, and I would like to reassure the community that both “Pfizer – BioNTech” and “Moderna”, which the Ministry of Public Health contracted with regarding the emerging coronavirus “Covid-19” vaccine, have conducted studies on the effectiveness of their vaccines on the changing strain of the virus and have proven their effectiveness over the new strain because the change is not a fundamental change, but a slight change. “

Dr. Al-Bayat indicated that the role of the seasonal influenza vaccine is that when a person is infected with influenza, immunity weakens, and if the immunity decreases, then the person’s body resistance to the Coronavirus or any virus decreases, and with this status the immunity is low and if the person is infected with Covid-19, the situation may double, but in the event, the person gets the flu vaccine, here the person has strong immunity, so he can fight the Coronavirus, and at the same time if the person is infected, the complications will be less.

Dr. Al-Bayat called on members of the community to have more patience to overcome this exceptional stage that passes over the whole world and not on the State of Qatar, to appeal to young age groups to adhere to the precautionary measures because they may be a cause of transmitting the infection to an elderly person, a pregnant woman, or a child. The important thing is to adhere to precautionary measures, and to avoid gatherings and family visits of large numbers so that they are not a source of infection, as controlling the outbreak of the epidemic requires the efforts of all groups of society, to protect the person himself, and to protect his loved ones and relatives.

وقالت الدكتورة البيات في تصريحات خاصة لـ الشرق “إن تهاون البعض في الإجراءات الاحترازية يعود إلى توفر اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد، حيث إن توافر اللقاح لا يعني بأي حال من الأحوال التهاون في الإجراءات الاحترازية لمن حصل على اللقاح فكيف لمن لم يحصل عليه، لذا توفر اللقاح ليس مبررا للتجمعات العائلية، والمناسبات الاجتماعية التي باتت مكتظة بالأشخاص، فاللقاح ينتج مناعة تصل إلى 95% ويتطلب فترة حتى يعطي نتائج فاعلية تتراوح بين أسبوع إلى أسبوعين بعد الحصول على الجرعة الثانية، فلو تعرض الشخص الحاصل على اللقاح لشخص مصاب قبل أن يأخذ مفعوله هناك احتمال للعدوى، ولكن بعد انقضاء الفترة الأسبوعين من المحتمل أن تقل نسبة العدوى، لذا تشدد وزارة الصحة العامة دوما على التقيد بالإجراءات الاحترازية حتى في حال الحصول على اللقاح، لأن الذي حصل على اللقاح لا يعلم هل هو من بين الـ95% أو من الـ5%، لأن تجاوب الأشخاص مع اللقاح يختلف من شخص إلى شخص آخر، لهذا من المهم حماية أنفسنا وحماية الآخرين من خلال الالتزام بالإجراءات الاحترازية كاستخدام أقنعة الوجه الواقية، وتجنب الأماكن المزدحمة، إلى جانب الحرص على المسافة الآمنة، مع غسل اليدين بالماء والصابون أو استخدام المعقمات الكحولية، وحتى تتحقق مناعة مجتمعية لابد من تلقيح ما بين 75%-80% من المجتمع حتى تقل قوة الفيروس في نقل العدوى، ليكون الأغلب لديه مناعة وأجسام مضادة، فجائرة العدوى تقل، وبعد ذلك سيتم تخفيف الإجراءات الاحترازية، وذلك بناء على قرار رسمي من قبل الجهات المعنية”.

وأكدت الدكتورة البيات أن الإجراءات الاحترازية والتقيد بها أسهم في خفض حالات العدوى بالإنفلونزا الموسمية بسبب استخدام أقنعة الوجه الواقية، وبفضل التباعد الجسدي، كما أنها خفضت أزمات الربو لدى المصابين بالربو بسبب استخدام أقنعة الوجه التي لها دور في تجنب الغبار، لذا هذه الإجراءات كان لها تأثير إيجابي على حماية الأشخاص من الفيروسات كالإنفلونزا الموسمية، وليس فقط من فيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19″، فالعادات الصحية قللت الانفلونزا الموسمية وأزمات الربو.

وحول عدد الحالات، أوضحت الدكتورة سهى البيات قائلة “إنَّ حالات الإصابة بفيروس كورونا المستجد ارتفعت إلا أن ارتفاعها ليس ارتفاعا حادا كبعض الدول، ولكننا بتنا نشهد ارتفاعا في عدد حالات الإصابة بفيروس كورونا المستجد إلى جانب ارتفاع نسبة الأشخاص المصابين الذي بحاجة للدخول إلى المستشفيات ووحدات العناية المركزة بلغ 85%، ولكن نحن نحرص على رفع الوعي لدى المجتمع للتقيد بالإجراءات الاحترازية حتى لا نصل إلى موجة ثانية من تفشي الفيروس، ونحن ما نريده هو السيطرة على عدد الحالات، فالاتكاءة في هذه المرحلة هو على مدى وعي الأفراد في المجتمع فالتهاون قد يؤدي إلى موجة ثانية من الوباء”.

وحول السلالة المتغيرة الجديدة لفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19″، أوضحت الدكتورة البيات في هذا السياق قائلة “إن السلالة الجديدة للفيروس لم تصل إلى الدولة، ولكن أريد أن أوضح أمرا وهو أن هذه السلالات هي الفيروس نفسه وليس أخطر من الفيروس الحالي لكنها أسرع انتشارا وأسرع في العدوى، وأطمئن المجتمع أن كلا من شركتي “فايزر – بايونتيك” و”موديرنا” اللتين تعاقدت معهما وزارة الصحة العامة بشأن اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19″، قد أجرتا دراسات على مدى فاعلية لقاحيهما على السلالة المتغيرة للفيروس وقد أثبتتا فاعليتهما على السلالة الجديدة، لأن التغير ليس تغيرا جوهريا بل تغيرا طفيفاً”.

وأشارت الدكتورة البيات إلى أن دور لقاح الإنفلونزا الموسمية، هو أن الشخص عندما يصاب بالإنفلونزا المناعة تضعف، فإذا انخفضت المناعة فبالتالي مقاومة جسم الشخص لفيروس كورونا أو أي فيروس تنخفض، وبهذه الحالة المناعة منخفضة وإذا انعدى الشخص بالكوفيد ممكن تتضاعف الحالة، ولكن في حال حصل الشخص على لقاح الانفلونزا فهنا تتشكل لدى الشحص مناعة قوية فبالتالي يستطيع محاربة فيروس كورونا، وفي نفس الوقت لو أصيب الشخص ستكون المضاعفات أقل.

ودعت الدكتورة البيات أفراد المجتمع إلى مزيد من الصبر لتجاوز هذه المرحلة الاستثنائية التي تمر على العالم أجمع وليس على دولة قطر، مناشدة الفئات العمرية من الشباب ضرورة التقيد بالإجراءات الاحترازية لأنهم قد يكونون سببا في نقل العدوى إلى كبير سن أو سيدة حامل، أو طفل لذا من المهم التقيد بالإجراءات الاحترازية، وتجنب التجمعات والزيارات العائلية ذات الأعداد الكبيرة حتى لا يكونوا مصدرا للعدوى، فالسيطرة على تفشي الوباء تتطلب جهود كافة فئات المجتمع، لحماية الشخص نفسه، ولحماية أحبائه وأقربائه.
