Will the recent increase in cases lead to a second wave of Coronavirus in Qatar?

Doha: Dr. Muna Al-Maslamani, Medical Director of the Communicable Diseases Center of the Hamad Medical Corporation, confirmed that the State of Qatar is currently witnessing an increase in the number of Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections, noting that there are many countries in the world currently going through a second and third wave of the virus, which are considered better than the first waves of the virus that occurred during the past year.

“This increase indicates a possible second wave, and the coming days and weeks will show more data that give a clearer view of this matter”. Dr. Al-Maslamani said in statements to Qatar Radio yesterday, Sunday.

She added: The important and worrying increase is the increase in the number of people admitted to hospital and intensive care by 85% from mid-December of last year. The medical director of the CDC stressed that getting the Coronavirus vaccine does not mean giving up the precautionary measures against the virus, but rather that everyone who gets the vaccine must continue to adhere to the preventive measures even if he receives the two doses of the vaccine until the announcement is made by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the WHO on the ending of the pandemic.

She also stressed the need to adhere to precautionary measures in order to limit the second wave before it exacerbates, noting the need to wear the mask on the nose and mouth, fixed on the face, maintain social distancing, avoid gatherings, wash hands constantly, and follow the preventive measures that everyone has become aware of.

الدوحة: أكدت  الدكتورة منى المسلماني المدير الطبي لمركز الأمراض الانتقالية التابع لمؤسسة حمد الطبية أن دولة قطر تشهد حالياً زيادة في أعداد الإصابات بفيروس كورونا (كوفيد – 19)، مشيرة إلى أن هناك العديد من دول العالم تمر حالياً بالموجة الثانية والثالثة للفيروس والتي تعتبر أفضل من الموجات الأولى للفيروس التي حدثت خلال العام الماضي.

وقالت المسلماني – في تصريحات لإذاعة قطر يوم الأحد – هذه الزيادة تؤشر لموجة ثانية محتملة، والأيام والأسابيع القادمة ستظهر المزيد من البيانات التي تعطي رؤية أوضح لهذا الأمر .

وأضافت: الزيادة الهامة المقلقة هو زيادة نسبة عدد الأشخاص الذين إدخالهم للمستشفى والعناية المركزة بنسبة 85% من منتصف ديسمبر من العام الماضي .

وشددت المدير الطبي لمركز الأمراض على الانتقالية على أن الحصول على لقاح كورونا لا يعني التخلي عن الإجراءات الاحترازية ضد الفيروس بل إنه يجب على كل من حصل على اللقاح الاستمرار بالالتزام بالإجراءات الوقائية حتى في حال تلقيه جرعتي اللقاح إلى أن يتم الإعلان من مركز السيطرة والتحكم الأمريكي ومنظمة الصحة العالمية على انتفاء الجائحة.

كما شددت على ضرورة الالتزام بالإجراءات الاحترازية من أجل حصر الموجة الثانية قبل تفاقمها، مشيرة إلى ضرورة ارتداء الكمامة على الأنف والفم وأن تكون محكمة على الوجه والمحافظة على التباعد الاجتماعي وتجنب التجمعات وغسل اليدين باستمرار واتباع الإجراءات الوقائية التي أصبح الجميع على دراية بها .
