PHCC begins vaccinating medical and administrative staff

Doha: The Primary Health Care Corporation has begun vaccinating the corporation’s medical and administrative staff with a vaccine against the emerging coronavirus “Covid-19”, as they are frontline workers facing the epidemic.

In this context, Dr. Khalid Al-Awad, Director of the Health Protection Department at the Primary Health Care Corporation, said, “Qatar is among the first countries that are keen to provide the best types of vaccines approved globally, which will be a decisive tool in controlling this pandemic and gradually returning life to normalcy.”

“The Infection Control Team in the Health Protection Department at the Primary Health Care Corporation took the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine Pfizer-and BioNTech out of concern for preventing infection ”, in support of the State and PHCC policies based on prevention as a basic strategy for combating communicable diseases, and emphasizing the importance of the vaccine in providing the necessary protection to fight the virus, and preventing the spread of infection among health care providers and the Qatari community in general.” Dr. Al-Awad, added in a statement issued by the Primary Health Care Corporation.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020, PHCC teams have succeeded in vaccinating a large number of the priority target group in the designated health centers of the Primary Health Care Corporation, which are Al-Wajba, Leabaib, Ruwais, Umm Salal, Rawdat Al-Khail, Al-Thumama, Qatar University, Al Waab, Al Khor and Muaither. This initial phase of the vaccination program includes people aged 65 years and older, people with acute chronic diseases, and primary health care professionals who work in close contact with Covid-19 patients. It also includes essential personnel and frontline workers in key ministries and government agencies.

Unprecedented cooperative efforts are being made to vaccinate most of the country’s population in an effort to control the epidemic and allow a gradual return to normal life. It has been proven that the vaccine is safe after the follow-up process that was conducted over the past few days, and this is very reassuring and is consistent with the clinical trials that led to its use.

The PHCC team will contact the eligible persons to receive the vaccine via phone and SMS to invite them to come to one of the ten designated health centers at a specified appointment.

الدوحة: قامت مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية ببدء تطعيم العاملين في المؤسسة من كوادر طبية وإدارية بلقاح مضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19″، باعتبارهم العاملين في الصفوف الأولى في مواجهة الوباء. وفي هذا السياق قال الدكتور خالد العوض، مدير إدارة حمايه الصحة في مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، “إن قطر من بين أوائل الدول التي حرصت على توفير أفضل أنواع اللقاحات المعتمدة عالميا والتي ستكون أداة حاسمة في السيطرة على هذه الجائحة والعودة التدريجية للحياة الطبيعية.”

و أضاف د. العوض في بيان صادر عن مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية قائلا “إنه من منطلق الحرص على الوقاية من العدوى، قام فريق مكافحة العدوى بقسم حماية الصحة بمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الاولية بأخذ الجرعة الاولى من لقاح كوفيد-19 “فايزر-وبايونتيك”، وذلك تعزيزا لسياسات الدولة ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الاولية القائمة على الوقاية كإستراتيجية أساسية لمكافحة الامراض الانتقالية، والتأكيد على أهمية اللقاح فى توفيرالحماية اللازمة لمقاومة الفيروس، ومنع انتشار العدوى بين مقدمي الرعاية الصحية والمجتمع القطري بشكل عام.”

ومنذ بدء حملة التطعيم يوم الأربعاء الموافق 23 ديسمبر2020، نجحت فرق مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية في تلقيح عدد كبير من الفئة المستهدفة ذات الأولوية في المراكز الصحية المخصصة التابعة لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، وهي الوجبة، لعبيب، الرويس، أم صلال، روضة الخيل، الثمامة، جامعة قطر، الوعب، الخور ومعيذر، وتشمل هذه المرحلة الأولية من برنامج التطعيم الأشخاص الذين تبلغ أعمارهم 65 عامًا فما فوق، والذين يعانون من أمراض مزمنة حادة، وأخصائيي الرعاية الصحية الرئيسيين الذين يعملون على اتصال وثيق مع مرضى فيروس كوفيد-19. وتشمل أيضًا الموظفين الأساسيين والعاملين في الخطوط الأمامية في الوزارات والهيئات الحكومية الرئيسية.

ويتم بذل جهود تعاونية غير مسبوقة لتطعيم معظم سكان الدولة في محاولة للسيطرة على الوباء والسماح بالعودة التدريجية إلى الحياة الطبيعية. ولقد ثبت أن اللقاح آمن بعد عملية المتابعة والمراقبة التي أجريت على مدار الأيام القليلة الماضية وهذا مطمئن للغاية ويتوافق مع التجارب السريرية التي أدت إلى السماح باستخدامه.

وسيقوم فريق مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية بالاتصال بالأشخاص المؤهلين للحصول على اللقاح عبر الهاتف والرسائل النصية القصيرة لدعوتهم للحضور إلى أحد المراكز الصحية العشرة المخصصة في موعد محدد.
