Cancer patients will not receive the anti-coronavirus vaccine: HMC

Doha: Dr. Muna Al-Maslamani – Medical Director of the Communicable Diseases Center of the Hamad Medical Corporation – revealed that the National Vaccination Committee in the State of Qatar has made a decision to not give the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine, developed by Pfizer-and BioNTech, to Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, especially since chemotherapy contributes to lowering a person’s immunity, and therefore if the vaccine is given, it will not play its role in the formation of antibodies due to the treatment, and for this reason, cancer patients were not given the vaccine.

“The National Vaccination Committee has decided not to give the new Coronavirus vaccine (Covid-19) to those with a history of allergic reactions, such as facial swelling and shortness of breath, this category will not get the vaccine, because there is insufficient scientific evidence to show the safety of the vaccine for this group, as well as those with drug allergies or allergies to certain medications,” dr. Al-Maslamani said.

 Dr. Al-Maslamani indicated in a seminar organized by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies on “Zoom” app, that there is nothing in it that prevents it from being given to pregnant or breastfeeding women, except the lack of adequate studies and information on the extent of the vaccine’s effect on pregnant women, because they were not among the volunteers, as were children who are less than 16 years of age.
Dr. Al-Maslamani added, “The National Vaccination Committee decided not to administer the emerging vaccine against the Coronavirus.

Dr. Al-Maslamani pointed out that the new anti-Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine is one of the tools to confront this virus, and to return life to normal, in addition to adhering to the precautionary measures, with the aim of breaking the chain of the epidemic and limiting its spread.

Urging the community to get the vaccine

Al-Maslamani talked about her experience as one of the medical personnel working in the front lines in the face of the Coronavirus after receiving the vaccine, stressing that she is one of the supporters of obtaining the vaccine, whether at the level of medical personnel or members of society, pointing out that she did not feel any symptoms, except pain at the injection site, and a number of colleagues in the medical staff also did not feel any symptoms after the first dose of the vaccine, except for slight pain and headache.

 The doctor spoke at the seminar, which was held for a full hour yesterday, about the new strain of Covid-19, pointing out that there is no adequate information about the mutated strain of Covid-19, except that the new strain is spreading faster by up to 65% than the current strain However, preliminary information indicates that the new anti-coronavirus, Covid-19 vaccine, from Pfizer-BioNTec is able to affect the vaccine, indicating that the company is currently preparing clinical trials in this regard.

الدوحة: كشفت الدكتورة منى المسلماني-المدير الطبي لمركز الأمراض الانتقالية التابع لمؤسسة حمد الطبية-، النقاب عن أنَّ اللجنة الوطنية للتطعيم في دولة قطر اتخذت قرارا بشأن عدم منح اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19” المطور من شركة “فايزر-وبايونتيك”، لمرضى السرطان الخاضعين للعلاج الكيميائي، سيما وأنَّ العلاج الكيميائي يسهم في خفض مناعة الشخص، وبالتالي في حال أعطي اللقاح لن يقوم اللقاح بدوره في تشكيل الأجسام المضادة بسبب العلاج، ولهذا السبب لم يمنح مرضى السرطان اللقاح.

وأضافت الدكتورة المسلماني قائلة “إنَّ اللجنة الوطنية للتطعيم قررت عدم إعطاء اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19 لمن لديهم تاريخ بردود الفعل التحسسية، كانتفاخ في الوجه وضيق في التنفس، فهذه الفئة لن تحصل على اللقاح، لعدم وجود أدلة علمية كافية توضح مدى أمان اللقاح على هذه الفئة، وأيضا من يعانون من حساسية الأدوية أو الحساسية لبعض الأدوية.”

وأشارت الدكتورة المسلماني في ندوة نظمها معهد الدوحة للدراسات العليا على برنامج “زووم”، إلى أنَّ اللقاح لا يوجد فيه ما يمنع أن يعطى للسيدات الحوامل أو السيدات المرضعات، إلا أن وبسبب عدم وجود دراسات ومعلومات وافية عن مدى تأثير اللقاح على السيدات الحوامل بسبب أنهن لم يكن ضمن المتطوعين، كما الأطفال ممن هم في عمر أقل من 16 سنة.

    وأشارت الدكتورة المسلماني إلى أنَّ اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19” هو أحد الأدوات لمواجهة هذا الفيروس، ولعودة الحياة إلى طبيعتها، إلى جانب الالتزام بالإجراءات الاحترازية، بهدف كسر سلسلة الوباء والحد من تفشيه.

 أدعو المجتمع للحصول على اللقاح

وعرجت الدكتورة المسلماني في حديثها على تجربتها كأحد الكوادر الطبية العاملة في الصفوف الأمامية في مواجهة فيروس كورونا عقب حصوله على اللقاح، مؤكدة أنَّها من المشجعين والداعمين للحصول على اللقاح سواء على مستوى الكوادر الطبية أو أفراد المجتمع، لافتة إلى أنها لم تشعر بأي أعراض تذكر، سوى ألم في موضع الحقنة، كما أنَّ عدد من الزملاء في الكادر الطبي أيضا لم يشعروا بأي أعراض بعد الجرعة الأولى من اللقاح سوى آلام طفيفة وصداع.

وتحدثت الدكتورة في الندوة التي عقدت على مدار ساعة كاملة يوم أمس، عن السلالة الجديدة لكوفيد-19، لافتة إلى أنَّه لا توجد معلومات وافية عن السلالة المتحورة من كوفيد-19، سوى أنَّ السلالة الجديدة سريعة انتشار بنسبة قد تصل إلى 65% من السلالة الحالية، إلا أنَّ المعلومات الأولية تشير إلى أنَّ اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا المستجد كوفيد-19 من شركة فايزر-بايونتيك قادر على التأثير على اللقاح، مشيرة إلى أنَّ الشركة تعكف حاليا على إعداد تجارب اكلينيكية حول هذا الخصوص.
