Qatar Cancer treats 1,250 patients

Doha: Muna Ashkanani, Director General of the Qatari Cancer Society, revealed that the association bear the cost of treating approximately 1,250 adult patients at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research of HMC from the beginning of 2020 until this December, at a total cost of about 18 million riyals, explaining that these efforts come within the framework of the association’s constant endeavor to support people living with the disease and alleviate its impact on them financially and psychologically.

Muna Ashkanani said in a special statement to Al-Raya: The association is keen to cover all medical expenses for all patients, in light of the high costs of treatment, noting that since the association was established in 1997, the association has not neglected one of its main goals, which is treating patients who are unable to bear the costs of treatment and not a single patient was on the waiting list.

She explained that requests are received from medical conditions at the association’s headquarters during the official working periods from Sunday to Thursday, noting that in the event that the required papers and documents are completed, the procedures for approval to cover expenses do not exceed 24 hours, explaining that there is great care on the part of the association’s officials, on top of them. His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Jabr Al-Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors, of the necessity to expedite the completion of the procedures for covering the costs of treatment, as the time and speed factor are very important in dealing with this disease in order to cure, God willing.

She called on the citizens of the Qatari community, both citizens and residents of the country, to donate in favor of treating cancer patients in order to alleviate the burden of the disease on them, through various means of donation, which sought during the last period to increase its activities and provide greater ways for donations to meet all patients’ requests for financial support.

She added that there are many methods that the association relies on in collecting donations in general, the most important of which are collection tables and donation boxes spread within the country, as well as the association’s website www.qcs.qa and also through its application QCS on mobile phones as well as the SMS service by sending the word “Amal” in a short text message to the number 92805 to donate 50 riyals, in addition to the monthly deduction service, which is a form that the donor fills out and specifies the amount he wants to donate and the date he wants to start the deduction, and then the bank to which the donor belongs begins deducting the amount monthly from his own account and grant it to the Association.

She confirmed the association’s launch of all programs that serve this category, whether materially or morally, and that stems from the Qatar National Vision 2030, which focused on the human element, pointing to the association’s permanent endeavor towards achieving its vision of being a platform for community partnership to make Qatar a leader in the field of cancer prevention and mitigation of its effects. And its mission to strive to prevent cancer and mitigate its effects in Qatar, by working with its partners to educate the community, support, empower and advocate for people living with the disease, professional development and scientific research in the field of cancer.

She pointed out that the activities and support programs of the Association did not stop during the last period that witnessed the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), as all non-clinical support programs (psychological and moral) provided to cancer patients were converted into electronic programs through the establishment of support groups through a social media. Broadcasting educational videos for them and instructions to maintain their health and safety.

She pointed out that the provision of these electronic programs is done by a group of experts and specialists in all related topics, in addition to allocating a direct line of communication for patients and their families to respond to all questions and inquiries on all topics that concern them.

She explained that a number of short educational videos were produced in a brief way aimed at adopting a healthy lifestyle by practicing exercises provided by specialists to stimulate the body and strengthen the immune system, which can be done from inside the house in line with the current conditions, as well as educational videos related to healthy food and how to prepare healthy dishes at home and emphasis on the role of food in fighting diseases through strengthening the immune system, which is provided by food specialists.

الدوحة: كشفت السيدة منى أشكناني، المدير العام للجمعية القطرية للسرطان عن تحمّل الجمعية تكلفة علاج ما يقرب من 1250 من المرضى البالغين بالمركز الوطني لعلاج وأبحاث السرطان التابع لمؤسسة حمد الطبية منذ بداية عام 2020 حتى ديسمبر الجاري وذلك بتكلفة إجمالية تقدّر بحوالي 18 مليون ريال، مُوضحة أن هذه الجهود تأتي في إطار السعي الدائم للجمعية لدعم المتعايشين مع المرض والتخفيف من وطأته عليهم ماديًا ونفسيًا.

وقالت منى اشكنانى في تصريح خاص لـ الراية: إن الجمعية تحرص على تغطية كافة النفقات العلاجية لكافة المرضى وذلك في ظل ارتفاع تكاليف العلاج، مُشيرة إلى أنه منذ إنشاء الجمعية في عام 1997 لم تغفل الجمعية أحد أهدافها الأساسية وهو علاج المرضى غير القادرين على تحمّل تكاليف العلاج وعدم وجود مريض واحد على قائمة الانتظار.

وأوضحت أنه يتم استقبال الطلبات من الحالات المرضية في مقر الجمعية خلال فترات العمل الرسمية من الأحد للخميس، مُشيرة إلى أنه في حال استكمال الأوراق والمُستندات المطلوبة فإن إجراءات المُوافقة على تغطية النفقات لا تتعدي 24 ساعة، مُوضحة أن هناك حرصًا كبيرًا من جانب المسؤولين بالجمعية وعلى رأسهم سعادة الشيخ خالد بن جبر آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الإدارة بضرورة الإسراع في إنهاء الإجراءات الخاصة بتغطية تكاليف العلاج حيث إن عامل الوقت والسرعة من الأمور المهمة جدًا في التعامل مع هذا المرض وصولًا للشفاء بإذن الله.

ودعت أبناء المُجتمع القطري من المُواطنين والمقيمين داخل الدولة إلى التبرّع لصالح علاج مرضى السرطان وذلك للتخفيف من وطأة المرض عليهم، عبر وسائل التبرع المُختلفة والتي سعت خلال الفترة الماضية لزيادة نشاطها وإتاحة طرق أكبر للتبرّعات لتلبية كافة طلبات المرضى من الدعم المادي.

وأضافت أن هناك العديد من الوسائل التي تعتمد عليها الجمعية في جمع التبرّعات بشكل عام أهمها طاولات التحصيل وصناديق التبرّعات المُنتشرة داخل الدولة، وكذلك الموقع الإلكتروني للجمعية www.qcs.qa وأيضًا عبر تطبيقها على الهاتف الجوّال QCS app وكذلك خدمة الرسائل النصية القصيرة من خلال إرسال كلمة «امل» في رسالة نصيّة ‏قصيرة إلى الرقم 92805 للتبرع ب 50 ريالًا، بالإضافة لخدمة الاستقطاع الشهري التي تتمثل في نموذج يقوم المُتبرع بتعبئته ويُحدّد فيه المبلغ الذي يُريد التبرع به والتاريخ الذي يرغب فيه ببدء الاستقطاع، وحينها يبدأ البنك الذي ينتمي إليه المُتبرع باستقطاع المبلغ شهريًا من حسابه الخاص ومنحه للجمعية.

وأكدت تدشين الجمعية لكافة البرامج التي تخدم هذه الفئة سواء ماديًا أو معنويًا والتي تنبثق من رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 التي ركّزت على العنصر البشري، مُشيرة إلى سعي الجمعية الدائم نحو تحقيق رؤيتها في أن تكون منصة الشراكة المُجتمعية لجعل قطر رائدة في مجال الوقاية من السرطان وتخفيف آثاره، ورسالتها نحو السعي للوقاية من السرطان وتخفيف آثاره في قطر، من خلال العمل مع شركائها لتوعية المجتمع، ودعم وتمكين ومُناصرة المُتعايشين مع المرض، والتطوير المهني والبحث العلمي في مجال السرطان.

ولفتت إلى أن أنشطة وبرامج الدعم للجمعية لم تتوقف خلال الفترة الماضية التي شهدت انتشار جائحة كورونا «كوفيد-19» حيث تم تحويل جميع برامج الدعم غير الإكلينيكي (النفسي والمعنوي) المُقدمة لمرضى السرطان إلى برامج إلكترونية من خلال إنشاء مجموعات دعم عبر إحدى وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي لبث مقاطع فيديو توعوية خاصة بهم وإرشادات للحفاظ على صحتهم وسلامتهم.

وأشارت إلى أنه يتم الاستعانة في تقديم هذه البرامج الإلكترونية بنخبة من الخبراء والمُتخصصين في كافة الموضوعات ذات الصلة إلى جانب تخصيص خط اتصال مباشر للمرضى وذويهم للرد على كافة الأسئلة والاستفسارات في كافة الموضوعات التي تعنى بهم.

وأوضحت أنه تم إنتاج عدد من الفيديوهات التوعوية القصيرة بطريقة مُختصرة تهدف لتبني نمط حياه صحي من خلال مُمارسة تمارين رياضية يقدمها مُختصون بذلك لتنشيط الجسم وتقوية جهاز المناعة والتي يمكن عملها من داخل المنزل تماشيًا مع الظروف الحالية وكذلك فيديوهات توعوية تتعلق بالغذاء الصحي وكيفية إعداد أطباق صحيّة داخل المنزل والتأكيد على دور الغذاء بالتصدي للأمراض من خلال تقوية الجهاز المناعي والتي يقدمها أخصائيون بالغذاء.
