One more ‘drive through’ swabbing hub soon

Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari has expressed her appreciation for Primary Health Care Centre’s (PHCC) proactive role in stemming the spread of coronavirus in Qatar, saying the swift establishment of ‘Drive Through’ swabbing hubs helped manage the outbreak.
On May 31, as part of the Ministry of Public Health’s (MoPH) efforts to control the COVID-19 pandemic, PHCC initiated three dedicated ‘Drive Through’ swabbing hubs at the Al Waab, Al Thumama, and Leabaib Health Centres, to assist with early detection. On Tuesday, July 14, during a visit to the Al Waab Health Centre, HE Dr Al Kuwari received an overview from PHCC Managing Director Dr Mariam Ali Abdulmalik of the role of the ‘Drive Through’ swabbing hubs and their achievements.
“The Drive through testing service runs across 3 permanent sites with a fourth planned soon. The primary health center through a booking system invites all our high risk population to regularly check. We know that early diagnosis and timely management makes a big difference in the health outcomes. Our unique preventative approach to seek out our patients, test them and treat them early is one of the success factors of Qatar which has contributes to Qatar’s low mortality rate. We invite you to respond to the invitation when you get and ensure you are tested. Remember prevention is always better than cure… keep protected, keep your physical distances, wear your mask and wash your hands regularly.”
The ‘Drive Through’ initiative required significant logistical preparations and capacity expansion, ranging from the availability of trained personnel to take accurate swabbing to the time required to delivering swabs to a laboratory for further analysis. To date, more than 14,236 appointments have been made, with 10679 swabbing performed.
With a focus on vulnerable members of the community, the drive through testing focuses on ensuring the elderly and those with chronic conditions are prioritized.
Her Excellency congratulated Primary Health Care Corporation for their hard work, she commented.
Dr Abdulmalik, managing director at PHCC, Corporation, said: “Operating the swabbing hubs on immediate notice has been a great accomplishment for PHCC, supporting the country increase daily testing capacity and proven to be an effective measure in suppressing the spread of the virus. The tireless work and dedication of the PHCC staff through this period, has helped early detection and the resultant containment of COVID-19.Positive diagnosis of patients in their early stages, especially those at higher risk, has helped treat them better, as well as ensuring the community is safer.”
The ‘Drive Through’ swabbing hubs are accessible by invitation only. Patients will be contacted by telephone and receive an SMS appointment confirmation from PHCC with a date, time, slot, and location. They will be required to show their QID to verify their invitation on arrival.
Once swabbed, patients will receive results from MoPH by phone call if positive and by SMS if negative.

أكدت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة أهمية الدور الذي تلعبه مراكز المسح من المركبات للكشف عن فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19) في التصدي لانتشار الوباء.
جاء ذلك خلال زيارة لسعادة وزيرة الصحة العامة إلى مركز الوعب الصحي حيث استمعت إلى ملخص من الدكتورة مريم علي عبد الملك مدير عام مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية حول الدور الذي تلعبه مراكز المسح من المركبات والإنجازات التي حققتها.
وأشادت سعادتها في هذا الإطار بالدور النشط لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية في الحد من انتشار وباء كورونا (كوفيد-19) في دولة قطر, وأكدت أن التشخيص المبكر والإدارة الناجحة يُحدثان فرقا كبيرًا في النتائج,مضيفة أن المقاربة الوقائية الفريدة من نوعها والمتمثلة في توجيه الدعوة للأشخاص للحضور وفحصهم ومعالجتهم في وقت مبكر تعد من عوامل النجاح في دولة قطر والتي ساهمت في تقليل معدل الوفيات في البلاد.
ودعت في هذا الإطار الأفراد الذين يتلقون دعوة لإجراء الكشف عن فيروس كورونا من خلال مركبات المسح إلى الاستجابة لذلك، لافتاً إلى أن الوقاية خير من العلاج دائمًا، ومؤكدة ضرورة مواصلة الالتزام بالتدابير الوقائية ومنها ارتداء الكمامات والمحافظة على التباعد الاجتماعي وغسل اليدين بانتظام. وكانت مؤسسة الرعاية الأولية قد أطلقت في 31 مايو الماضي مراكز متخصصة للمسح من المركبات للفحص عن فيروس (كوفيد-19) في مراكز الوعب والثمامة ولعبيب للمساعدة في الكشف المبكر عن الإصابات ويتم حاليًا التخطيط لإطلاق الخدمة في مركز رابع.
وذكرت مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية أن عدد المواعيد التي تم تحديدها لأخذ المسحات من المركبات بلغ منذ تاريخ إطلاق الخدمة وحتى الآن 14 ألفًا و236 موعدًا، في حين بلغ عدد الذين حضروا لتلك المواعيد وأخذت منهم المسحات 10 آلاف و679 شخصًا.
وتحرص مراكز المسح من المركبات على أن تكون أولوية الفحص لكبار السن والأفراد الذين يعانون من أمراض مزمنة.
وتقوم مؤسسة الرعاية الأولية بتوجيه دعوة عبر نظام الحجز لكل الأفراد من ذوي المخاطر المرتفعة لإجراء الفحوصات بانتظام من خلال المراكز الصحية المعنية.
من جهتها، قالت الدكتورة مريم عبدالملك، المدير العام لمؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية إن مراكز المسح من المركبات إنجاز مهم من بين الإنجازات التي حققتها الرعاية الأولية إذ ساعد ذلك على زيادة قدرة الفحص اليومية وأثبت فاعلية في الحد من انتشار الفيروس.
وأضافت أن العمل الدؤوب والتفاني من جانب موظفي الرعاية الأولية خلال هذه الفترة ساهم في الكشف المبكر وبالتالي احتواء الوباء، حيث إن الفحص الاستباقي في المراحل المبكرة وخاصة في فئة الأفراد ذوي المخاطر المرتفعة ساعد في معالجتهم وضمان سلامة المجتمع. يمكن الوصول إلى مراكز المسح من المركبات بناءً على دعوة مسبقة فقط، حيث يتلقى الأشخاص اتصالًا هاتفيًا ورسالة نصية قصيرة من مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية بتأكيد تاريخ الفحص ووقته والفترة المخصصة له ومكان إجرائه.
ويحصل الأشخاص الذين يتم أخذ المسحة منهم على نتيجة الفحص من وزارة الصحة العامة من خلال مكالمة هاتفية إذا كانت النتيجة إيجابية، وعبر رسالة نصية قصيرة إذا كانت النتيجة سلبية.
