Minister of Health: Coronavirus deaths in Qatar are among the lowest in the world

The Minister of Public Health, Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, today attended a meeting of the COVID-19 Health Tactical Command Team. Her Excellency was briefed by the team on the latest updates and plans to tackle the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in Qatar.
The health tactical command team formed back in April led by Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik, managing director at PHCC is made up of key stakeholders, with both clinical and operational leads from MOPH, PHCC, and HMC
The team was set up to lead the strategic planning and implementation of quarantine facilities in Qatar, including capacity planning and management, and developing policies and procedures relating to quarantine practices, whilst ensuring alignment with sector-wide services.
The team is also responsible for planning and implementing community testing in Qatar. Successfully expanding accessibility to testing via Test and Hold health centers, drive-through facilities, and more recently home healthcare. Adapting policy and procedures to meet the emerging needs of the service.
The Minister of Public Health said: “Qatar’s strategy to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic relies heavily on community testing, tracing and quarantining in the effort to reduce the spread of the infection in our community. Early identification of cases allows for earlier treatment which may prevent complications. This has helped Qatar maintain one of the lowest COVID-19 mortality rates in the world.”
“As we battle against Covid-19, I would like to acknowledge the efforts of this team that are driven by the commitment to ensure the health and wellbeing of the people of Qatar.”
Her Excellency further added: “During this crisis, adapting policy and procedures to meet the emerging needs of our population has been a strength of our country and our healthcare system. This is especially true in primary care which offers now numerous home visits, virtual consultation, and drive through testing options to support safe access to care while physical distancing.”
“We invite our high-risk populations and their families please use our first-class virtual consultations, our home visits and our drive through testing facilities. Go out to do your essential business only and keep your physical distancing and masks at all times. And don’t forget to wash your hands regularly.”
During the meeting, the team provided an overview of progress made thus far, lessons learned, and plans moving forward. Her Excellency was briefed on key areas, the expansion of testing facilities to protect those most vulnerable in the community. with over 210,000 patients been swabbed to date, 56% of the national total, the team Successfully expanded accessibility to testing via Test and Hold health centers, drive-through facilities and more recently home healthcare. To date 230, 833 virtual consultations have been delivered by the team.
The team also provided an overview of the development of quarantine facilities which have helped to significantly curb the spread of COVD-19, especially amongst the Labor community. The facilities have housed 17,699 guests in quarantine accommodation to date, with multi-disciplined teams coordinating the transportation, accommodation, and screening of patients.

قالت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة إن استراتيجية دولة قطر للاستجابة لوباء فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19)، تعتمد بشكل كبير على اختبار أفراد المجتمع وتتبع الحالات ووضعها في العزل الصحي في إطار جهودها لتقليل انتشار العدوى في المجتمع .
وأضافت سعادتها أن الكشف المبكر للحالات يساهم في علاجها في وقت مبكر، مما قد يمنع ظهور المضاعفات لدى المرضى، وهذا ما ساهم في انخفاض معدلات الوفيات بسبب فيروس (كوفيد-19) في دولة قطر، لتكون من أدنى المعدلات على مستوى العالم .
جاء ذلك خلال حضور سعادة وزيرة الصحة العامة اجتماع الفريق القيادي التكتيكي الصحي لكوفيد-19، حيث عرض الفريق على سعادة الوزيرة ملخصا حول أحدث التطورات والخطط لمواجهة انتشار جائحة فيروس كورونا (كوفيد-19) في دولة قطر.
وأنشئ الفريق القيادي التكتيكي الصحي في شهر أبريل الماضي، بقيادة الدكتورة مريم عبدالملك مدير عام مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، حيث يتكون من عدد من أصحاب العلاقة الرئيسيين، بالإضافة إلى قادة اكلينيكيين وتشغيليين من وزارة الصحة العامة ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية ومؤسسة حمد الطبية.
وتم تشكيل الفريق لقيادة عملية تخطيط وتنفيذ مرافق العزل الصحي في دولة قطر، بما في ذلك التخطيط للسعة الاستيعابية لهذه المرافق وإدارتها، وإعداد السياسات والإجراءات المتعلقة بممارسات العزل الصحي وضمان توافقها مع خدمات القطاع على النطاق الأوسع.
ويتولى الفريق أيضا مسؤولية تخطيط وتنفيذ عملية الفحص المجتمعي في دولة قطر، حيث نجح في توسيع نطاق إجراء الفحوصات من خلال تخصيص بعض المراكز الصحية لإجراء الفحوص، وإمكانية إجراء الفحص داخل المركبات في المرافق المخصصة ومؤخرا تقديم الرعاية الصحية المنزلية، بالإضافة إلى تعديل السياسات والإجراءات لتلبية الاحتياجات المستجدة لهذه الخدمة.
وثمنت سعادة وزيرة الصحة العامة جهود هذا الفريق الذي يعمل بجد من منطلق التزامه بالمحافظة على صحة وعافية جميع سكان دولة قطر.
وأشارت سعادتها إلى أنه خلال هذه الأزمة، ساهم تعديل السياسات والإجراءات سعيا لتلبية الاحتياجات الجديدة للسكان بدور كبير في تعزيز قوة النظام الصحي في دولة قطر، وينطبق هذا الأمر بشكل كبير على الرعاية الأولية التي أصبحت الآن تقدم خدمات منزلية متعددة، واستشارات افتراضية، وخيارات إجراء الفحص من المركبات في المرافق المخصصة لدعم الوصول الآمن للرعاية مع المحافظة على التباعد الجسدي.
ودعت الأفراد ذوي المخاطر المرتفعة وعائلاتهم إلى الاستفادة من الخدمات العديدة التي تشمل الاستشارات الافتراضية عالية الجودة، والزيارات المنزلية للعاملين الصحيين، بالإضافة إلى إمكانية إجراء الفحص داخل المركبات في المرافق المخصصة، حيث يمكنهم الخروج لممارسة أعمالهم الضرورية مع المحافظة على التباعد الجسدي ووضع الكمام الطبي في جميع الأوقات، بالإضافة إلى غسل اليدين بشكل منتظم.
وخلال الاجتماع قدم الفريق القيادي التكتيكي لسعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة، عرضا مختصرا حول التطور الذي تم إحرازه حتى الآن، والدروس المستفادة والخطط المستقبلية، والمجالات الرئيسية، وتوسيع مرافق الفحص لحماية الفئات الأضعف في المجتمع.
ونجح الفريق في توسيع نطاق إجراء الفحوص من خلال تخصيص بعض المراكز الصحية لإجراء الفحص، وإمكانية إجراء الفحص داخل المركبات في المرافق المخصصة، ومؤخرا تقديم الرعاية الصحية المنزلية حيث تم حتى اليوم إجراء 230 ألفا و833 استشارة افتراضية.
كما قدم الفريق عرضا حول تطور مرافق العزل الصحي والتي ساهمت وبشكل كبير في تقليل انتشار فيروس (كوفيد-19) لدى فئة العمال، حيث تم إدخال 17 ألفا و699 مريضا في مرافق العزل حتى الآن، مع وجود فرق متعددة التخصصات لتنسيق عمليات نقل المرضى وإقامتهم وفحصهم.
ومن جهتها قالت الدكتورة مريم عبدالملك مدير عام مؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية: إنه “في الأشهر القليلة الماضية تحتم علينا أن نتعلم ونتطور بشكل أسرع من أي وقت مضى، وإنني على ثقة بأننا سنستمر في مواجهة التحديات بنفس العزيمة والإصرار، والالتزام بالجودة التي حققناها حتى الآن”.
وأكدت على أهمية ما تم إحرازه حتى الآن، وعلى استمرار العمل بشكل وثيق مع الشركاء بالمجتمع في المعركة ضد فيروس (كوفيد-19).
