Sidra Medicine Achieves Institutional Accreditation from Canada’s Royal College

Doha: Sidra Medicine, a member of Qatar Foundation, announced that it has successfully achieved institutional accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College).
The Royal College accreditation paves the way for Sidra Medicine to accredit its postgraduate medical education residency training programs in multiple specialties including cardiology, general surgery, nephrology, neurology, medical genetics and genomics, and more.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Chair of Medical Education at Sidra Medicine Prof. Ibrahim Janahi said, “This accomplishment reflects our commitment to delivering the highest quality postgraduate medical education for our students. It also highlights our steady commitment to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary for superior patient care and is a testament to the strength of our medical education programs.” It added that Sidra Medicines medical education programs are designed to provide residents, graduates and trainees with an exceptional educational experience, with the aim of shaping safe and competent future doctors who specialize in children’s and women’s health.
In turn, Executive Director of the Royal Colleges Office of International Collaboration and Advancement and Chief Operating Officer of Royal College Canada International Craig Ceppetelli said that Sidra Medicine receiving this accreditation and all the work underway to accredit its programs enhance postgraduate medical education in Qatar.
Sidra Medicine is currently in the process of having its residency training program in pediatrics accredited by the Royal College, and plans are underway to seek accreditation for several programs between 2025 and 2029. Once these steps are complete, it will eventually allow Sidra Medicine physicians to challenge the Royal College certification exams.
Earlier this year, Sidra Medicine hosted its second Medical Education Day to honor its batch of 2023-2024 students, residents and fellows. Over 50 graduating medical students sponsored by Sidra Medicine, resident trainees, and graduating fellows were recognized for being the top performers in their respective specialties.

الدوحة: أعلن سدرة للطب، عضو مؤسسة قطر، عن نجاحه في الحصول على الاعتماد المؤسسي من قبل الكلية الملكية للأطباء والجراحين في كندا (الكلية الملكية).
ويمهد هذا الاعتماد الطريق أمام سدرة للطب لاعتماد برامج الإقامة الطبية لما بعد التخرج، والتي تشمل العديد من التخصصات، بما في ذلك أمراض القلب، والجراحة العامة، وأمراض الكلى، والأمراض العصبية، وعلم الوراثة الطبية والجينوميات، وغيرها.
وقال البروفيسور إبراهيم جناحي رئيس قسم التعليم الطبي في سدرة للطب، في تصريح صحفي اليوم، إن الاعتماد يعكس التزام سدرة للطب بتقديم أعلى مستويات الجودة في التعليم الطبي ما بعد التخرج للطلبة، كما يسلط الضوء على التزامه الثابت بتزويدهم بالمهارات والمعارف التي سوف تتيح لهم تقديم رعاية فائقة للمرضى، فضلا عما يشكله من دليل على قوة برامج التعليم الطبي في سدرة.
ونوه إلى أن برنامج التعليم الطبي في سدرة للطب يستهدف تزويد الأطباء المنتسبين لبرامج الإقامة والخريجين والمتدربين بتجربة تعليمية استثنائية، وذلك في إطار التزامه بتخريج جيل من أطباء المستقبل ممن يتمتعون بالكفاءة، ويتخصصون في طب النساء والأطفال.
من جهته، أبرز السيد كريج سيبيتيلي المدير التنفيذي لمكتب التعاون الدولي والتطوير في الكلية الملكية والمدير التنفيذي للعمليات في الكلية الملكية الدولية في كندا، أن الاعتماد الذي ناله سدرة للطب إلى جانب العمل الجاري الآن لاعتماد برامجه يعزز مسيرة التعليم الطبي لما بعد التخرج في قطر.
ويعمل سدرة للطب حاليا من أجل اعتماد برنامجه التدريبي للأطباء المقيمين في طب الأطفال من قبل الكلية الملكية، كما يجري حاليا وضع الخطط الرامية لاعتماد عدة برامج خلال الفترة من 2025 إلى 2029. وفور اكتمال هذه الخطوات، سوف يتيح ذلك لأطباء سدرة للطب في نهاية الأمر إمكانية التقدم لامتحانات الاعتماد الخاصة بالكلية الملكية.
وكان سدرة للطب قد احتفل بيوم التعليم الطبي الثاني في شهر يونيو الماضي، وذلك عبر تكريم خريجيه من دفعة (2023 – 2024) من الطلاب والأطباء المقيمين وغيرهم.
