MoPH Launches Annual Campaign to Vaccinate Grade Ten Students

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health announced the launch of the annual vaccination campaign against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough (Tdap), starting from 15 January in private schools and 28 January in the government schools, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Primary Health Care Corporation. This year, the campaign aims to vaccinate grade high schools students in independent, private, and public schools in the State of Qatar Director of Health Protection and Communicable Diseases Control Department at the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Hamad Eid Al Rumaihi said: The implementation of the vaccination campaign against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough (Tdap) annually aims to enhance the immunity of male and female students, against these three diseases. The World Health Organization recommends that the vaccination against the three diseases should be taken every 10 years as a booster dose.
He clarified that this comes within the framework of the periodic vaccination for adolescents and within the National immunization schedule in the State of Qatar.
Dr. Hamad Al Rumaihi added that the State of Qatar does not suffer from the spread of tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough, which is attributed to the high vaccination coverage; However, he emphasized that attention should be paid to the seriousness of the three diseases targeted by the vaccine, which may cause serious complications including death or total disability to the person infected with any of them.
He confirmed that vaccine is not new, and it is part of the childhood vaccination program, part of adolescent routine vaccination and it is a pre-entry requirement for most colleges both locally and internationally The MoPH encouraged parents and guardians of the students to have their children take the vaccine, as it has a significant impact on enhancing their health and protecting them from diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة عن انطلاق حملة التطعيم السنوية ضد أمراض التيتانوس والدفتيريا والسعال الديكي Tdap اعتبارا من غد الإثنين وذلك بالمدارس الخاصة ومدارس الجاليات، واعتبارا من يوم 28 يناير الجاري بالمدارس الحكومية.
وتستهدف الحملة التي تتم بالتعاون مع وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي ومؤسسة الرعاية الصحية الأولية، تطعيم طلاب وطالبات الصف العاشر بالمدارس الحكومية والخاصة ومدارس الجاليات في دولة قطر.
وقال الدكتور حمد عيد الرميحي مدير إدارة حماية الصحة والأمراض غير الانتقالية في وزارة الصحة العامة، إن التطعيم ضد أمراض التيتانوس والدفتيريا والسعال الديكي Tdapيتم سنويا بهدف تعزيز مناعة الطلاب والطالبات، حيث توصي منظمة الصحة العالمية بضرورة أخذ اللقاح المضاد للأمراض الثلاثة كل 10 سنوات كجرعة منشطة.
وأضاف أن دولة قطر لا تعاني من انتشار أمراض التيتانوس والدفتيريا والسعال الديكي بفضل مستوى التغطية العالية للتطعيم، إلا أنه يجب الانتباه إلى خطورة الأمراض الثلاثة والتي قد تتسبب بمضاعفات شديدة للمصاب بأي منها.
وأوضح الدكتور حمد الرميحي أن تطعيم Tdap لا يعد تطعيما جديدا خاصة وأن هذه الجرعة تأتي في إطار التطعيمات الدورية الخاصة بالمراهقين ضمن سلسلة التطعيمات الأساسية لجدول التطعيمات المعمول به في دولة قطر وضمن متطلبات الالتحاق بالجامعات المحلية أو العالمية.
ودعت وزارة الصحة العامة الأهالي وأولياء أمور الطلاب والطالبات إلى حث أبنائهم على الحصول على التطعيم، لما له من أثر بالغ في تعزيز صحتهم ووقايتها من أمراض الدفتيريا والتيتانوس والسعال الديكي.
