Hopes are bigger than before to end Gulf rift: Kuwait Prime Minister

QNA – Kuwait:
The Prime Minister of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah affirmed today that his country continues its efforts to end the Gulf rift, indicating that there are bigger hopes than before for the interest of all states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Speaking at a meeting with editors of Kuwaiti local newspapers, Kuwaiti Prime Minister stressed that the Amir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al-Sabah continues to seek to mend the rift and find the basis for continuing the GCC march, and for Kuwait to always be the one that brings different parties together based on achieving all the reassurance of any future agreement.
“I am sure that all Gulf states see the GCC march important for them, for the region and the world. This is what we should build on it and use it as a common ground for moving ahead to bridge the gap,” he said.
“Regrettably, we are now in the fourth year of the Gulf disagreement,” he said, adding, “But attempts are still continuing and hopes are bigger than before. We used to move one step ahead and return two steps backward. But now if we move forward a step, it is followed by another step,” in the interest of all states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

أكد سمو الشيخ صباح خالد الحمد الصباح رئيس مجلس الوزراء الكويتي، أمس، أن بلاده مستمرة في مساعيها لرأب الصدع الخليجي. منوهاً بأن الآمال حالياً أكبر مما كانت عليه في السابق، بما يحقق المصلحة لكل دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي.
وشدد رئيس الوزراء الكويتي، في لقاء مع رؤساء تحرير الصحف المحلية الكويتية، على أن سمو الشيخ صباح الأحمد الجابر الصباح أمير دولة الكويت مستمر «في السعي لرأب الصدع وإيجاد الأرضية للبناء عليها لعودة اللحمة الخليجية، وأن تكون الكويت دائماً هي من تجمع الأطراف المختلفة على أسس تحقق كل الطمأنينة لأي اتفاق مقبل».
وقال إنه «متأكد من أن جميع دول الخليج ترى أن مسيرة دول مجلس التعاون مهمة لها وللمنطقة والعالم، وذلك ما يجب أن نبني عليه وأن نأخذ الأرضية المشتركة للانطلاق لسد الفجوة».
وأضاف: «للأسف، نحن الآن في السنة الرابعة من الخلاف الخليجي.. لكن المحاولات ما زالت مستمرة والآمال أكبر مما كانت عليه، فقد كنا نتقدم خطوة ونعود خطوتين.. والآن إن شاء الله إذا تقدمنا خطوة، تليها خطوة أخرى بما يحقق المصلحة لكل دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي».
