QA initiative a token of appreciation for medical workers: MoFA

QNA – Doha: 

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the State of Qatar commends Qatar Airways initiative to offer doctors and medical workers around the globe 100k return tickets.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the source said: “Throughout this pandemic, doctors and medical workers have been working selflessly and tirelessly to provide adequate medical care and protect their communities”.  Qatar Airways initiative comes as a token of appreciation for their applaudable work, the official added.

The official noted that the State of Qatar and Qatar Airways have played a pivotal humanitarian role during the COVID-19 pandemic, through coordination with friendly and brotherly countries, Qatar Airways have transported more than 1 million passengers safely to their homes, in addition to tons of medical shipments, in a time when most airports are closed and airlines operations suspended. 

These efforts have taken place despite the airspace blockade on Qatar, which increased the duration and cost of flights. Many friendly countries and international multilateral organizations lauded Qatar on its active role in battling the pandemic despite the illegal blockade, the official said.

أشاد مصدر مسؤول في وزارة الخارجية، بمبادرة الخطوط الجوية القطرية بتوفير 100 ألف تذكرة سفر مجانية للأطباء والطواقم الطبية والصحية للسفر خلال جائحة كورونا (كوفيد 19) والتي أثرت على العالم بأجمعه.

وقال المصدر، في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء القطرية “قنا” ، إن الأطباء والطواقم الطبية من باحثين وممرضين وصيدلانيين وعاملين في القطاع الصحي قاموا بضرب أروع الأمثال الإنسانية بتفانيهم في عملهم وما قدموه من إيثار وبذل قصارى جهدهم لرعاية المرضى وحماية المجتمعات من هذا الوباء.

وأكد المصدر أن مبادرة الخطوط الجوية القطرية تأتي كلفتة تقدير طيبة لفئة تستحق من العالم أجمعه، الاحترام والتقدير ورد الجميل.

وأشار إلى الدور الإنساني المهم الذي تلعبه دولة قطر والخطوط الجوية القطرية خلال هذه الجائحة عن طريق التنسيق مع البعثات الدبلوماسية والدول لتيسير رحلات الإجلاء لعودة الأشخاص إلى أوطانهم آمنين، في الوقت الذي أغلقت فيه معظم مطارات العالم وتوقفت شركات الطيران عن تشغيل رحلاتها.

وأكد أن هذه الجهود النشطة التي أسهمت في إعادة أكثر من مليون إنسان إلى أوطانهم ونقل آلاف الأطنان من المساعدات والبضائع، تأتي على الرغم من الحصار والتضييق على معابر دولة قطر الجوية مما يزيد مسافات النقل والتكلفة، وأضاف: “قد لقي هذا الأمر تقديرا لدى عدد من الدول الشقيقة والصديقة والمنظمات الأممية”.
