Promotion and protection of workers’ rights top priority: Ministry

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor, and Social Affairs (MADLSA), has said that it places among its priorities the promotion and protection of workers’ rights, the provision of a safe environment for work, capacity building, training, and awareness, in line with the vision of the country based on investment in human capital.
The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor, and Social Affairs celebrated yesterday the International Workers’ Day, which falls on May 1 of each year.
In a statement, the Ministry said that the 2020 celebration is different from previous years due to the circumstances of the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide.
The Ministry added that it works continuously in cooperation with various local and international partners to search for the best and most successful ways to care for workers and implement modern legislation in accordance with the highest standards.
The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs drew attention to the fact that, in light of this pandemic, it relied in particular on occupational safety and health in the workplace and residence as well as workers awareness and their commitment to the precautionary measures necessary to limit the spread of COVID-19 to maintain their safety.
To achieve this, the Ministry launched the “conscious” campaign that aims primarily to educate workers and employers about the various preventive measures in multiple languages. It also produced educational media campaigns in cooperation with various embassies and representatives of labour and community attaches in the country.
The Ministry noted that the State continues to provide economic support packages in various sectors to reduce the economic effects caused by this crisis to ensure business continuity, the sustainability of employment, the protection of wages, and the development of appropriate solutions to ensure its transfer.
The Ministry affirmed its commitment to provide the necessary free health care to workers infected with the virus without any discrimination in addition to ensuring the provision of basic living needs that guarantee a decent life for them, pointing out that following precautionary directives has the greatest impact in overcoming the spread of this virus.

أكدت وزارة التنمية الإداريّة والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعيّة أنها تضع ضمن أولوياتها تعزيز وحماية حقوق العمّال وتوفير بيئة آمنة للعمل وبناء القدرات والتدريب والتوعية وذلك في إطار تنفيذ رؤية الدولة القائمة على الاستثمار في رأس المال البشري. وقالت الوزراة في بيان بمُناسبة الاحتفال باليوم العالمي للعمّال: في هذا الإطار نعمل بشكل مستمر وبالتعاون مع مختلف الشركاء المحليين والدوليين للبحث عن أفضل سبل رعاية العمّال وأنجحها، وتنفيذ التشريعات الحديثة وَفق أعلى المعايير. وفي ظل هذه الجائحة تعوّل الوزارة بشكل خاص على السلامة والصحة المهنيّة في أماكن العمل والإقامة ووعي العمّال والتزامهم بالإجراءات الاحترازيّة اللازمة للحدّ من انتشار فيروس «كوفيد-19» والحفاظ على سلامتهم. وتحقيقاً لذلك أطلقت الوزارة حملة «واعي» التي تهدف في المقام الأوّل لتوعية العمّال وأصحاب العمل بمختلف الإجراءات الوقائيّة باللغات المتعدّدة للعمالة، وإنتاج وسائط إعلاميّة والتثقيف بالتعاون مع مختلف السفارات وممثلي الملحقات العماليّة والجاليات بالدولة.
وتابع البيان: تستمرّ الدولة في تقديم حزم الدعم الاقتصادي بمختلف القطاعات للحدّ من الآثار الاقتصاديّة التي تتسبب بها هذه الأزمة لضمان استمرارية الأعمال وتواصلها واستدامة التوظيف وحماية الأجور ووضع الحلول المُناسبة لضمان تحويلها. وأكدت الوزارة الالتزام بتقديم الرعاية الصحيّة المجانية اللازمة للعمّال المُصابين بالفيروس دون أي تمييز وضمان توفير الاحتياجات المعيشيّة الأساسيّة التي تضمن الحياة الكريمة لهم.
