QRCS provides equipment to detect Covid-19 cases in Gaza

The representative mission of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Gaza has initiated a project to enhance emergency and trauma services at hospitals of the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MOH), amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) risks.

Medical solutions and laboratory equipment will be secured to detect Covid-19 cases. At a total cost of $50,000, the new medical supplies will serve up to 28,800 patients per day at the departments of emergency and trauma in public hospitals.

To ensure transparency and compliance with the regulations of QRCS’s mission in Gaza, a tender was conducted to purchase and procure 10 patient monitors. First, a list of items and specifications was received from MOH. Then, the tender documents and conditions were prepared and announced.

One week later, a co-ordination meeting was held with representatives of MOH and the companies concerned. The technical and financial bids were examined, and the winning bidder was selected. The supplies are set to be delivered within days.

At the same time, QRCS’s mission is working together with MOH to apply the protective measures against Covid-19 at hospitals and health centres. The World Health Organisation (WHO) called for maintaining maximum precautions to prevent the spread of the virus among the community of Gaza, where the health sector is already struggling due to years of blockade and lack of funding.

أطلق الهلال الأحمر القطري من خلال بعثته التمثيلية تدخلاً إنسانياً لدعم خدمات طب الطوارئ في المستشفيات التابعة لوزارة الصحة الفلسطينية بغزة، في ظل مخاطر انتشار وباء فيروس كورونا «كوفيد – 19». يهدف المشروع إلى توفير المحاليل والأجهزة المخبرية اللازمة لتشخيص أي حالات إصابة بالفيروس، متمثلة في 10 أجهزة «patient monitors» حديثة، بتكلفة إجمالية قدرها 50 ألف دولار. ويقدر عدد المستفيدين من هذه الخدمات بحوالي 28.800 مريض شهرياً من المترددين على أقسام الطوارئ في المستشفيات الحكومية. وبحسب خطط العمل المتبعة في بعثة الهلال الأحمر القطري، فقد جرى بالفعل الإعلان عن مناقصة علنية للشراء والتوريد، بما يضمن الشفافية وسلامة الإجراءات، بداية من استلام قائمة الاحتياجات، والمواصفات الفنية من وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية ومراجعتها، ثم إعداد ملفات وشروط المناقصة، والإعلان عنها.
