QDB launches initiative to find innovative solutions to tackle coronavirus

Doha: Qatar Development Bank launched an online portal to register participants in an initiative to develop entrepreneurial ideas to contribute to reducing the repercussions of the Coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19).
This initiative will be accomplished through the launch of the “hackathon,” which is an online platform that will open for four days, to allow innovators to develop their entrepreneurial ideas that will help in dealing with the various problems and challenges posed by the spread of the new coronavirus epidemic.
Qatar Development Bank stated that all those interested in entrepreneurial ideas, can help in addressing the repercussions of the spread of the Coronavirus in various fields, can submit their requests to participate in the hackathon initiative starting today and until Tuesday through the online portal www.hackcovid19.qa.
The hackathon initiative includes four challenges which are, challenge one; protect the elderly & at-risk members of our community from COVID-19 exposure, challenge two; ensure the safety & efficiency of our healthcare professionals amid the COVID-19 outbreak, challenge three; strengthen our supply chain to facilitate the availability of medical supplies & essentials, offsetting COVID-19 limitations and challenge four; maintain the productivity & well-being of our workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The five winning ideas will receive financing and support of QR 250,000 each, to develop and implement their ideas, as well as several services, advisory programs and incubation services that will help the implementation of the ideas.
QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa said that hackathon HACK-COVID-19 to develop innovative solutions to tackle the Corona epidemic is a unique national initiative that reflects the volume of cooperation between different state entities in working to provide an opportunity for innovators of pioneering ideas that will find practical solutions to reduce the impact of the epidemic on a number of sectors. Al Khalifa added that this initiative is a testament to the constant eagerness of Qatar Development Bank and its partners to embrace and support the owners of these ideas at all times.
Al Khalifa expressed thanks to all parties that cooperated with the bank in launching this pioneering national initiative, expressing his confidence that its outcomes will be to find the best possible solutions to deal with the effects of the epidemic and reduce its repercussions at all levels.
The national initiative, to be held from April 16 to 19, is held in partnership between Qatar Development Bank and a number of entities and institutions in the country, which are the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ooredoo, Aspetar Hospital, University of Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, North Atlantic College in Qatar, HEC Paris Business University in Qatar, Qatar Business Incubation Center, Qatar Sport Accelerator, Digital Incubation Center, Qatar Science & Technology Park, NAMA Center, Qatar Scientific Club and TASMU Innovation Lab.

أعلن بنك قطر للتنميةعن إطلاق بوابة إلكترونية لتسجيل المشاركين في مبادرة لتطوير الأفكار الريادية المعنية بالإسهام في الحد من تداعيات وباء كورونا /كوفيد – 19/.
وسيتم إنجاز هذه المبادرة من خلال إطلاق /هاكاثون/ وهي منصة إلكترونية تفتح لمدة 4 أيام لتمنح أصحاب الأفكار المبتكرة الفرصة لتطوير أفكارهم الريادية التي من شأنها أن تساعد على التعامل مع مختلف المشاكل والتحديات التي يطرحها انتشار وباء كورونا المستجد.
وذكر بنك قطر للتنمية أنه يمكن لجميع المهتمين بالأفكار الريادية من المواطنين والمقيمين من أصحاب الأفكار المبتكرة التي من شأنها المساعدة في التصدي لتداعيات انتشار الوباء في مختلف المجالات، تقديم طلباتهم للمشاركة في الهاكاثون ابتداء من اليوم وحتى /الثلاثاء/ المقبل، وذلك عبر البوابة الإلكترونية www.hackcovid19.qa .
ويضم /الهاكاثون/ أربعة محاور يتبارى من خلالها المتسابقون من بينها، حماية كبار السن وفئات المجتمع الاكثر عرضة للإصابة بعدوى الفيروس، وضمان حماية وفعالية موظفي قطاع الرعاية الصحية خلال مرحلة انتشار كورونا، والمحافظة على إنتاجية وصحة القوى العاملة خلال مرحلة انتشار الفيروس، إلى جانب تقوية سلاسل التوريد والعمل على تسهيل وفرة المواد الطبية والسلع الأساسية بالرغم من تحديات كوفيد-19.
وستحصل أفضل 5 أفكار من بين جميع الفرق المشاركة بعد انتهاء الهاكاثون على تمويل ودعم بقيمة تصل إلى 250 ألف ريال لكل منها، لتطوير وتنفيذ أفكارها، فضلاً عن عدد من الخدمات والبرامج الاستشارية وخدمات الاحتضان التي من شأنها أن تساعد في تنفيذ الأفكار الفائزة على أرض الواقع.
وقال السيد عبدالعزيز بن ناصر آل خليفة، الرئيس التنفيذي لبنك قطر للتنمية: ” إن هاكاثون كوفيد-19 لتطوير الحلول المبتكرة لمواجهة وباء كورونا مبادرة وطنية فريدة تعكس حجم التعاون بين مختلف جهات الدولة في العمل على إتاحة الفرصة لأصحاب الأفكار الرائدة التي من شأنها إيجاد حلول عملية للحد من تأثير الوباء على عدد من القطاعات”.
وأضاف أن هذه المبادرة هي دليل على الحرص الدائم من بنك قطر للتنمية ومن الجهات الشريكة على احتضان ودعم أصحاب هذه الأفكار من مواطنين ومقيمين في جميع الأوقات.
وتوجه بالشكر لجميع الجهات التي تعاونت مع البنك في إطلاق هذه المبادرة الوطنية الرائدة،معربا عن ثقته في أن مخرجاتها ستكون إيجاد أفضل الحلول الممكنة للتعامل مع آثار الوباء والتقليص من تداعياته على كافة المستويات.
يشار إلى أن هذه المبادرة الوطنية التي تنطلق في الفترة ما بين 16 إلى 19 الشهر الجاري تقام بالشراكة بين بنك قطر للتنمية وعدد من الجهات والمؤسسات في الدولة، وهي وزارة الصحة العامة، ووزارة التجارة والصناعة، ووزارة المواصلات والاتصالات، وأوريدو، ومستشفى سبيتار، وجامعة قطر، وجامعة حمد بن خليفة، وجامعة فرجينيا كومنولث في قطر، وجامعة كارنيجي ميلون في قطر، وكلية شمال الأطلنطي في قطر، وجامعة الدراسات العليا لإدارة الأعمال HEC Paris في قطر، وحاضنة قطر للأعمال، وحاضنة قطر للتكنولوجيا الرياضية، وحاضنة الأعمال الرقمية، وواحة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، ومركز نماء، والنادي العلمي القطري، وتسمو مختبر الابتكار.
