Doha: Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani stated yesterday that the private sector employers are dealing with the current conditions related to coronavirus (COVID-19) with great responsibility.
He called on citizens and residents not to purchase large and redundant quantities of ration goods and materials for storage, stressing that there is a secure strategic stock of goods, QNA reported.
Attending Qatar Chamber’s Board of Directors regular meeting to discuss impacts of COVID-19 on both national and world economy, the Chairman said: “There is no need to worry.
There is no need to restore large quantities of commodities” he added, calling traders to support the provision of commodities.” Sheikh Khalifa said that the ongoing crisis of Coronavirus that hit most world countries constitutes a real test for all of us, stressing the importance of dealing with the crisis without intimidation or underestimation.
He hailed the precautionary measures adopted by the country to curb the virus outbreak. The QC Chairman stressed that the government efforts will be successful and effective only with the cooperation of all citizens and residents who have to abide by these measures, be more cautious and to comply with all health instructions.
He called on nationals and residents to abide by all instructions issued by the governmental authorities.
Sheikh Khalifa also praised the measures made by some entities in the country such as banks that postponed the due payments or reduced commissions on loans, noting that many semi-governmental institutions exempted various commercial stores and eateries from rental values.

قال سعادة الشيخ خليفة بن جاسم بن محمد آل ثاني رئيس غرفة قطر، إن أصحاب الأعمال في القطاع الخاص يتعاملون مع الظروف الراهنة المتعلقة بفيروس كورونا /كوفيد- 19/ بمسؤولية كبيرة.
ودعا سعادة رئيس الغرفة المواطنين والمقيمين، إلى عدم اللجوء إلى شراء كميات كبيرة وزائدة عن الحاجة من السلع والمواد التموينية بهدف تخزينها، مؤكدا أن السلع متوفرة في الأسواق المحلية بكميات جيدة ومخزون استراتيجي مطمئن، داعيا التجار الى دعم توافر السلع واستمرار تدفقها الى السوق المحلية للعبور من الظرف الراهن الى بر الأمان.
جاء ذلك في تصريح صحفي على هامش اجتماع عقده مجلس إدارة الغرفة اليوم، وناقش الآثار السلبية لفيروس كورونا وتأثيره على الاقتصادين الوطني والعالمي.
وقال سعادة رئيس الغرفة “إن أزمة فيروس كورونا التي اصابت مختلف دول العالم، تضعنا في اختبار حقيقي يستوجب منا أن نتعامل معه بحجمه الحقيقي دون تهويل أو تهوين، وذلك بعدم التقليل من آثاره وسلبياته، وفي نفس الوقت عدم المبالغة في تصرفاتنا وردودنا حياله”.
وأشاد الشيخ خليفة بن جاسم، بالإجراءات الاحترازية التي اتخذتها دولة قطر للحد من انتشار الفيروس، حرصا على صحة وسلامة المواطن والمقيم، لكنه نبه إلى أن الجهود الحكومية المقدرة لن تكون ناجحة وفعالة الا بتعاون جميع سكان البلاد والتزامهم بالحيطة والحذر وكافة التعليمات الصادرة عن وزارة الصحة العامة.
كما أشاد سعادة رئيس الغرفة، بالخطوات التي أقدمت عليها بعض الجهات في الدولة، مثل تأجيل بعض البنوك لتسديد الدفعات المستحقة أو تخفيض نسبة العمولات على القروض، فضلا عن اتخاذ بعض المؤسسات شبه الحكومية قرارا بإعفاء قيمة ايجار المحلات التجارية والمطاعم لمدد متفاوتة، معربا عن أمله في أن تكون هذه الخطوات دافعا للتعاون خلال هذا الظرف الذي يتطلب تكاتف الجميع.
وأشار الى أن القطاع الخاص في تواصل مستمر وتنسيق مع وزارة الصحة العامة والجهات المختصة بالدولة، مشددا على ضرورة أن يحرص الجميع على مزيد من التعاون بين الحكومة والقطاع الخاص والمواطنين والمقيمين حتى يتم تخطي هذه الأزمة بخير.
