Katara, Kahramaa sign cooperation agreement for Conservation and Energy Efficiency
«كتارا» و«كهرماء» توقّعان مذكرة تفاهم في مجال الترشيد
The Cultural Village Foundation Katara and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) represented in its National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The MoU aims at achieving cooperation between Kahramaa and Katara in the fields of awareness, experience exchange, joint activities, events and competitions between Katara and Kahramaa, that contribute to spreading the culture of conserving the vital resources and familiarise the public with the correct practices of the optimal use of water and electricity.
Addressing a press conference, General Manager of Katara, Dr. Khaled bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said that the agreement will contribute to open up the prospects for fruitful cooperation between Katara and Kahramaa in order to raise awareness and education in the Qatari community the right practices to preserve natural resources, leading to a healthy environment for current and future generations, by holding events, activities, competitions and workshops related to the technologies helping to conserve energy.
Dr. Al Sulaiti pointed out that the agreement came to complement Katara’s continuous efforts in building effective and fruitful partnerships with various institutions and organisations.
For his part, President of Kahramaa, Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari stressed that the memorandum symbolizes Kahramaa and Katara’s keenness to achieve productive cooperation between them and society, especially the activities and techniques of conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy to promote sustainability.
Al Kuwari explained that the memo reflects Kahramaa’s keenness in reaching and cooperating with all state institutions in the field of sustainability in line with the goals of Qatar’s 2030 environmental, social, economic and humanitarian vision and through the national program Tarsheed which celebrates its eighth anniversary soon, where it managed to reduce 12 million tonnes of harmful carbon emissions so far.
According to the latest statistics issued by the Kahramaa, the number of Tarsheed partners who signed MoUs reached over 70 different parties, under cooperation agreements and memoranda initiative.
Community partnership is an integral part of the scope of the national program of Tarsheed which is represented in different sectors of the State, whether government or private. MoUs include several aspects of the conservation, whether for implementing regulations or reviewing the energy of buildings or on raising awareness, conservation technologies, energy efficiency or renewable energy.

وقّعت المؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي «كتارا» والمؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء «كهرماء» -ممثلة في البرنامج الوطني للترشيد وكفاءة الطاقة «ترشيد»- أمس، مذكرة تفاهم للتعاون المشترك في جميع المجالات الاستراتيجية والتدريبية وتبادل الخبرات التي يشملها نشاط كل منهما.
وأعرب سعادة الدكتور خالد بن إبراهيم السليطي، المدير العام للمؤسسة العامة للحي الثقافي «كتارا» -في كلمته خلال توقيع الاتفاقية- عن أمله في أن تساهم الاتفاقية في فتح آفاق التعاون المثمر بين «كتارا» و«كهرماء»، من أجل نشر التوعية والتثقيف في المجتمع القطري في مجال الاستدامة والحفاظ على موارد البلاد الطبيعية، وصولاً إلى بيئة صحية للأجيال الحالية والمستقبلية، وذلك من خلال إقامة فعاليات وأنشطة ومسابقات وورش عمل تتناول تقنيات الترشيد.
من جهته؛ أكد سعادة المهندس عيسى هلال الكواري، رئيس المؤسسة العامة القطرية للكهرباء والماء «كهرماء»، على أن المذكرة تجسّد حرص «كهرماء» و»كتارا» على تحقيق التعاون المثمر فيما بينهما وبين المجتمع، خاصة فيما يتعلق بفعاليات وتقنيات الترشيد وكفاءة الطاقة والطاقة المتجددة من أجل تطوير ودعم أطر التفاهم المشترك في آليات توعية المجتمع في مجال الاستدامة والحفاظ على موارد البلاد الطبيعية، وصولاً إلى بيئة صحية للأجيال الحالية والمستقبلية، وذلك من خلال تعزيز العلاقات في مجالات المسؤولية المجتمعية وتنمية المجتمع وتعزيز منظومة الاستدامة، وعبر تبادل الخبرات بين المؤسستين، سواء من خلال الاستعانة بخبرات «كهرماء» في مجال كفاءة الطاقة وخبرات «كتارا» في مجال إقامة الأنشطة والفعاليات والمسابقات المهمة بالدولة.
وأوضح أن المذكرة تعكس حرص مؤسسة «كهرماء» على الوصول والتعاون مع جميع مؤسسات الدولة في مجال الاستدامة، بالتوافق مع أهداف رؤية قطر 2030 البيئية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والإنسانية، ومن خلال البرنامج الوطني «ترشيد» الذي يحتفل قريباً بمرور ثماني سنوات على انطلاقه، محققاً خلالها خفضاً في الانبعاثات الكربونية الضارة بأكثر من 12 مليون طنّ من الانبعاثات الكربونية الضارة حتى الآن.
