Shanghai, LA and Doha in historic museums partnership
شراكة تاريخية بين متاحف قطر و”يوز شنغهاي” ومتحف لوس أنجلوس
Yuz Museum Shanghai (YUZ), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and Qatar Museums (QM) Friday announced a historic collaboration to jointly develop and share exhibitions and programmes across their institutions.
The partnership aims to encourage the exchange of art and ideas among these three cities, each a leader in the cultural sector. Each museum will bring unique expertise, collections, and audiences, forging a multi-site exhibition programme that is truly global in perspective, according to a statement.
The inaugural exhibition of this partnership, In Production: Art and the Studio System, explores the interconnected histories of visual art and film. Featured artists include Cayetano Ferrer, Douglas Gordon, Alex Israel, Mike Kelley, Alex Prager, Amanda Ross-Ho, and Martine Syms.
Opening to the public on November 7 in Shanghai, In Production is grounded in works from LACMA’s renowned permanent collection. The exhibition is curated by Rita Gonzalez, Terri and Michael Smooke Curator and Department Head, Contemporary Art, at LACMA.
Following In Production, the exhibition schedule continues with three shows to be presented in 2020, including The Abode of Illusions: The Garden of Zhang Daqian (March–May 2020), drawing from the Yuz Collection, and This Is Not a Selfie: Photographic Self-Portraits from the Audrey and Sydney Irmas Collection (May–August 2020), which features works from LACMA’s permanent collection. The third exhibition, Yoshitomo Nara, will be on view at LACMA (April 5–August 2, 2020) before travelling to Yuz Museum (Fall 2020).
Further plans for exhibitions and curatorial projects involving Yuz Museum, LACMA and QM are currently under discussion.

“Yuz Museum aims to create a window into China’s contemporary culture for the world and this new partnership aligns with that mission in allowing YUZ to engage audiences in Los Angeles and Doha.
“The exchange LACMA, QM and YUZ are forging together through shared exhibitions and programs will support our endeavour to serve the people of China by bringing culturally significant works from across the world to Shanghai,” Tek added.
Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg director, said: “Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Doha are three centres of contemporary art. LACMA is excited to collaborate with Yuz Museum and Qatar Museums to introduce a varied and spectacular set of exhibitions in Shanghai and Doha.
“Together, we are experimenting with new and innovative ways to share the collections and programs from LACMA, YUZ, and Qatar Museums with a larger global audience.
“In the last decade, LACMA has placed tremendous emphasis on growing its Chinese art exhibitions, acquisitions, publications, and educational programming, and we look forward to continuing to engage people with Chinese art and culture on an international scale.
“We further look forward to an expanded partnership with Qatar Museums, with whom we have been collaborating on exhibition exchange since 2012. Qatar is a very exciting place for the arts right now, with rapidly expanding museum infrastructure, collections, expertise, and audiences.”

Thanks to this agreement, we can now look forward to sharing ideas, insights, and creative visions from Doha with the public in Shanghai and Los Angeles, and to bringing extraordinary new experiences to our diverse and deeply engaged public in Qatar.”
Hyundai Motor’s on-going 10-year partnership with LACMA extends to China at YUZ, as the presenting sponsor for the inaugural exhibition of this partnership, followed by two other exhibitions and visitor programs with LACMA and YUZ Museum.

وقالت الشيخة المياسة عبر حسابها بموقع تويتر مساء اليوم: “بكل فخر نعلن عن شراكة تاريخية بين متاحف قطر ومتحف يوز في شنغهاي ومتحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون من أجل تطوير ومشاركة المعارض والبرامج بين تلك المؤسسات”.
ونقل الموقع الإلكتروني لمتاحف قطر عن الشيخة المياسة قولها: “نتطلع في متاحف قطر دائمًا إلى الداخل والخارج في نفس الوقت – فداخليًا نسعى إلى خلق جيل جديد من المبدعين والجماهير الثقافية، أما على المستوى الخارجي فنحن نضع الفنانين والجماهير في جميع أنحاء العالم نصب أعيننا. وهذا التعاون مع متحف يوز، ومتحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون يساعدنا بشكل كبير على تحقيق أهداف رسالتنا الداخلية والخارجية؛ الأمر الذي يمكنّنا إلى حد كبير من الإضافة إلى برامج كل من هذه المؤسسات الشريكة المتميزة”.
وأضافت: “وبفضل هذه الاتفاقية، نتطلع إلى مشاركة الأفكار والتطلعات والرؤى الإبداعية من الدوحة مع جماهير الفن في كل من شنغهاي ولوس أنجلوس، وأيضًا إلى جلب تجارب جديدة متميزة إلى جمهورنا في قطر والذي يتسم بالتنوع والاهتمام الشديد بالفن”.
وأشار الموقع الإلكتروني إلى أن التعاون التاريخي والشراكة بين متاحف قطر ومتحف يوز (Yuz) في شنغهاي، ومتحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون (LACMA)، يهدف إلى تشجيع تبادل الفنّ والأفكار بين هذه المدن الثلاث، باعتبار كل منها من رواد القطاع الثقافي. وسيقدم كل من تلك المتاحف خبرات ومجموعات وجماهير فريدة من نوعها، الأمر الذي يُسهم في صياغة برنامج معارض متعدّد المواقع وعالمي التوجّه.
وقال إن المعرض الافتتاحي لهذه الشراكة، والمقام تحت عنوان “قيد الإنتاج: الفن ونظام الاستوديو”، سيستكشف الترابط بين تاريخ الفنون البصرية والأفلام. ومن بين المعروضات أعمال لفنانين بارزين مثل: كيتانو فيرير، ودوغلاس جوردون، وأليكس اسرائيل، ومايك كيلي، وأليكس براغر، وأماندا روس-هو، ومارتين سيمز.
وأضاف: يفتتح معرض “قيد الإنتاج” في 7 نوفمبر 2019 في شنغهاي، ويعرض أعمالًا من مجموعة متحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون الدائمة ذات الشهرة الفائقة. وهذا المعرض من تقييم كل من ريتا غونزاليس، وتيري ومايكل سموك، القيّم الفني ورئيس قسم الفن المعاصر بمتحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون.
وبعد معرض “قيد الإنتاج”، يستمر جدول المعارض ليشمل ثلاثة عروض خلال عام 2020، بما في ذلك معرض “دار الأوهام: حديقة تشانغ دقيان” (مارس-يونيو2020) ومعرض “هذه ليست صورة شخصية: صور بورتريه من مجموعة أودري وسيدني إيرماس”(أبريل-أغسطس 2020)، ويعرض أعمال من مجموعة متحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون الدائمة. أما المعرض الثالث فسيكون، “يوشيتومو نارا”، ويستضيفه متحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون (5 أبريل – 2 أغسطس 2020) قبل انتقاله إلى متحف يوز (في خريف 2020).
أما بقية الخطط للمعارض والمشاريع الفنية التي تشمل متحف يوز ومتحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون، ومتاحف قطر، فهي قيد المناقشة حالياً.
وقال بودي تيك، مؤسس ورئيس مجلس إدارة متحف يوز: “يسرنا أن ننطلق بهذا التعاون مع كلّ من متحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون ومتاحف قطر نحو آفاق جديدة الشراكة والتفاعل والتعاون المؤسسي. يهدف متحف يوز إلى فتح نافذة على الثقافة الصينية المعاصرة أمام العالم وتأتي هذه الشراكة الجديدة لتعزّز هذه الرؤية، التي نتطلّع من خلالها إلى إشراك الجماهير في كل من لوس أنجلوس والدوحة”.
وأضاف: “تعمل الشراكة بين كل من متحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون، ومتاحف قطر ومتحف يوز على توحيد الجهود من خلال المعارض والبرامج المشتركة التي ستدعم جهودنا لخدمة الشعب الصيني من استقطاب أعمال فنّية مهمة ثقافيًا من جميع أنحاء العالم إلى شنغهاي.
وقال مايكل جوفان، الرئيس التنفيذي لمتحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون، ومدير مركز واليس أننبرج “تعد كل من لوس أنجلوس وشنغهاي والدوحة ثلاثة مراكز للفن المعاصر. ونحن في متحف مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس للفنون متحمسون للتعاون مع متحف يوز ومتاحف قطر لتقديم مجموعة متنوعة ومذهلة من المعارض للجماهير في شنغهاي والدوحة”.
وتابع: “وسوف نعمل بشكل وثيق لتجربة طرق جديدة ومبتكرة لعرض مقتنيات وبرامج المتاحف الثلاثة لجمهور عالمي أوسع. وفي العقد الماضي، وضع متحف مقاطعة لوس انجلوس للفنون تركيزًا هائلًا على تنمية المعارض الفنية، والاقتناء، والمطبوعات، وبرامج التعليم الصينية. ونحن نتطلع إلى مواصلة إشراك الجماهير في تذوق الفن والثقافة الصينية على نطاق عالمي. كما نتطلع إلى توسيع الشراكة مع متاحف قطر، والتي نتعاون معها في مجال المعارض منذ عام 2012. وتعتبر قطر من أهم المواقع الفنية المثيرة للاهتمام في الوقت الحالي، وذلك بسبب التوسع المطرد في تشييد المتاحف، واقتناء المجموعات، وجمع الخبرات، وجذب الجماهير”.
