First batch of Qatari urgent aid arrives in Mogadishu

Mogadishu: Under the directives of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), in cooperation with the Standing Committee for Rescue and Relief Works and Humanitarian Aid, dispatched the first airlift to flood victims in the affected areas of the Federal Republic of Somalia, that included 42 tonnes of relief and medical supplies.
Director General of QFFD Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, and Qatari Ambassador to Somalia, Hassan bin Hamza Hashem, and Search and Rescue team of Lekhwiya escorted the aids.
At the forefront of those who received the Qatari delegation and aids were members of the Flood Relief Committee appointed by the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, as well as Somali government’s ministers and MPs.
The Director General of QFFD said at a joint press conference with Somali Federal Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Hamza Said Hamza that this is the first batch of Qatari aids to help the brothers in the republic of Somalia, and that another batch is been processed, while emphasizing that the state of Qatar stands with Somalia in the crisis.
Somali Federal Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management thanked Qatar’s prominent role in helping the flood victims in Somalia, adding that the generous support from the state of Qatar is the first batch and it is dedicated to the flood zones such as Beledweyne in Hirshabelle State, El Bardale in the state of Southwest of Somalia, and Bardera in Jubaland state. He also praised the continued support of the State of Qatar to the people and government of Somalia.
بتوجيهات من حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، قام صندوق قطر للتنمية، بالتعاون مع اللجنة الدائمة لأعمال الإنقاذ والإغاثة والمساعدات الإنسانية، بإرسال الجسر الجوي الأول لإغاثة ضحايا الفيضانات في المناطق المنكوبة بجمهورية الصومال الفيدرالية الشقيقة؛ حيث تضمّن 42 طناً من المؤن الإغاثية.
رافق المساعدات سعادة السيد خليفة بن جاسم الكواري المدير العام لصندوق قطر للتنمية، وسعادة السيد حسن بن حمزة هاشم سفير دولة قطر لدى الصومال، وفريق من البحث والإنقاذ من «لخويا».
وكان أعضاء من لجنة إغاثة متضرري الفيضانات، التي كوّنها رئيس الوزراء الصومالي، إضافة إلى وزراء في الحكومة الصومالية ونواب برلمانيين، في مقدمة مستقبلي الوفد والمساعدات القطرية. وأوضح المدير العام لصندوق قطر للتنمية، في مؤتمر صحافي مشترك مع سعادة السيد حمزة سعيد حمزة وزير الشؤون الإنسانية وإدارة الكوارث الصومالي، أن هذه هي الدفعة الأولى من المساعدات القطرية للأشقاء في جمهورية الصومال، وأن دفعة أخرى يجري تجهيزها، مؤكداً وقوف دولة قطر مع الصومال في هذه الأزمة.
من جانبه؛ تقدّم سعادة السيد حمزة سعيد حمزة، وزير الشؤون الإنسانية وإدارة الكوارث الصومالي، بالشكر لدولة قطر على دورها البارز في مساعدة منكوبي الفيضانات في الصومال، مشيراً إلى أن هذا الدعم السخي من دولة قطر هو الدفعة الأولى، وهي مخصصة لمناطق الفيضانات مثل بلدوين في ولاية هيرشبيلي، وبردالي في ولاية جنوب غرب الصومال، وبارطيري في ولاية جوبا لاند.
كما نوّه سعادته بدعم ووقوف دولة قطر الدائم إلى جانب شعب وحكومة الصومال.
