Prime Minister chairs National Tourism Council Board meeting

Doha: Prime Minister and Interior Minister, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, chaired yesterday the meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Tourism Council.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the tourism sector in the State of Qatar, and visitor statistics since the beginning of 2019 until the end of the third quarter, which showed a growth rate of 12% compared to last year.
The Board also reviewed the sector’s preparations for the various international and regional events which Qatar will host during the fourth quarter of this year, most importantly the Arabian Gulf Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019, and Qatar Shopping Festival.
The meeting also highlighted the latest developments latest developments related to the maritime tourism sector and the development and renovation of Doha Port.
The new season (2019-2020) started with the first cruise ship, out of 74 ships expected to visit Doha, docking at Doha Port, and the opening of the new temporary terminal for visitors of the cruise ships during the current season and the next two seasons, until the completion of the development of Doha Port before the start of the 2022 World Cup.

وقد استعرض المجلس آخر تطورات القطاع السياحي في قطر، وإحصائيات الزوار منذ بداية العام الحالي وحتى نهاية الربع الثالث، والتي أظهرت تحقيق نسبة نمو قدرها 12 % مقارنة بالعام الماضي، كما تم استعراض استعدادات القطاع للفعاليات العالمية والإقليمية المختلفة التي ستستضيفها قطر خلال الربع الرابع من العام الحالي، وعلى رأسها بطولة كأس الخليج العربي، وبطولة كأس العالم للأندية قطر 2019، ومهرجان قطر للتسوق.
كما تم استعراض آخر المستجدات الخاصة بقطاع السياحة البحرية، وأعمال تطوير وتجديد ميناء الدوحة، حيث بدأ الموسم الجديد 2019-2020، برسو السفينة الأولى من أصل 74 سفينة من المتوقع أن تزور مدينة الدوحة، وافتتاح مبنى الركاب المؤقت الجديد الذي سيقوم باستقبال زوار السفن السياحية خلال الموسم الحالي والموسمين المقبلين، حتى الانتهاء من أعمال تطوير ميناء الدوحة قبيل انطلاق بطولة كأس العالم 2022.
