MME holds meeting on preventing illegal trafficking in radioactive nuclear materials

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment in cooperation with United States Department of Energy, held the first induction meeting on preventing smuggling and illicit trafficking in other radioactive nuclear materials.
Assistant Director of the Radiation and Chemicals Protection Department at the Ministry, Abdullah Juma Al Muraikhi, said in a speech on the occasion that such meetings come within the framework of enhancing the Qatari-American cooperation in preventing smuggling and illicit trafficking in other radioactive nuclear materials.
The meeting included technical lectures and seminars, as well as reviewed the US international programs related to the focus of the meeting, and to identify modern technologies and techniques in the field of detection and verification of radioactive and nuclear materials.
The meeting was attended by representatives of various concerned authorities and experts from the US Department of Energy and the US Embassy in Doha.
عقدت وزارة البلدية والبيئة، بالتعاون مع وزارة الطاقة الأمريكية، الاجتماع التعريفي الأول حول منع التهريب والاتجار غير المشروع بالمواد النووية المشعة الأخرى.
وقال السيد عبدالله جمعة المريخي مساعد مدير إدارة الوقاية من الإشعاع والمواد الكيميائية بالوزارة، في كلمة بهذه المناسبة، إن مثل هذه الاجتماعات تأتي في إطار تعزيز التعاون القطري الأمريكي في مجال منع التهريب والاتجار غير المشروع بالمواد النووية المشعة الأخرى.
وقد تضمن الاجتماع محاضرات فنية وحلقات نقاشية، كما تم استعرض البرامج الأمريكية الدولية المتعلقة بمحور الاجتماع، والتعرف على التكنولوجيات والتقنيات الحديثة في مجال الكشف والتحقق من المواد المشعة والنووية.
وشارك في الاجتماع ممثلون لمختلف الجهات المعنية بالدولة وخبراء من وزارة الطاقة الأمريكية والسفارة الأمريكية بالدوحة.
