Kahramaa and QLC Launch Kahramaa Excellence Program

The Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) and the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish “Kahramaa Excellence”, an institutional programme aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of the senior Kahramaa management.

Organised pursuant to a study by the QLC of their partner organisation, the curriculum is designed and to be delivered by Duke Corporate Education in collaboration with the QLC.

QLC acting managing director Dr Ali J al-Kubaisi and Kahramaa president Essa bin Hilal al-Kuwari signed the agreement at an official ceremony in the presence of senior officials from both organisations and distinguished guests.

“As the State of Qatar continues to develop and realise the goals outlined in Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030, Kahramaa’s leadership has prioritised continuous improvement of their services, including the strengthening of their leadership,” al-Kubaisi said. “As a Qatari institution aimed at supporting other national institutions, the QLC is proud to assist Kahramaa’s leadership through our National Leadership Programmes and ‘Kahramaa Excellence’.”

“After close collaboration and an exhaustive evaluation of their professional needs, the Centre created ‘Kahramaa Excellence’, a programme that strengthens their capabilities in key areas,” he said. “Designed in partnership with Duke Corporate Education, one of the world’s leading executive education institutions, ‘Kahramaa Excellence’ will ensure that Kahramaa’s leadership continue to deliver the mission of the organisation.”

Under the agreement, the “Kahramaa Excellence” programme will see a select group of Kahramaa officials engage with several of Duke Corporate Education’s world-renowned faculty in four distinct modules – Leading for the Future, Leading Self and Others, Leading with Business Acumen, and Leading with Communication.

The programme will take place across a six-month period from November 2019 until May 2020.

During this time, in addition to a classroom learning experience, the participants will also undertake action learning projects that include the assessment of several case studies and readings that are complementary in nature to their ongoing courses.

“We are glad to be a partner with the QLC through the ‘Kahramaa Excellence’ programme, which comes within our interest in human element as the most important investment.

“We seek to improve our cadres and qualify them to hold leadership positions in the Corporation to meet the aspirations of the State of Qatar, creating and establishing a knowledge-based economy,” al-Kuwari said.

“We are sure that the graduates of the Programme, designed by the QLC, which is one of the key tributaries of achieving QNV 2030 objectives, collaborated with Duke University, will represent an important element in developing electricity and water sectors and will contribute to attain the vision and objectives of the Corporation,” he added.

“Kahramaa Excellence” was designed to reinforce Kahramaa’s leadership by bolstering their capabilities in several areas, with an emphasis on boosting the programme participants’ effectiveness as leaders in the future.

In a bid to better understand trends that can shape the public services landscape over time, participants will start the programme by diving into the methodology of studying change drivers and influencers, blueprinting possible futures and forecasting changes in their respective service areas.

They will also absorb insights that will help them guide their own personal growth and the development of the team while strengthening their management skills.

The all-inclusive syllabus will then shift perspective to their capacity as executives, supplementing their business acumen and communication abilities.

The programme participants will learn the levers that managers can use to deliver sustainable value for their companies, and dive into the fundamentals of corporate finance that will ultimately allow them to unlock sustainable growth models for Kahramaa.

Finally, the programme participants will be sharpening their ability to communicate through a combination of immersive scenarios and exercises that will help them create a leadership presence in the company.

Launched in 2014, the QLC’s Institutional Programme offers a unique leadership education platform for Qatar government institutions and public sector organisations to advance institutional performance and enhance managerial competencies.

Designed for ambitious Qatari professionals in public, private and government organisations, the programme includes customised training courses, seminars and executive solutions based on individual institution needs.

وقام مركز قطر للقيادات بالتعاون مع جامعة ديوك للتعليم المؤسسي بتصميم هذا البرنامج وفقا لدراسة خاصة أجراها مركز قطر للقيادات حول مؤسسة كهرماء، وقع الاتفاقية كل من الدكتور علي جاسم الكبيسي، المدير التنفيذي بالإنابة في مركز قطر للقيادات، وسعادة المهندس عيسى بن هلال الكواري رئيس كهرماء.

وقال الدكتور علي جاسم الكبيسي: “مع استمرار دولة قطر في تطوير وتحقيق الأهداف التي تنص عليها رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، وضعت قيادة مؤسسة كهرماء تطوير المهارات القيادية لدى كوادر المؤسسة كأولوية للمؤسسة، وباعتبارها مؤسسة تهدف إلى دعم المؤسسات الوطنية الأخرى، فإنّ المركز يدعم قيادات مؤسسة كهرماء من خلال برامج القيادات الوطنية والبرنامج المؤسسي “كهرماء تتميز”. وبعد تعاون وثيق مع كهرماء وإجراء تقييم شامل لاحتياجاتها المهنية، وضع المركز برنامج “كهرماء تتميز، وهو برنامج يعزز قدرات قيادي المؤسسة في مجالات رئيسية. وتم تصميم هذا البرنامج بالتعاون مع جامعة ديوك للتعليم المؤسسي، إحدى مؤسسات التعليم التنفيذي الرائدة في العالم، لضمان استمرار قيادة كهرماء في تحقيق أهداف المؤسسة.

وبموجب الاتفاقية الموقعة بين الطرفين، سيقوم أعضاء هيئة تدريس جامعة ديوك بتقديم برنامج “كهرماء تتميز” لمجموعة مختارة من مسؤولي وقيادات مؤسسة كهرماء، ويتضمن البرنامج 4 وحدات دراسية متميزة وهي: القيادة من أجل المستقبل، وقيادة الذات والآخرين، -القيادة وريادة الأعمال، والقيادة وفنّ التواصل، وسوف يتم تقديم البرنامج خلال فترة تمتد لستة أشهر من نوفمبر 2019 إلى مايو 2020.

وبالإضافة إلى تجربة التعلم في القاعات الدراسية، سيقوم المشاركون بتنفيذ مشاريع عملية، تشمل تقييم العديد من الدراسات، والقراءات التي تكمل بطبيعتها دوراتهم الدراسية القائمة، قال سعادة المهندس عيسى بن هلال الكواري رئيس كهرماء: سعداء بالشراكة مع مركز قطر للقيادات من خلال برنامج “كهرماء تتميز” والذي يأتي في إطار اهتمامنا بالعنصر البشري باعتباره الاستثمار الأهم، وحرصنا على تطوير كوادرنا وتأهيلهم لتولي المناصب القيادية في المؤسسة، بما يلبي تطلعات دولة قطر في بناء وتأسيس اقتصاد قائم على المعرفة”.

وأضاف سعادته: وكلنا ثقة أن خريجي برنامج “كهرماء تتميز” والذي قام بتصميمه مركز قطر للقيادات أحد الروافد الرئيسية نحو تحقيق غايات رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، وبالتعاون مع جامعة ديوك للتعليم المؤسسي، سيمثلون مكوناً هاماً في تطوير قطاعي الكهرباء والماء، بما يساهم في تحقيق رؤية وأهداف المؤسسة.

هذا وتم تصميم برنامج “كهرماء تتميز” لدعم وتقوية قيادات مؤسسة كهرماء من خلال تعزيز قدراتهم في العديد من المجالات، مع التركيز على تعزيز فاعلية المشاركين كقادة للمستقبل. وفي محاولة لفهم الاتجاهات التي يمكن أن تشكل المشهد العام لقطاع الخدمات بمرور الوقت بشكل أفضل، سيبدأ منتسبو البرنامج بالتعمق بدراسة عوامل التغيير والجوانب المؤثرة به، ووضع خطط متعددة لتصورات مستقبلية محتملة، والتنبؤ بمتغيرات جديدة في مجالات خدمتهم.

كما سيحصل المشاركون في البرنامج على رؤى وأفكار تساعدهم على توجيه نموهم الشخصي وتطوير فريق العمل وتعزيز مهاراتهم الإدارية. وسيعزز المنهاج الدراسي الشامل كفاءتهم كمديرين تنفيذيين، إذ سينمّي قدراتهم في مجال الأعمال والاتصال. وسيتعرف منتسبو البرنامج على نقاط القوة التي يمكن للمديرين استخدامها لتحقيق قيمة مستدامة لمؤسساتهم، وأسس التمويل المؤسسي، مما سيتيح لهم في نهاية المطاف إطلاق نماذج نمو مستدام في كهرماء. وسيتمكن منتسبو برنامج “كهرماء تتميز” من تعزيز قدراتهم في مجال التواصل عبر مجموعة من السيناريوهات والتدريبات التي من شأنها أن تساعدهم على خلق حضور وتأثير قيادي في المؤسسة.

هذا، وتم إطلاق البرامج المؤسسية بمركز قطر للقيادات في عام 2014، كوسيلة عملية لرفع مستوى المواهب البشرية وتعزيز الكفاءات القيادية والإدارية للمسؤولين في المؤسسات الحكومية القطرية ومؤسسات القطاع العام. وقد صممت هذه البرامج من أجل المهنيين من المواطنين والمواطنات. وتتضمن تنظيم دورات تدريبية متخصصة، وندوات، وكذلك توفير التدريب والتوجيه التنفيذي، استناداً إلى احتياجات كل مؤسسة.
