Ehsan campaign raises awareness of Alzheimer’s disease

The Centre for Elderly Empowerment & Care (Ehsan) has launched an awareness campaign in tandem with World Alzheimer’s Day, which is marked on September 21.
The campaign aims at raising awareness about the disease, its causes, symptoms, stages, prevention methods and the most important guidelines for dealing with Alzheimer’s patients.
The awareness campaign, which runs until September 22, includes a series of events and activities aimed at raising awareness, educating the community about Alzheimer’s disease and highlighting the most important guidance and counselling awareness to deal with the disease and prevent it.
These activities and events will coincide with guidance awareness campaign on Ehsan’s social networking platforms that would involve all members of the community in this campaign for greater spread and interaction in order to enhance care and attention to the category of older people, and identify the most important needs and social and health rights.
Executive Director of Ehsan Mubarak bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa said that educating the elderly and community members is one of the center’s most important strategic goals, adding that a range of events, activities, workshops and awareness campaigns are held in this month to achieve this goal.
He also stressed the importance of community cooperation as well as the involvement of all individuals and specialists who care for the elderly and Alzheimer’s patients, including the families of patients, to familiarise them with all aspects associated with this disease and to train and guide them on how to deal with it in various stages in order to provide the best social and health care for them.
There is a real partnership between the institutions and specialists working in them to develop modern methods of dealing with the elderly in accordance with the latest standards, experiences and global practices, he added.
Al Khalifa added that the campaign will distribute 2,500 copies of the Alzheimer bulletin prepared by the Ehsan center within the Ehsan Awareness Series, adding they will be distributed to the institutions and beneficiaries of the services of the center.

أطلق مركز تمكين ورعاية كبار السن “إحسان” التابع للمؤسسة القطرية للعمل الاجتماعي حملة توعوية بالتزامن مع اليوم العالمي لألزهايمر والذي يحتفل به العالم في 21 سبتمبر من كل عام، بهدف التوعية بهذا المرض وأسبابه وأعراضه ومراحله وطرق الوقاية منه وأهم الإرشادات للتعامل مع مريض ألزهايمر.
وتتضمن الحملة التوعوية التي تستمر حتى 22 من الشهر الجاري، مجموعة من الفعاليات والأنشطة التي تهدف إلى توعية وتثقيف المجتمع بمرض ألزهايمر وتسليط الضوء على أهم الإرشادات والنصائح التوعوية للتعامل معه والوقاية منه، ويتزامن مع هذه الأنشطة والفعاليات حملة توعوية إرشادية على منصات “إحسان” للتواصل الاجتماعي بهدف إشراك كافة أفراد المجتمع في هذه الحملة لتحقيق مزيد من الانتشار والتفاعل الذي يعزز قيمة الرعاية والاهتمام بفئة كبار السن، والتعرف على أهم احتياجاتهم وحقوقهم الاجتماعية والصحية.
وبهذه المناسبة، قال السيد مبارك بن عبدالعزيز آل خليفة المدير التنفيذي لمركز إحسان،” تمثل توعية كبار السن وأفراد المجتمع أهم أهدافنا الاستراتيجية في المركز، ولذلك يسعى المركز في شهر سبتمبر من كل عام ،باعتباره شهر التوعية بمرض ألزهايمر لرفع الوعي بهذا المرض من خلال تنفيذ مجموعة من الفعاليات والأنشطة وورش العمل والحملات التوعوية التي تحقق هذه الهدف.
كما أكد على أهمية التعاون المجتمعي وإشراك كافة الأفراد والمختصين القائمين على رعاية كبار السن ومرضى ألزهايمر، ويشمل ذلك أسر المرضى، لتعريفهم بكافة النواحي المرتبطة بهذا المرض وتدريبهم وإرشادهم لطرق التعامل معه في مراحله المختلفة من أجل توفير أفضل رعاية اجتماعية وصحية لهم ، كما أكد على أهمية وجود شراكة حقيقية بين المؤسسات والمختصين العاملين فيها لتطوير أساليب حديثة للتعامل مع كبار السن وفق أحدث المعايير والتجارب والممارسات العالمية.
وأشار إلى أن المركز قام بإعداد خطة متكاملة للحملة التوعوية بمرض ألزهايمر في هذا الشهر تحت شعار (لنتحدث)، ومن أهم ما يميز الحملة في هذا العام مجموعة من الفعاليات التوعوية من بينها ورشة استعراض نتائج دراسة علمية تم إعدادها بالتعاون مع جامعة قطر بعنوان (رعاية المصابين بالقصور الذهني في قطر)، حيث سيتم خلال هذه الندوة المزعوم عقدها بتاريخ 15 سبتمبر في جامعة قطر عرض أهم الرؤى والتوصيات التي تضمنتها هذه الدراسة والتي قام بها مجموعة من الباحثين والمختصين من جامعة قطر.
وأضاف أنه سيتم خلال هذه الحملة توزيع 2500 نسخة من نشرة (ألزهايمر) التي أصدرها مركز إحسان ضمن سلسلة إحسان التوعوية، حيث سيتم توزيعها على المؤسسات والمستفيدين من خدمات المركز.
