Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, Assistant Undersecretary for Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), has said that the joint working team, for running/operating beaches, provided all necessary services round-the-clock at 25 beaches across the country for the comfort of visitors during Eid Al Adha holidays. Speaking to The Peninsula, Safar Mubarak Al Shafi, said that the team was comprised of nine government entities, including Natural Reserves Department, Public Cleanliness Department, Al Wakrah Municipality, Al Rayyan Municipality, Ministry of Interior, Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), South Security, Public Works Authority (Ashghal), and Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC). “The team conducted study on beach rehabilitation projects in an integrated manner and it helped develop an appropriate action plan,” said Al Shafi. He said that as per the study-based action-plan, four main beaches Sealine, Al Wakrah and Al Farkia for families and Al Kharaij beach for singles and workers were selected to intensify operation in a bid to ensure all necessary services for visitors. Al Shafi pointed out that three beaches were dedicated for families with recreational areas, sports, toilets, chairs, umbrellas, barbecue areas, containers, advanced lighting systems and many more, in addition to providing rescue team and first aid services, noting that this is part of the family beach projects. “Sealine Beach also has a number of advantages including the fencing of the entire beach and the provision of security teams to regulate the entry of families to and from the beach to ensure the privacy and a dedicated team to ensure the hygiene and a many other quality services for beachgoers, in cooperation with the QNTC.” The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, he said, has provided a team of 418 employees to ensure necessary services at all beaches. “A total of 103 cleaning vehicles were also engaged in service to remove the waste and intensified patrolling to keep monitoring the beaches.” Al Shafi noted that the municipality also provided 1,273 containers in order to maintain hygiene at beaches, noting that the main beaches received large number of visitors as 231 tonnes of waste were removed during the Eid Al Adha. He said that Al Kharaij Beach, which was dedicated to singles and workers, received great attention from the team, pointing out the location of the beach was made very carefully in cooperation with all parties. “Al Kharaij Beach is having many services such as drinking water, toilets, beverage cars, garbage containers, lighting system, as well as playgrounds for volleyball, football, beach and cricket,” said Al Shafi. He said that other services at the beach included rescue team, ambulance and security personnel in addition to a complete cleaning team. Al Shafi pointed to the provision of an operation office in Al Kharaij with all the support services in addition to security patrols, coastguards, and inspectors for environmental protection and hygiene, in addition to inspectors of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs; security and ambulance services. “There were also representatives from the authorities concerned as part of an awareness programme on hygiene and other issues related to the workers,” said Al Shafi. He said that in coordination with Qatar Charity free meals provided to beach goers as a humanitarian initiative to celebrate the holiday, pointing out the role of Ashghal in building and paving a direct road, linking Salwa Road with the new beach in Al Kharaij. “The new road provided access to the beach for all companies without any difficulties or obstacles,” he added. He said the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs communicated with the companies operating in the country to introduce the new beach and the way to access it, as well as procedures and standards of participation requirements, well in advance of Eid Al Adha. He lauded the great role played by the Ministry of Interior by providing round-the-clock patrols on all beaches without exception to maintain security in addition to maintaining traffic flow, especially in the area of Sealine. “The patrols played an important role in guiding buses to Al Kharaij roads and ensuring their smooth entry and exit,” said Al Shafi. He also praised the role of the QNTC in the framework of the joint working team, indicating its contribution in providing many recreational and tourism services at the beaches. He thanked the Minister of Municipality and Environment, H E Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, for following up and supervising the work of the joint working team since its formation, as well as supervising the work at all beaches during Eid Al Adha. He said that environmental observers were available in all beaches to ensure that beach goers were following the environmental laws, lauding the role of inspectors in spreading awareness among the public about the importance of preserving the environment. “Garbage bags were also distributed to beach goers as a kind of awareness on the importance of maintaining cleanliness,” Al Shafi added.
أعلنت وزارة البلدية والبيئة،استمرار أعمال تنظيف كورنيش الدوحة بالكامل بصفة يومية. وأكدت -في تغريدة عبر حسابها بموقع التواصل الاجتماعي «تويتر»- أن أعمال النظافة بالكورنيش تتواصل، نظراً لأنه من المرافق الحيوية بالدولة، ويحظى باهتمام وإقبال كبيرين. جاءت التغريدة في سياق تفاعلها مع فيديو نشره أحد المتابعين لحسابها في «تويتر»، ويرصد فيه وجود مخلفات بالكورنيش تحتاج إلي إزالة عاجلة، وقد أرفقت الوزارة التغريدة بعدة صور، توضح قيام فرق النظافة بأعمال رفع المخلفات. وكانت الوزارة -متمثلة في إدارة النظافة العامة- قد نفذت خطة متكاملة في أنحاء البلاد لرفع المخلفات خلال عطلة عيد الأضحي المبارك. وشملت الخطة تنفيذ أعمال غسيل وكنس الكورنيش بشكل مستمر يومياً، من أجل إبقائه نظيفاً وأكثر جمالاً، حتى يكون مؤهلاً لاستقبال الجماهير الغفيرة خلال احتفالات «الأضحى». وشملت خطة إدارة النظافة العامة بالوزارة توفير فرق ميدانية خاصة لنظافة الحدائق، وزيادة عدد الحاويات بالشواطئ العامة بالدولة، كما تضمنت الخطة توفير فرق طوارئ مجهزة بالآليات والمعدات لمتابعة الأعمال بالمناطق، تحسباً لوقوع بعض الحوادث المرورية، التي تستوجب نظافة موقع الحوادث أولاً بأول. كما حذرت الوزارة من إلقاء أو ترك مخلفات الطعام في الحدائق أو على الشواطئ أو في الأماكن العامة أو الأراضي الفضاء، مشيرة إلى أنه وفقاً لقانون النظافة العامة يدفع من يخالف هذا التحذير مبلغ 500 ريال. ودعت الوزارة في وقت سابق المواطنين والمقيمين بضرورة التعاون للحفاظ على نظافة المناطق والمرافق العامة بالدولة، والساحات والميادين العامة أثناء قيامهم بالتنزه في المناطق الترويحية، وخاصة الشواطئ وعدم تشويه الأماكن العامة برمي المخلفات الشخصية وعلب الألمنيوم والبلاستيك بطريقة عشوائية. وأكدت ضرورة المساعدة في إنجاح برامج النظافة من خلال التعاون والالتزام باستخدام أكياس القمامة وعدم الرمي العشوائي للمخلفات.
