Qatar elected unanimously as Vice-President of FAO General Conference

Rome: The General Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) unanimously elected at the opening session of its 41st Session held in Rome yesterday, Qatar’s Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie as Vice-President of the FAO General Conference. Qatar has been unanimously elected as a member of the FAO Council for the fourth consecutive session.
Qatar is represented at the Council of the FAO, which prepares the annual financial budget of the Organisation and its projects in the field to eradicate poverty, hunger and undernourishment in the world by Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Italy and its Permanent Representative to UN agencies in Rome.
The minister met yesterday with the Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Jose Graziano da Silva, on the margin of the State of Qatar’s participation in the 41st FAO Conference held in Rome during the period 22 to 29 June. The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to UN Agencies in Rome.
They discussed aspects of cooperation between Qatar and FAO and means to further develop them. The Minister extended thanks to the Director-General of FAO on the occasion of the end of his term and the fruitful cooperation he had provided to the State of Qatar during the past period. The FAO 41st Conference had earlier unanimously elected H E Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie as Vice-Chair.
The State of Qatar was unanimously elected member of the FAO Council, for the fourth consecutive session.
انتخب المؤتمر العام لمنظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة فاو بالإجماع، في الجلسة الافتتاحية لاجتماعات دورته ( 41 ) المنعقدة بالعاصمة الإيطالية روما اليوم، سعادة المهندس عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز بن تركي السبيعي وزير البلدية والبيئة نائبا لرئيس المؤتمر العام للمنظمة الأممية.
وجرى انتخاب دولة قطر بالإجماع عضوا في مجلس منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للدورة الرابعة على التوالي.
ويمثل دولة قطر بمجلس منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة، الذي يتولى وضع الميزانية المالية السنوية للمنظمة وبرامج مشاريعها التي تنفذها في الميدان للقضاء على الفقر والجوع ونقص التغذية في العالم، سعادة السيد عبدالعزيز بن أحمد المالكي سفير دولة قطر لدى إيطاليا والممثل الدائم لدولة قطر لدى وكالات الأمم المتحدة في روما.
