QRCS volunteers hold charity visits, distribute Iftar meals

Doha: Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the volunteers of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have been working hard to serve society members, with a series of visits to different locations, as well as distribution of Iftar meals to those present at the time of Maghreb, with an average of 1,000 per day.

There are 13 visits on the schedule, involving 20-30 volunteers of QRCS. Some organisations take part in the program, including the General Directorate of Traffic, Soul Riders Qatar, and other youth groups.

Among the locations to be visited are Katara Cultural Village, Souq Waqif, Souq Al Wakra, Al Khor. Some services institutions that work 24/7 are also included, such as the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Rehabilitation Institute (QRI), Al Wakra Hospital, and the General Directorate of Traffic.

A group Iftar banquet was held for seniors at the Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care (Ehsan). Under the Joy Box initiative, Eid gifts will be distributed to children.

Students will be engaged in distributing the Iftar meals, under the young volunteer programme.

The Garangao was celebrated at a primary school, in cooperation with the Orphan Care Center (Dreama).

Ahmed A Al Khulaifi, Head of Volunteers Section at QRCS, said: “Such charity visits are a good tradition of QRCS, as part of its sociopsychological support programs for vulnerable groups such as patients, older persons, and orphans. It is a thank-you message for the workers who dedicate themselves to their jobs.”

Al Khulaifi praised the great efforts exerted by the volunteers in carrying our QRCS’s different social programs. This is particularly evident during the holy month of Ramadan, when they perform many tasks such as managing Ramadan Iftar tents, making visits to hospitals and services organisations, distributing Iftar meals on the run and at sightseeing locations, and receiving the seekers of Ramadan and seasonal assistance.

ينفّذ متطوّعو الهلال الأحمر القطري ومتطوّعاته برنامجاً يتضمن سلسلة من الزيارات الخيرية إلى عدة أماكن وتوزيع وجبات الإفطار على الموجودين بها خلال وقت المغرب، بمعدل 1000 وجبة يومياً.

ومن المقرر طبقاً لخطة قسم المتطوعين بالهلال الأحمر القطري تنظيم 13 زيارة خيرية، تشارك فيها مجموعة مكوّنة من 20-30 متطوعاً ومتطوعة من الهلال الأحمر القطري، بالتعاون مع عدة جهات رسمية ومجتمعية، مثل: الإدارة العامة للمرور، ومجموعة «سول رايدرز» لهواة الدراجات النارية، وغيرها من

المبادرات الشبابية.

وتشمل الزيارات عدداً كبيراً من الأماكن التي تحظى بإقبال جماهيري كبير، مثل ساحة المدفع في الحي الثقافي (كتارا)، وساحة المدفع في سوق واقف، وسوق واقف بمدينة الوكرة، وساحة المدفع في مدينة الخور.

كذلك تشمل قائمة أماكن الزيارات عدداً من المؤسسات العامة في الدولة التي تعمل على مدار الساعة بلا توقّف، حيث تُوزّع باقات الورود على العاملين في هذه المؤسسات؛ شكراً وتقديراً لجهودهم في خدمة المجتمع. ومن هذه المؤسسات، الإدارة العامة للدفاع المدني، ومؤسسة حمد الطبية، ومركز قطر لإعادة التأهيل، ومستشفى الوكرة، والإدارة العامة للمرور.
