Partial Opening of Al Egda Street in Al Khor City
افتتاح جزئي لشارع العقدة بالخور
The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the opening of a part of Al Egda Street on Sunday 26 May 2019. The importance of the street comes from its location north of Al-Bayt Stadium, and represents the link between two main roads, Al Khor Road and a road leading to Al Shamal Road, it also facilitates the access to Al Bayt Stadium, one of the 2022 World Cup stadiums. Eng. Ali Ashkanani, Head of Northern Areas Section, pointed out that the section that was opened from the street is about 2.8 km long and includes three lanes in each direction with a 3m-wide pedestrian path provided on each side of the street. In order to increase traffic flow, Ashghal implemented four signal-controlled intersections at the street, as well as the installation of barriers to improve traffic safety on the street. The works also included the installation of 145 lighting poles and the construction of a 2.5 km long drainage network.
Al Egda Street works is part of the project to upgrade link roads to Al-Bayt Stadium in Al-Khor, which features the construction of 5.3 kilometres of roads, and 8 m-wide pedestrian path and cycle path, in addition to landscaping and pavement works that will be carried out at the surrounding roads. Intelligent telecommunications systems (ITS) will be installed in this project In addition to the installation of specific street lighting poles similar to those used inside the Stadium, the street lighting will be provided using energy saving LED lamps. The project also includes linking the stadium to a sewer and surface water drainage networks.
Ashghal has started the implementation of the project to upgrade link roads to Al-Bayt Stadium in Q4 2017, the progress of the project reached 48% and it is scheduled for completion in Q4 2019.
أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” عن افتتاح جزء من شارع العقدة يوم الأحد الموافق 26 مايو 2019، وتأتي أهمية الشارع من موقعه شمال استاد البيت ويمثل حلقة الوصل بين طريقين رئيسيين وهما طريق الخور وطريق مؤدي إلى طريق الشمال، كما يسهل الوصول إلى استاد البيت وهو أحد ملاعب كأس العالم لعام 2022، كما هو مبين في الخريطة أدناه.
وقد أشار المهندس علي أشكناني، رئيس قسم المناطق الشمالية بأشغال، إلى أن الجزء الذي تم افتتاحه من الشارع يتكون من ثلاث مسارات في كل اتجاه، كما يضم مساراً للمشاة بعرض 3 أمتار على جانبي الشارع، ويبلغ طوله حوالي 2،8 كيلومتر، ولزيادة الانسيابية المرورية، قامت “أشغال” بتنفيذ أربعة تقاطعات على الشارع جميعها مزودة بإشارات ضوئية، بالإضافة لتركيب حواجز لرفع مستوى السلامة المرورية على الطريق، وقد تضمنت الأعمال تركيب 145 عامود إنارة وانشاء شبكة لتصريف مياه الأمطار بطول 2.5 كيلومتر.
وتأتي أعمال شارع العقدة ضمن مشروع الطرق المحيطة باستاد البيت والذي يشمل إنشاء طرق بطول إجمالي قدره 5.30 كيلومتر، ومسار مشترك للمشاة وللدراجات الهوائية حول الاستاد من الجهتين بعرض 8 متر، ويتضمن المشروع أعمال التشجير والتجميل للطرق والأرصفة المحيطة، بالإضافة إلى تركيب أعمدة إنارة مميزة خاصة للشوارع حول الاستاد تشبه الأعمدة المستخدمة داخل الاستاد واعتماد مصابيح LED موفرة للطاقة بالإضافة إلى تركيب أنظمة اتصالات ذكية، كما يشمل المشروع ربط الاستاد بشبكة صرف صحي وشبكات تصريف مياه الأمطار.
بدأت “أشغال” تنفيذ أعمال مشروع الطرق المحيطة باستاد البيت في الربع الرابع من عام 2017، حيث وصلت نسبة الإنجاز الفعلي للمشروع 85%، ومن المقرر اكتمال كافة أعمال المشروع في الربع الرابع من عام 2019.
